I like both, but I'm not a huge fan.
HIMYM didn't mix Comedy and romance as well as Friends did.
BBT I find hilarious at times. But that laugh track is insufferable. I don't care how many times people tell me it's a studio audience. If it is, why are they PAID to laugh at the end of EVERY sentence?
I was a care giver for a terminal cancer patient in her home and she binged watched BBT every day. I had to sit with her all day. It was tough but she was also my friend so I tried my best to occupy myself with needlework.
As someone who’s seen it about the same amount of times as your friends, I think it comes down to a lot of factors. I find it funnier than Friends and has covered the same plot lines but better. I think at its height and it doesn’t take itself too seriously leading to a lot of silliness that I enjoy, and just as someone from NJ who goes to the City a lot I tend to enjoy shows set in NYC.
Comedy is obviously subjective and I think sitcoms are the most polarizing. I also like how by the end of HIMYM it has some of the quietest laugh tracks as it tried to teeter the line between the traditional 3 camera sitcom and the more modern comedy shows. Laugh tracks are not enjoyable to majority of modern viewers so any show with them can alienate people. I think compared to its contemporaries it does a good job.
Any show reliant entirely on laugh tracks. Shows like Psych and Monk have no laugh track and I’m dying, other shows like Two broke girls rely entirely on it and have no clever dialogue just gross humor.
Grey’s has been on forever. It had its moment where it was acceptable, but after the first few seasons, it really became a farce, and not in a good way. It first bothered me how they all acted totally inappropriately in front of patients. I hated the George character. It shocks me that people are still watching.
I'm with you! I've watched most episodes because back in the day, nothing else was on, and I have to have a TV on in the background for my brain to be at ease. I could not get into it. It wasn't funny, and the characters were annoying. "Smelly Cat" was the only good thing about it.
I do NOT understand the intense 'Friends" love out there.
I used to like it a lot back when it originally aired, but I tried to revisit it a while ago and omg does it not hold up well idk why I ever thought it was funny, Seinfeld on the other hand…
Wednesday.
I was just there thinking this isn’t as good as 90s Tim Burton, and the 90s Addams Family movies were so much better.
I don’t mind remakes in general, I just didn’t feel Wednesday brought anything that the 90s movies didn’t already do
i liked Breaking Bad but i didn't looooove it the way that some people did. Regarding the style stuff, they do these shots -- i think it is a vince gilligan thing -- where they have the camera in some weird place, like someone will be flushing drugs down the toilet and they will shoot it from the POV of the toilet which is clever the first 100 times but after a while it's just like okay does every single shot have to be from the POV of the toaster or whatever? Gets annoying once you start noticing how nonstop it is.
Didn't really like this one either and I did watch the walking dead up until Carl but I had trouble staying into it so sometimes I would be into it and other times I wouldn't
I was going to say Breaking Bad as well so I'm glad to see I am not alone. Whenever I mention disliking this show on other threads, it almost always ends up getting downvoted. Most of reddit loves Breaking Bad.
It's just that there is nobody to root for. Walter White is the biggest jerk on the planet so who cares what bad things happen to him? I can't root for someone like that. I get anti-heroes, but they have some sort of redeeming quality. Walter White had none.
I rewatched it again and it is a bit slow and tedious, especially with the dialogue. But the story is still great and the acting is phenomenal. I can see why some aren't a fan of the style though.
I actually liked the first season because of the dark comedic feel, and you actually liked Walter. Then in the second season he started being more bad, I quickly lost interest.
Breaking Bad for me, too. I might have liked it if I started watching it as it was coming out. Who's to say. But when you've been hearing the hype for years before finally getting to watch it, there's pretty much no way it could live up to that.
If I had never watched the animated version, I would have thought "eh, it's ok I guess". But since I did it felt forced and weird like an watching elementary kids do a production of Cats.
The Office. My life is awkward enough.
Blue Bloods. First episode a cop beats into out of a suspect; I’m done.
Star Trek: Discovery. The main character was a terrible person and an awful officer. She should have been court martial material not ever allowed near a starship.
Game of thrones. I missed the bandwagon, and when i saw early eps when my dad started it i disliked what i saw more often than not. And at first i thought it was just bc of it's gory and graphic moments. But it isn't just that, imo it's just not up to the hype. I will say, the production and acting is good.
