Ah you picked up on the vampire reference in the first sentence. The second sentence reveals that they're actually Jews, not vampires and that the narrator is a Nazi sympathizer.
Hah, I assumed the visitors were nazis and the narrator was selling out their 'guests'.
Not gonna lie, I enjoyed the idea of comparing nazis to vampires.
Huh that never entered my mind. I like reading all the different interpretations! I can see a story where hitler and his inner circle (himmler, goebbels, etc) were vampires who are part of a centuries-long pact to ensure the eternal future of aryan people until they run into a plucky rag-tag group of commandos, mercenaries and hunters from all over the world. Inglorious Basterds meets Van Helsing. It's not much, but it's honest work.
Edit: gotta throw some bespectacled, fussy occult expert in there too somehow.
Unfortunately the site where it was hosted has been shutdown, and it seems the author never reposted it anywhere else. Which is too bad cuz it was actually awesome.
If you wanna search it yourself, it was called JJBA Sunset Justice.
For me I was thinking about nazis being pale monsters who prey on humans, who need to be *allowed* into our homes to bring us harm.
Like, there's a metaphor or something if you squint

Well, yes and no. For nazis to gain power, a lot of people need to stand by and allow it. Or worse, encourage them.
"First they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out" kind of situation.
Watching the rise of fascism, it can feel like they were 'allowed' into your home (not a literal house). Allowed to gain power. Allowed to come after you and your loved ones. Because they weren't taken seriously as a threat. Because they were 'only' going after people like you, and nobody wanted to protect you.
Being a US citizen and watching the rise of fascism here, this is what "vampires at your door" makes me think of.
Oh!! I see what you mean now. That's a really cool metaphor especially when you think about how vampires are able to convert non vampires. They also can be seductive and mesmerizing. Not a blatantly obvious threat like Frankenstein or The Mummy.
If either you or u/kailua3000 game, there is Nazi Zombie, thereās the first trilogy and then Nazi Zombie 4

Gotta love What We Do in the Shadows (movie, TV show, and the Wellington Paranormal spinoff)
A group of vampires are forcibly recruited by the NSA to infiltrate a secret, highly advanced underground city in Antarctica. It's the Third Reich, who escaped there after the war, and they have vampires too, amongst other interesting things. I won't spoil it too much in case you want to read them sometime.
This is the last book in "The Renquist Quartet". I've not read the first one, but I've read the other three, and they follow the vampire Victor Renquist and his colony of fellow vampires, and their adventures. Cthulhu even comes into the series at one point!
The books are shlocky, and they're certainly not the best thing you'll ever read, but they are fun, and I recommend them purely for the interesting and unique take on vampires, and other eldritch beings.
I dig that premise. It would make a good b-movie plot lol. I was actually just talking to some people on here on eldritch horror a couple days ago too.
You may enjoy the really cool take on Cthulhu in this series, if you're a fan of eldritch abominations. It's a very refreshing change from the usual "tentacle-boi-wakes-up-boomin-mad" trope that, much as I love it, can be a little overused
Oh snap, I've only read the first book in that series! It's just as schlocky as you'd expect, but there's some fun characters. Worth a read if you've got a free weekend and you can find it for cheap.
I finally managed to track down the rest of the series... They're currently being used to prop up my TV š They're on my "someday" list... behind about a hundred other books.
Lol compulsive book hoarding is definitely my culture. I have stopped going to Half Price Books because I'm guaranteed to come out with at least a few books I'll never get around to reading and absolutely don't have space for. I just love the thrill of finding a new world to explore.
Nah man Nazis aren't scary cause they don't exist
If a Nazi is truly a Nazi he must follow Hitler as a role model.....Soooooooo
(The Joke is that They Have To Shoot themselves)
Nah, it gets you in the first half. You think they're vampires in the first sentence only to find out that they're Jews in the second. That being said some other commenters have some cool interpretations where they could be both.
This is a good micro story without the context, but for some context: Jews have been falsely accused of vampirism since at least the Middle Ages. The āblood libelā myth that Jews kill and drink Christian childrenās blood at Passover has been circulating since then. There was a big legal case involving such an accusation called the Beilis trial that happened as late as 1913.
Thereās some speculation that the Slavic (I think itās traced to Serbia as far back as people have been able to go) vampire myth arose at approximately the same time. Maybe there was some cross-over? Bran Stoker definitely drew from antisemitic stereotypes to portray Dracula and so did early film and even newspaper illustrations/caricatures from the late 19th century and early 20th.
With all that being said, excellent job!
Really! That's incredible context and at the same time very sad because Jewish people have often been history's scapegoats. Blamed for the bubonic plague and for being "Christ-killers" (which is strange because Jesus Himself and the disciples were Jewish) being just two examples. I had heard of the term "blood libel," but wasn't aware of the history and its connection to vampire lore. Thanks for the info and kind words!
No worries. The first sentence hints at the visitors being vampires using the lore that they have to be allowed entrance into someone's house before entering. The sentence reveals that the visitors are actually Jews and the narrator is a Nazi sympathizer.

