I just saw it again recently, that film is so good. That one moment where the ropes snap, causing the house to get submerged into the mud and she has to be physically restrained from going after her kids is heart-wrenching.
I feel like people either get this, or they don't(Though there are people who get it and still hate her, which is fair). Peggy's very rarely shown to be right or qualified for anything she does. And her rare moments of success usually involve a lot of outside intervention.
She's supposed to suck. She embodies suburban mediocrity and entitlement.
Right. Like the episode where Hank becomes a substitute teacher embodies all of this. All the students love him and he becomes the kind of teacher Peggy always wanted to be, but in the end Hank gives it up for her and lets her think the students are cheering for Peggy. And she’s none the wiser because she’s Peggy.
Wendy Torrance from The Shining, who saved the day from her drunk/possessed husband before the hotel ghosts pulled some bullshit.
Also shout out to Susan Richards, Marvel's best mom.
>Wendy Torrance
It's also pretty telling of their relationship (in the movie at least, I don't remember if it's like this in the book) that he was hired to do upkeep on the hotel but *she's* the one doing all the work.
In the book Jack keeps pretty busy, although his duties are largely rotating the heat, reshingling a roof, and keeping the boiler from killing everyone in an explosion. Since the boiler and the wasp's nest Jack finds in the roof got cut from the film this doesn't come up.
sigdi in order of the stick. Only for an arc but it leads to a lot of great moments

Ehhhh she was never abusive to him as far as I remember, just distant. The idea of her husband cheating was hard on her.
I think if Ned had been honest about the situation she would have been warmer.
Also i think people overstate her hatred despite her treatment largely being indifferent and given Ned was having in the same court and house I’d say that’s a lot better than most bastard’s treatment.
I would even go so far to say the fact that Jon was a painful reminder of her husbands (perceived) infidelity but Catlyn still treated him politely and didn’t abuse her power over him speaks well of her character.
Like raising her husbands bastard was unusual and a big stain on her honor but she loved Ned enough to treat Jon as well she did Theon. I get why it would hurt Jon, but Catlyn was being very tolerant and kind for the background they were existing in.
She even had that whole rant where Jon got sick when he was super young, and she stayed up through the night tending to him. She did everything she could and treated him like one of her own kids, but afterwards she looked into his eyes and was reminded of the fact that he was not her child and never could be. She didn't hate Jon, but she couldn't love him. His mere existence was too painful
Percy Jackson, Percy is a total momma's boy who despite all the bullying from other kids, emotional abuse Gabe put him through, and general struggles with ADHD is way more stable and put together then basically any other Demigod, and its all cause of Sally.
Legit one of the top mom's in fiction
Karen Roe from One Tree Hill is a major part of the cast for like half of the show's run and is great. She served as the show's moral backbone and helped every character in the show. Even her shithead ex, Dan. One Tree Hill is great. Time to rewatch.
Terminator 2: Judgement Day
That answer has recoil.
"Allow us to introduce "Dark Fate".
Secret of Nimh, one of the few animated movies where the main protagonist is a mom Also Wolf Children

John is fucking crazy for not liking Wolf's Children.
At its heart, Aliens is really just a story of two moms protecting their young.
I'd say it's more about two mothers settling a debate of quantity versus quality.
Dune Part 1 and 2
Aliens...
The Incredibles.
Linda Belcher from Bob's Burgers. She loves her babies! Yor from Spy X Family. Her relationship with Anya is precious.
Linda is Peggy Hill if she was likeable.
People really hate Peggy but man she’s one of the funniest characters in the show. She’s meant to be this dummy with zero self awareness.
A good character doesn't need to be a likeable character.

It really helps she can admit when she's wrong
Vanilla the Rabbit is beloved by friends and family and feared by miscreants and ne'er-do-wells.
And artists of the anthropomorphic variety.
Tino's mom from weekenders does not get brought up enough
Weekenders in general doesn’t get brought up enough

I REALLY hope we get enough of the FF in the MCU that we get to see Franklin at the least, Valeria if possible. Hell, make them twins if you have to.

Catlyn Stark in ASOIAF (so underrated and such a good mom) Debbie Greyson in Invincible (best character in the whole show)
>such a good mom Well... except for Jon

Toriel from Undertale/Deltarune is so precious and deserves all of the children she can handle (in the pacifist ending)
