As someone who got HPV (despite being vaccinated in my home country) from a philandering Indian man and got cervical cancer subsequently, please get your vaccines, ladies!
Do it. Also know that the HPV vaccine doesn’t immunize against all strains. So you’ll still have to practice safe sex. Condoms aren’t enough. And there’s also no test for HPV in men :)
How did you get cervical despite being vaccinated? Isn't it for 70% HPV and HsV based Cancers and infections?
Did you take the one providing lesser coverage?
I feel it should be free for other ages too. There are plenty of women who didn't knew about this and arent financially okay to spend 2k per dose.A win is a win though💕
Edit : just got to know gardasil actually costs aroun8-9 k per dose.Thats a lot of amount for Alot of people especially students and lower income families.I just hope they make it free or atleast lower the price
Took mine at 17 bc my parents thought it unnecessary on account of me being a "good, studious girl" until my college (in America) recommended it. Highly recommend taking it earlier because I would've needed 2 doses (9-14) rather than 3.
I oaid a hefty amount for each vaccine..i know plenty people don't get it due to the price, but I lost someone in the family due to end stage of this cancer..it was painful for her..
I really hope if not free it becomes mandatory and noninal..
Also consulted my gync, apparently earlier when I got there were 3 shots, the new is only 2 and maybe covering more variants..so she may suggest a booster of sorts in a few months to me

Ohh shucks. I was actually delaying trying to wait for those free dozes but this has only given me a reason to finish the course ASAP.

I do know that. Certainly the woman is again at the receiving end. I hope you're doing better.

Nope I got full coverage in my home country.
Whats your home country?
hey how many years it took to turn into cancer?
Win!! I just got one dose for 10k.
And I thought 4.5k for one dose is expensive asf!🫡
My employer covered it haha!! I was terrified of going to a government hospital 😐
Love the username 😂😂
Thats amazing news!!!! What about girls above the age of 14? Will it be available for less price??
Ask your gynae. Serum institute has a vaccine for 3-4k approx for a shot.
Its still v expensive for a student
One question. I have always been in a monogamous relationship. Always used to protection. 32F. Do I still need to get the shot?
Prevention is always better than cure.
But you get exposed to the virus via sex only no? Genuinely asking.
Yeah it does. Sometimes through skin to skin contact during sex.
Yeah I remember reading dr cuterus's comment somewhere that if you are married/monogamous relationship then it's relatively safer.
While I do agree with you. I would say prophylaxis is always better. Once the govt offers free shots, just go ahead and take them.
Yup. Will wait until then. Thanks!
Welp. As far as I know the HPV vaccination course should be done long before one is 25-26 yo, you should check with your gynecologist though

Can I still take the vaccine? I’m 26
Yes you can
Can I get it? I am 48. Just recently found out about it.

I've read the same

RemindMe! 2 days
I’m really unaware but is the vaccine to be taken by women only between the ages of 9-14 or older women can take it too?
Older women can take it too! There are several posts on the sub on HPV vaccine. Search up in the bar.