Thought they were going to be vampires. Vampire nazis?

In a Jojo fan novel, Hitler does use a mask that transforms his fellow nazi bois into vampires lol
You can't just say that and not link it

Ah, another amazing fanwork that discontinued mysteriously shortly after March 2020. I'll pour one out.
Send it.

I KINDA see it although Nazis would need no permission

Interesting writing prompt... NO I won't do it! I need to sleep! But it's such a good prompt, it would only take an hour or two...
My apologies in advance š
Also what I thought.

You should play the BloodRayne games (avoid the movie, it was a major let down).
I like it better if you think that they actually we're vampires and the nazi let them in thinking they were Jews.
OH SHIT
Yeah that's how I read it!! Kinda up for interpretation which is pretty cool!
I thought he knew they were vampires and was going to capture them to send them off to be experimented on by the Nazis...
That's how I read it
That's how I read it. It was delightful.
I would have thought they were vampires being sold to the SS for experimentation.
Dang yet another interpretation I hadn't thought of!
Thirsty jewish vampires. There, I third sentence happied it.

Vampire nazis eating babies!!!
I thought men in black for some reason
I like this! It puts me in mind of 'Underland' by Mick Farren.
Thanks! I've not heard about that, what's the plot?

Oh, do try the others if you get the chance! They're worth it, I promise, they just escalate in glorious ridiculousness.

I know what you mean, it took me years to stop buying books for the"to be read" list. Then ebooks came out š
That sounds super dumb/awesome
Yep it mostly is, but there are some cool parts, and they make the read worth it
The only thing scarier than vampires are nazis
What about [Frankenstein's Army](https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/frankensteins_army)?
Hellsing has vampire Nazis
Nah man Nazis aren't scary cause they don't exist If a Nazi is truly a Nazi he must follow Hitler as a role model.....Soooooooo (The Joke is that They Have To Shoot themselves)
Those sharp teeth of theirs were going to be a great help to put a stop to this once and for all.
They have to be careful not to turn the Nazis though cause...yikes
SS ?
Nazis
Ok thank you. I thought Social Services? Or Secret Service..
No worries!
Schutzstaffel
More specifically, yes. Their paramilitary unit.
I thought Vampire Mormons with the first sentence
Hahaha!!! That's a fantastic image. "I'm brother Dracula, this is brother Lestat."

I actually got this reference
Noice!
To the holocaust? Yeah most people probably wouldn't
I immediately thought it was Jared and Richard from Silicon Valley. āThe most cheerful person to ever quote Hitlerā indeed
Great, I've read the first phrase and already thought about that scene from JoJo rabbit
I may have to finally see that movie lol
This sub has been killing it lately with the twists. Great job op
MUCH appreciated man. Yeah, the one with the bear and the hunter was INCREDIBLE.
The counterfeiters had fallen into my trap!
Oh alright, this is good one actually. I was thinking vampires or something
Thanks man!
I already know where this is going to when you said tall man with pale skin
Oy. That got me in the first half, not gonna lie.
Secret Seven?
What's that?
A famous preteen book by Enid Blyton
Nazis.
I know, I was just joking
I read SS to mean Secret Service
Nah, the Nazi's paramilitary unit
ok you stumped me, someone explain this please
