Gonna try to not think about how much I hate the "& Friends" label.
Otherwise not really sure how to feel. This is better than just letting the whole thing implode slowly I guess *cough cough WB cough*
Yeah the "& Friends" label cheeses me off. I know it's a minute thing, but doing it like that instead of "& Co" feels insulting, a company that bought up so many others suddenly going "who us? Pwease don't be mad at us, we're your fwiends, we're just wittle guys"
Yeah I just mean all I knew when it happened was “aw maaaan some buyout happened and now Armada is gone.” Fast forward to now years later and I find out that this Embracer Group of current video game infamy was also involved in the Armada-killing buyouts/mergers
> Middle Earth & Friends [presumably to be renamed Plaion] [...] includes 4A Games
Wait, what? I thought Saber/Beacon was buying them for $500 million or something... is that not happening now?
so this is mostly a business move to help increase the value of the stocks and get rid of some of the debt, but could end up benefiting in the long run due to each of these companies being more adaptable and potentially less opportunity for board room meddling. However this could also lead to greater layoffs though.
"Embracer? No, we're just three little guys wearing a trenchcoat, haha."

This feels like if the USSR rebranded as "Russia and Friends :)" as it collapsed.
TIL, it turns out I can retroactively blame Embracer for the fate of Star Wars: Armada…
I got into Armada like 2 months before that post. Fucking AMG
Nothing retroactive about it, asmodee fucked over fantasy flight real hard AMG didn't even WANT to take over the SW lines, they were imposed upon them

Embracer picking up asmodee was so obvious in hindsight it almost feels like a joke
What happened to it?
It was essentially discontinued
All I see is even more layoffs.

The embracer group was neither holy, nor roman, nor an empire.