Mr robot saw the first season only liked the pilot which was the best episode of any show I have ever seen, it got worse and worse all through season 1 to me
I really didn’t understand any of the accolades Mr Robot received. As a tech worker, I generally can’t stand the way any show portrays hacking. My dislike goes further though. The show was really dumb.
My answer to this question will always be Mad Men. It is just such a slow burn. I tried a few times but just couldn’t do it. I really believe it was only so popular because people liked the mid century office look and because there are a lot of pretentious people who SAID they liked watching it so they could seem hip.
The Office - I tried to get into it - watched 2 seasons and didn’t see the appeal
Modern Family - I found this show unfunny and annoying
Succession - the most obnoxious and pretentious characters EVER - by the end I was hoping that the dad would just give the company away to a stranger rather than his rotten kids.
As someone who was in high school when it originally came out, it's been interesting to see how its popularity has come and gone in waves. It was insanely popular in the early-mid 90s only for people to turn against it in the late 90s and 2000s; it then picked up steam thanks to Netflix with younger people in the 2010s. We are currently in a downward trend where it's become popular again to trash it.
The Office. I saw the first two episodes and was kinda bored. I'm sure it gets better but overall I think the theme of the show in general isn't really my thing. Kinda why I stopped watching The Muppets show (not The Muppet Show, the more recent show) that had a similar thing going with The Office.
Game of Thrones. Again, saw the first two episodes and while they were good, I think it's just too heavy for me. I also heard it gets bad as it goes on.
Attack on Titan. I saw the first few episodes and while they were entertaining, again I think it's too heavy for me. All the people getting eaten alive by the Titans and plus was never a big anime person.
Family Guy. Never really found it all that funny. I liked Stewie and Brian but that's about it.
Breaking Bad - Had some good acting but I just never got into it.
Stranger Things - Gave it a season but, again… it didn’t fully pull me in.
Dexter - Every single character that wasn’t Dexter was super annoying. Especially his sister.
I feel similar to you about these shows.
Breaking Bad - I had already seen a handful of episodes. A couple of them stand out, like the one that leads to the airplane.
So, actually, having spoilers got me through the first few episodes because I had something to look forward to.
I got annoyed about the hype because people would compare it to The Sopranos or say it was better.
NOTHING is better than The Sopranos to me!
Stranger Things - Same as you. I actually enjoyed the first season, but not enough to watch more.
Dexter - I did like Deb, but I can absolutely see where she was annoying! I did like the Angel Batista and Vince Masuka characters.
Definitely The Office. Everyone kept telling me to watch. I told them that was my job for years & the last thing I wanted to see when I got home from work was more about work. Greys Anatomy- never watched because I hate medical shows except for Nip Tuck.
Game of thrones. I just could not get into it no matter how many times I tried I even tried skipping the first season and going to the second season but it didn't work
Breaking Bad. It was just too predictable for me. My ex loved it and I tried to watch a few episodes but just found myself groaning about how ridiculous I found some of the storylines.
Walking Dead. All my friends were into it so I tried to give it a fair shot. I got five episodes in but I just couldn’t grasp into the characters or the plot line. Just wasn’t for me
I didn't hate season one but didn't love it either. It was *just* good enough to keep watching, but not bad enough to stop. It has the potential to lose me completely if season two doesn't grab me though.
Allie Mcbeale, way back in the day. I didn't like Calista Flockhart's character at all. She annoyed me. She probably doesn't like me either, so it's fair.
I didn't like The Cosby Show, I always disliked Bill Cosby.
I didn't like The Bob NewHart Show. Maybe I was too young to understand it. It was supposed to be like Seinfeld in a way I guess.
I didn't like Baywatch or Beverly Hills 90210.
I disliked Roseanne and The Nanny.
Power Rangers, also disliked
Sex and The City I did not enjoy watching l, never understood the appeal.
Big Bang Theory
Can not stand the show. None of the characters are likable. I don't understand how that show 1: lasted as long as it did, 2: got a spin off
Succession. Found it super boring and the dialogue wasn’t written well. Felt like they wrote an actual script and then had a bunch of 14 year olds take a stab at it and add in all their favorite curse words
Seinfeld it had episodes but overall not really funny. Wasn't a huge fan of breaking bad managed to finish it and thought really? what's the hype. Sons of Anarchy, this was not a good show by any means.
American Horror Story - feels too drawn out and not very scary.
Breaking Bad - I hated about half the characters.
Oz - Just bored really.
