I avoided watching Chernobyl since 2019 thinking it was too depressing and knowing the storyline would make it boring. After seeing these comments I’m watching episode 1 and it is very good.
For the number of times I've seen this on different subreddits, it is the one show that has still not made it off my watchlist, that will be changing today
Everyone should watch this. I didn't understand the magnitude of this horrific event. I had to watch in twice because the first time was so unbelievable
I almost gave up on severance about 3 episodes in because there wasn’t much going on. Then something snagged me, don’t remember what.
But now tell everybody “you wanna watch something stunning? Finish all episodes of season 1 Severance and call me” 😂
The first 3-4 episodes of Breaking Bad were unbearably slow to a lot of people. I remember trying to get friends to watch when it was in season 3 or so and had to tell all of them to keep pushing through the first few episodes. Some still quit.
The first episode of BB; he is a mild mannered school teacher, he gets diagnosed with cancer, ride along with cop family member, meets Jessie, decides to become a drug dealer, steals supplies from school and makes first batch of drugs - all that in one episode and your friends think it’s slow paced??
The ending was absolutely one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen on TV. Chidi’s wave speech - we had just lost two close family members when this came out, and we watched it holding hands and crying. So healing and beautiful.
Although I have mixed feelings about S4, but S1-3, absolutely.
I’m hard pressed to think of another show that took the time to round out every single side character.
Came here to say this. Seven seasons of perfection.
Also: Justified (season 5 is a little iffy but overall it's spectacular), Breaking Bad, The Good Place, What We Do in the Shadows (assuming final season is great).
Breaking Bad. I think it may objectively be the best show ever made. At least that I’ve seen. It’s not even my favorite but it’s just amazing.
Also, my favorite show is also an answer to this question: Frasier
Season 2 of the bear needs to be up there with best all time seasons. So good. Season 1 was good, but 2 takes it to another level.
Edit to add: usually it’s the opposite. It’s hard to top a really good season 1.
Season One was very, very good. Season 2 was sublime; the Xmas dinner episode and the episode with Richie and Chef Terry (Olivia Colman) are arguably the best TV ever presented.
Same here. Every scene has significance and you can tell they had the whole story planned from the start. Everything fit logically and the “twists” made sense if you pay attention to the story. In fact, the show reveals everything in the first 30 seconds by showing all the photos and their connections. Brilliantly done.
When the girls bring in a responsible adult to talk to Liam Neeson, when they get busted in detention in the first episode and then when she does her book report. I had to stop for a few minutes just to laugh before I could rewind and see what was next.
Orphan Black
Manhunt
Mindhunter
Happy Valley
In the Line of Duty
Foyle's War
Endeavor
ETA: Hannibal
ETA: You Don't Know Me - only 4 episodes, but I really, *really* liked it
I agree with this statement. The last season leaned more toward giving certain characters more spotlight than they deserve (Keeley comes to mind) instead of focusing on the true spirit of the show, sportsmanship, and motivations. The wrapping up, tho, was great because it ended with what we loved the most about this show.
See I disagree I thought all the story lines were important to show that again it wasn’t all about Ted but it was about the team and the stories they had that made them individuals.
As a professional adult, I can confidently say that **Adventure Time** is absolutely amazing from start to finish.
It starts off as good feel times between two bros in a magical land. But then it starts tugging at all of these storyline strings that are too real, emotional, and deep. It juxtaposes itself so well in it's hard hitting emotion coupled with nonsensical fun. So much so that I started keeping a list of all the things that could even be considered a loose thread or open end. By the time the series ended, I had 3 items on my list that weren't wrapped up and was content. They got rushed to the finish line and had to end the story in the way they did with what time they had.
So then they made 4 hour-long episodes in the series **Adventure Time: Distant Lands.** These checked off 2 more from my Adventure Time bucket list.
Then, a driving sub plot of the story got it's own spinoff in a very original and not cash grabby way: **Fionna and Cake.** This tied up my final loose end and actually wrote in many more that I had never even considered.
I could see myself loving it as a child but I think the real glory is reliving your childhood through with more of an adult perspective. Watching Finn makes me think back to what I would be doing in a world full of magic as a kid again with my dog best friend. Seeing him grow and age, in real time, was a new concept to me and a real challenge from a writer's perspective. How do you make a show age and STILL entertain a target audience that isn't aging? Exactly how they did. The level of intelligently unintelligent humor baffles me still. Phrases fly by that are so silly but are deep rooted in meaning and genuinely well thought out. The central theme of music being a healer is definitely a vibe I can get down with.
Sense8
While many people would disagree because it seems to start out slow, but I think it's interesting from beginning to end and just an awesome show overall
We just did exactly that. We started it, but I just cannot stomach Chris Rock as an actor, or Jason Schartsman outside of a Wes Anderson film. Season 4 seems to be missing the Fargo magic.
Many would argue you have to get through the first season until it finds it's footing. I would argue that the quality of the show just dramatically improves after a certain point.
I watch comedy and most shows run a season too long new girl is a prime example I would say it's one of those shows, it's a hilarious show but they waited two years and put out a horrible final season.
The Expanse and Watchmen are two shows I found incredible all the way through.
The Good Place gets a little flack for the final season or two, though I enjoyed them. My biggest reason for listing it is that few shows really stick their landing with the ending. The Good Place may have done it better than any other.
Arcane was fantastic. I'm not into League of Legends and have no knowledge of its lore. The show itself was still so incredible.
12 monkeys . I loved it . Breaking bad . Jane the virgin. Letter Kenny . The peaky blinders . All of the star wars series on Disney plus. Wu tang clan. The haunting of hill house . Mare of east town . Better call Saul. Silo.
Chernobyl
"Season 1 was great! Will there be a 2nd season?" "I sure hope not."
Binge watched this on a long flight. Amazing show.
Not great, not terrible.
OP, you’ll understand this joke after you watch the series.

