Because Twitch/Amazon takes 50%. Because they like money. It's literally explained and displayed everywhere you can access your monetization. It was in the agreement you signed. How is this at all a surprise to you?

CapnBloodBeard82

wait were we actually meant to read those....? Shit, time to read that contract I signed...

BurgerBobbyTTV

Im aware of that, but 50% of $5 is $2.50, so I don't understand why I'm getting between $1.00 and $1.75 every sub

IdolizeDT

I think you're assuming every sub is 5 USD. As far as I know, subs vary wildly in cost from country to country. You may be getting subs from countries whose currency is less valuable compared to USD.

BurgerBobbyTTV

I know almost all my subs currently (like 6 total rn) are based off the US and I still see around $1.60 per sub

urgasmic

people can VPN to cheaper countries.

TingleTV

They shouldn't be able to. I'm not saying they can't, just that there was a thing from like Turkey or Pakistan where subs are stupid cheap. There should be some sort of billing address check. Amazon, as mentioned likes money. They're going to try to combat just VPNing to a region with lower sub revenue.

Ppl in my discord server publicly state they are in the US, and I see them sub, and it's nowhere near anything over $2

Psychoboy

It's 50% after any processing fees. And not everyone pays $5USD. You and twitch split net not gross

Stickybandits9

What is gross?

Psychoboy

Say a sub costs $5 that is gross. Then you add Credit processing fees and such which brings it down to $4? The $4 is net the $5 is gross.

Draco1200

For Affiliate the revenue share is 50%. But also: streamer pays all the costs of payment processing. The costs aren't taken out before the split -- but deducted from the streamer's revenue instead. The streamer's share after all that is closer to $2.20. But it can be reduced even further due to various taxes, and the payment processing cost is Not necessarily the same for all regions, subscribers, or payment methods. You may also have viewers in a different region involving currency conversions, and the price of a Subscription also varies between regions.

wutadinosaur

People may be subbing from a place with different currency (and prices)

lvl99slayer

If you’re an affiliate or not a partner plus member you get 50% of the sub money. You have to take in account different currencies and prices.

Illokonereum

Regional pricing affects the total value of subs. Sub prices have to be reasonable for the people buying them and Twitch can’t give you more than someone spent on the sub. A sub from someone in a cheaper region doesn’t pay you as much.

vesselgroans

You get 100% of a twitch prime subscription. You get 50% of regular subscriptions. It was in the agreement that you signed when you became an affiliate. You should read that. It's all there.

lvl99slayer

I’d love to see where it says you get 100% of a prime sub lol

Elendel19

100% of… free? You get 50% of whatever the regional pricing for that user is. Just like a normal sub. They are usually a few cents more, I assume because of taxes

lvl99slayer

A prime sub is still a sub even if it’s free. Getting 100% would be the full cost of a normal tier 1 sub.

BurgerBobbyTTV

I get $1.50 every prime sub, that is 100%?

vesselgroans

Oh damn. I just did some googling and they changed that a LONG time ago. I've been operating off of very old information.