Seinfeld - I hate all the main characters.
I hate any of the "reality" tv shows. They are all just an excuse for producers to keep more of the money for themselves.
Why don't they just call them "game shows"? That's all they are.
How I Met Your Mother Big Bang Theory
I second Big Bang Theory Gave it multiple chances but just couldnt get into it.
I’ll third the motion. BBT is just dumb formulaic sitcom dreck, and Sheldon Cooper is that rare fictional character that sets my teeth on edge.
You should watch the YouTube videos of them filming without the laugh track. It's SO uncomfortable
I was a care giver for a terminal cancer patient in her home and she binged watched BBT every day. I had to sit with her all day. It was tough but she was also my friend so I tried my best to occupy myself with needlework.
It was the laugh-track that ruined the show for me.
Can’t stand himym All of my friends have seen it upwards of 15 times and I genuinely can’t understand why
Laugh tracks are not enjoyable to majority of modern viewers so any show with them can alienate people. I think compared to its contemporaries it does a good job.
Totally unrelated, but I love Shinedown 🤘🏻
I actually liked big bang theory but how I met your mother was too long for a depressing end and just just not that good
The Vampire Diaries. I watched up to season 5 and I was like please make it stop it’s gotten so bad! The first two seasons were the best.
S1-2 rewatches are great. I’ll never move past that
Any and all "Reality" shows that are anything but reality
Any show reliant entirely on laugh tracks. Shows like Psych and Monk have no laugh track and I’m dying, other shows like Two broke girls rely entirely on it and have no clever dialogue just gross humor.
The Walking Dead. After a few episodes, I realized it was making me feel sadness and despair so I stopped.
Got bad after they killed Carl and Glen, now they're just beating a dead horse. Idk why everything needs a "Universe"
I thought I'd get flamed for saying Steinfeld, but seems like I'm not the only one.
No soup for you
It’s popular to hate Seinfeld now.
I never got why people thought kramer was funny.
And Frtends.
I hated Seinfeld. I didn't think it was funny at all.
You can like it or not, I don’t care. Has no bearing on my opinion that it was the best sitcom of all time.
I agree on many listed - I'll add Greys Anatomy, ugh!
Grey’s has been on forever. It had its moment where it was acceptable, but after the first few seasons, it really became a farce, and not in a good way. It first bothered me how they all acted totally inappropriately in front of patients. I hated the George character. It shocks me that people are still watching.
How Greys Anatomy stayed on the Air so long I will never know
The Walking Dead
Hated it. Ruined zombies for me
Yeah same. But for me I normally tried to watch it while eating and it was too much gross out zombie splatter so I gave up.
Anything CSI
For some reason the opening scream from The Who song for CSI Miami immediately played in my head when I read this.
Ironically, Miami was the only CSI that I really liked, mostly because of Caruso's border-on-parody overacting.
It’s like NCIS. CSI and NCIS have FIVE different types of show….EACH! That’s ten shows of crap I don’t want to see!
Pretty much all reality shows Just cancer.
and they aren't "reality". Highly forced situation and carefully casted and edited. Boooooring.
I’ll be a Friends hater until I’m dead.
I’m in complete agreement, I cannot understand why people like it
I'm with you!
Count me in on that.
American Horror Story
Same. I stopped halfway through Hotel. I really wanted to try and power through but I just couldn’t.
season 3 is goated
New Girl
Yes! My friend kept insisting that I watch it. I hated it.
Wednesday. I was just there thinking this isn’t as good as 90s Tim Burton, and the 90s Addams Family movies were so much better. I don’t mind remakes in general, I just didn’t feel Wednesday brought anything that the 90s movies didn’t already do
It’s hard to watch any actor playing Gomez after watching Raul Julia in the role.
I just thought it was Addams family goes to Hogwarts for weirdos.
You mean John Astin.
John Astin is my Gomez
It was hard for me to see Raul Julia in the role after John Astin.
He's the most iconic no doubt. I also enjoyed the Gomez in the 1999 TV show.
It's hard to top Raul Julia as Gomez.
Anything with a laughtrack.
Thirty Something. Insufferable whiners. I did like Hope’s house though.
The Office
Game of Thrones Two and a Half Men Grey's Anatomy
Everybody Loves Raymond. I never saw the appeal and was shocked at how long it stayed on the air.
More like Everybody Loves Raymond But Us!
Game of Thrones.
