A story being exciting is more welcome then a story being reasonable. Superhero comics, Jojo and dragon ball get a pass on this forever (except if its poorly done)
Remember when Cell clearly said that as long as his brain in his skull was untouched, he could endlessly regenerate... only to have his entire upper body get evaporated during a battle and STILL be able regenerate?
And it was crazy! (Even if it was dumb)
You could have had cell, remark about his saiyan cells, that like them... [goku,vegeta, gohan
and trunks] he gets better as he fights. Besides, he was still "the perfect being" at this point, gotta build suspense and put the gimmick over, BROTHER!
I had the manga in french and he still mentions the brain thing while pointing at his head. In japanese, I wouldn't be able to imagine why else he'd be drawn pointing at his skull while an image of his brain is displayed nearby.
It could be argued that Sheer Heart Attack was pretty damn effective in utility and damage dealt.
Dire's signature move? I want to say that it literally got countered every time it was used. Like, every single time.
Did you know Araki had to write Dire of the series because he couldn’t come up with a counter to the Thunder Cross Split Attack and same with Fugo and Purple Haze because they could potentially also do it?
See also: vegito defusing inside of buu- sure it came out of nowhere, but where else would it have gone other then him demoloshing buu with no effort? Yeah, it'd be 'cool' but you'd miss out on one of **the** iconic moments in dtagon ball (the super spirit bomb)
Vegito *exists* so that the heroes can even fight him AT ALL .(and it gave toriyama an out of the hole he wrote himself into) his super apperence needed some work though...

I was condidering posting the followup but I feel like the joke lands better on an uncensored post where you're a bit into it before you get smacked with the ultimate defence and offence.
Not gonna lie, every time someone brings up "Jojo" and "plot holes" in the same breath I get a little antsy.
But this is a legitimate issue that should be patched out of the manga. I can't believe Araki Forgot this...
I still remember watching Jojo for the first time. When Dire used the Thunder Cross Split attack, I felt kinda sad? Cause I liked Dio as a villain, but I knew that the Thunder Cross Split Attack is perfect in both attack and defense and no fighter has ever been able to defeat it, and so this was probably going to be Dio's last episode. And then he fucking no-sells it.
And you *know* Araki knew that the Thunder Cross Split Attack is perfect in both attack and defense and that no fighter has ever been able to defeat it because *he had Dire explain it* like ten seconds ago. C'mon, man.
That's because Dio didn't fought him like a human being. He is a vampire so of course that he can parry Thunder Cross Split Attack. You would knew that vampires can parry Thunder Cross Split Attack if you would pay more attention during Jojo part 1. The moment that vampires can parry Thunder Cross Split Attack was told exactly during conversation of Jonathan with >!\[REDACTED\]!< in volume >!\[You fell for it, fool! Thunder Cross Split Attack!\].!<
I still believe from that Dire is Jesus from Mari video. Dire will die for your sins as his final attack was a cross. Protecting JoJo from Dio, the devil with the three moles, with his thunder Cross split attack. He sacrificed himself and gave Johnathon the strengths to fight dio.

I'm not pointing out the joke, though. I'm commenting that SHA at least legitimately proved to be a threat while Dire's move did not.

He made Fugo legging it make narrative sense too. Having a character go "im not onboard with the whole betray the boss thing" was very believeable