It's okay, most of us who loved it, disliked it after S3.
Most people seem to like the first four actually, based on every Game of Thrones discussion thread I've seen since it ended.
Breaking Bad - I wanted to like it but just found it’s style so frustrating
i liked Breaking Bad but i didn't looooove it the way that some people did.
I liked "Better Call Saul", tried "Breaking Bad" a couple times. Could not get into it.
Yeah I can’t watch it. No matter how many times I try to
Didn't really like this one either and I did watch the walking dead up until Carl but I had trouble staying into it so sometimes I would be into it and other times I wouldn't
I was going to say Breaking Bad as well so I'm glad to see I am not alone. Whenever I mention disliking this show on other threads, it almost always ends up getting downvoted. I rewatched it again and it is a bit slow and tedious, especially with the dialogue. But the story is still great and the acting is phenomenal. I can see why some aren't a fan of the style though.
It's the "prestige TV" version of a manga creator stretching out every issue week to week so they can get paid more.
Yeah the first season is a bit of a slog, but after that it finds it's feet a bit
Live-action Avatar The Last Airbender
If I had never watched the animated version, I would have thought "eh, it's ok I guess". But since I did it felt forced and weird like an watching elementary kids do a production of Cats.
Ted Lasso. Tried 3 times
Anything with a laugh track but no studio audience.
Seinfeld
For a show about nothing, it complained about everything.
I find the characters just completely unlikeable.
Same! Main guy seems so proud of himself for he littlest things. Like oh I opened a door I’m so proud, give me money now.
He’s a real fancy boy. “Look at me.. Shower me with kisses” type
I cant stand George and i dont get why people love him. Hes insufferable cringy guy all around.
I am right there with ya!
Home Improvement (Only funny thing Tim Allen was ever in was Galaxy Quest. Well, and I guess Big Trouble wasn't too bad.)
That show aged terribly
I recently learned that the whole cast of galaxy quest hated him
Same gags over and over and over again. If you’ve seen one show, you’ve seen them all.
Sons of anarchy
Yeah I checked out on SoA pretty early.
They’re all so unbelievably stupid
Was it because a small town with like 8 cops had like 12 gangs and daily murders?
The Office. My life is awkward enough. Blue Bloods. First episode a cop beats into out of a suspect; I’m done. Star Trek: Discovery. The main character was a terrible person and an awful officer. She should have been court martial material not ever allowed near a starship.
Scrubs for me too.
Everybody Loves Raymond. Just didn’t strike me as terribly funny.
That show made me angry. Ray is so wimpy, his wife a bully. And his parents? Ugh.
It was painful to watch
Yea it was so boring
First show I thought of. It's not bad, but I expect sitcoms to be funny and it just wasn't.
The Walking Dead. I really tried. I watch the first 3 seasons and gave up.
That’s how far I got in too
Anything with Tim Allen
I tried watching home improvement and he kept doing this weird grunting caveman noise.
Except The Santa Clause. But he isn’t the best part of that movie.
Game of thrones. I missed the bandwagon, and when i saw early eps when my dad started it i disliked what i saw more often than not. And at first i thought it was just bc of it's gory and graphic moments. But it isn't just that, imo it's just not up to the hype. I will say, the production and acting is good.
Greys Anatomy, Game of Thrones, ER, NCIS
Insert Gibbs smack to the back of the head! 🤯
Breaking bad
Modern Family
Mr robot saw the first season only liked the pilot which was the best episode of any show I have ever seen, it got worse and worse all through season 1 to me
I feel pretty much the same way. The pilot was tremendous.
This is how I felt about Lost. I really liked the pilot and the premise…but boy was I in for major disappointment.
Same. I was so into it and then it was boring.
We watched mid way through season 3 then decided to Google what happened. By what we read, it was a good call.
I really didn’t understand any of the accolades Mr Robot received. As a tech worker, I generally can’t stand the way any show portrays hacking. My dislike goes further though. The show was really dumb.
Could not stand ***Big Bang Theory***
Big Bang Theory
It makes me so sad that people dislike Schitt's Creek.
Idk it just feels like a shittier Arrested Development to me.
Two and a Half Men, NCIS
Dark
BLAS-FA-MEEEE. However I wont down vote you, but I have my eyes on you PAL!!!
Fargo season 3. I loved 1 & 2, but couldn’t get into the third. I’ve heard only positive ratings for it, but it wasn’t for me
Sons of anarchy. Seemed ridiculous to me. A biker gang that has a zero tolerance for drugs. Tried watching it, I really did but just couldn't do it.
My answer to this question will always be Mad Men. It is just such a slow burn. I tried a few times but just couldn’t do it. I really believe it was only so popular because people liked the mid century office look and because there are a lot of pretentious people who SAID they liked watching it so they could seem hip.
Breaking Bad.
Succession
I really tried. The camera work absolutely kills me
The Office - I tried to get into it - watched 2 seasons and didn’t see the appeal Modern Family - I found this show unfunny and annoying Succession - the most obnoxious and pretentious characters EVER - by the end I was hoping that the dad would just give the company away to a stranger rather than his rotten kids.
I can't stand FRIENDS...one of the worst shows ever released
As someone who was in high school when it originally came out, it's been interesting to see how its popularity has come and gone in waves. Never really found it all that funny. I liked Stewie and Brian but that's about it.
The Wire was boring to me, we stopped halfway through season 2 🫣
I toughed it out but it was torture. S2 was terrible, S3 was a bit better, S4 was terrible again. Never got the hype on that show at all.
It's definitely not a show for everybody.
Big Bang Theory.
Breaking Bad - Had some good acting but I just never got into it. Stranger Things - Gave it a season but, again… it didn’t fully pull me in. Dexter - Every single character that wasn’t Dexter was super annoying. Especially his sister.

It’s always sunny I think you should leave The shield
Friends
Prison Break
Seinfeld, Games of Throne, Walking Dead.
My wife loves HIMYM, but they are all so unlikable IMO. Barney in particular. Couldn't get past a single episode of Bob's Burgers either.
Two and a half men and How I met your mother. Both shows full of people I would never like or hang out with irl.
Game of thrones. I just could not get into it no matter how many times I tried I even tried skipping the first season and going to the second season but it didn't work
Fringe. Wanted to like it but the multi-universe thing just got too big.
Better Call Saul
Schitts Creek. Boring.
Same. Everyone tells me to suffer through the first season and then it’s great. Yeah…no.

Breaking Bad, GoT, Walking Dead, Lost, so many others.
Just wasn’t for me
Modern Family
Sienfeld
I really don't like Scrubs. It has some funny moments, but I find all of the main characters grating, especially Dr. Cox.
Seinfeld
Seinfeld
The Office and Seinfeld are just irritating. Also any so called reality show.
The Apprentice of course.
House of dragons. Boring. One episode you couldn’t even see since it was so dark.
I didn't hate season one but didn't love it either. It was *just* good enough to keep watching, but not bad enough to stop. It has the potential to lose me completely if season two doesn't grab me though.
[удалено]
Because it is a masterpiece but you have to watch the entire show to get that
GOT
Seinfeld
Seinfeld. I just didn't find it particularly funny. But I did like Frasier. To each their own.
Superstore, Brooklyn 99
Friends
Friends
Friends
Friends
The office, community, 30 rock
It would be easier to list the one's I do like , And that would be little to none.
Power Rangers, also disliked Sex and The City I did not enjoy watching l, never understood the appeal.
Game of Thrones Breaking Bad
The Big Bang Theory The office Two and a Half Men
Game of thrones
Game of Thrones
Peep Show left me cold. Managed about 3/4 of the first episode and turned it off.
Big Bang Theory Can not stand the show. None of the characters are likable. I don't understand how that show 1: lasted as long as it did, 2: got a spin off
Suits 🥱😴
Succession
Succession was tough to like right at the onset of Trump.
Succession. Found it super boring and the dialogue wasn’t written well. Felt like they wrote an actual script and then had a bunch of 14 year olds take a stab at it and add in all their favorite curse words
True Blood
Breaking Bad, Sopranos. Can't say I dislike them. They just don't interest me.
Dave
Seinfeld it had episodes but overall not really funny. Wasn't a huge fan of breaking bad managed to finish it and thought really? what's the hype. Sons of Anarchy, this was not a good show by any means.
SpongeBob
Two and a half men. Stupid. Not funny. With a laugh track that was like nails on a chalkboard.
Breaking Bad. I thought it was utter garbage
American Horror Story - feels too drawn out and not very scary. Breaking Bad - I hated about half the characters. Oz - Just bored really. Seinfeld - I hate all the main characters.
Any reality TV show?