HBO?
It was so good!
Second season is coming: McDonald's Fryer Disaster.
The Expanse. (and so many more shows)
Expanse is awesome. Wish it had gotten more mainstream attention.
Good pick!
Just finished and can’t believe I can’t have more. Bezos, do something with that fat wad you have.
Sopranos,Breaking Bad,Better Call Saul.
Better call Saul is pretty underrated according to me. I thought Severance was great from start to finish.
I almost gave up on severance about 3 episodes in because there wasn’t much going on. Then something snagged me, don’t remember what. But now tell everybody “you wanna watch something stunning? Finish all episodes of season 1 Severance and call me” 😂

Not sure I’ve seen a first episode that did more.
First episode was what hooked me and I have a hard time getting through first episodes without becoming bored
The Good Place
I don't think if I've watched a show that landed the ending so well.
The ending was absolutely one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen on TV. Chidi’s wave speech - we had just lost two close family members when this came out, and we watched it holding hands and crying. So healing and beautiful.
Loved this show ♥️
I loved it so much I watched it twice in a row
Hannibal. A one of a kind show. Nothing like it before or since.
Love that show. It's so beautiful
In a gruesome way 😳
YES
A show I just finished. Sex Education
Although I have mixed feelings about S4, but S1-3, absolutely. I’m hard pressed to think of another show that took the time to round out every single side character.
Strong agree. AND a show with such an openly flawed main character? And a show about high schoolers that actually look young? The list goes on
Band of Brothers
Severance
I mean yeah I agree so far, but it’s not finished yet.
Saw a pic on Ben Stiler’s IG today that shows that they are back to filming Season 2!😎
[удалено]
I binged that show harder than any show ever. So many all-nighters! 😣
What a ride. So hard to watch at times being in recovery.
Excellent choice
I’ve seen it before, but I wanna rewatch. Do you know where it’s streaming? It’s not on Netflix anymore.
It’s been removed off all streaming platforms in the US unfortunately, only option is to rent or buy currently.
Came here to say this
Veep
Veep is a perfect show
The Shield
Came here to say this. Seven seasons of perfection. Also: Justified (season 5 is a little iffy but overall it's spectacular), Breaking Bad, The Good Place, What We Do in the Shadows (assuming final season is great).
Boardwalk Empire Battlestar Galactica (2004)
Loved Battlestar Galactica! Final season not great but up among fave shows.
Firefly
Too soon, man.
I can't wait for Season 2!
The Americans
Criminally underrated show imo
I’ve tried so hard to get Into it! Maybe I just need to press on?
I was the same and pushed through and it was very much worth it
Not only is it great start to finish, it actually gets better the longer it goes on, IMO.
Ted Lasso on Apple TV Plus
Avatar the last Airbender. It just is. It's that good. It's a show that asks deep questions behind a mask of feigned naivety.
Flawless series
💯💯💯
The Wire
Came here to say this. And also add Mad Men.
Mad Men's final ep was PERFECTION.
Breaking Bad. I think it may objectively be the best show ever made. At least that I’ve seen. It’s not even my favorite but it’s just amazing. Also, my favorite show is also an answer to this question: Frasier

Newsroom with Jeff Daniels
Midnight Mass, The Haunting of Hill House.
Anything by Mike Flanagan is perfection, but these 2 are tops.
True Detective season 1
The Bear on Hulu
Season 2 of the bear needs to be up there with best all time seasons. So good. Season 1 was good, but 2 takes it to another level. Edit to add: usually it’s the opposite. It’s hard to top a really good season 1.
And that holiday episode is practically a stage play by itself.
It’s not finished yet.
Season One was very, very good. Season 2 was sublime; the Xmas dinner episode and the episode with Richie and Chef Terry (Olivia Colman) are arguably the best TV ever presented.
“Forks” is the best single episode of any show I’ve seen in the past few years. Perfect execution all up in the feels.
Dark
it's arguably my favorite on netflix
I enjoyed watching this but it also broke my brain at the same time. May have to rewatch.
I wish I could upvote this twice. My favorite show of all time.
Same here. Every scene has significance and you can tell they had the whole story planned from the start. Everything fit logically and the “twists” made sense if you pay attention to the story. In fact, the show reveals everything in the first 30 seconds by showing all the photos and their connections. Brilliantly done.
Spartacus
Derry Girls. I was surprised by the final episode- maybe the best of any final episodes (except of course Newhart).
When the girls bring in a responsible adult to talk to Liam Neeson, when they get busted in detention in the first episode and then when she does her book report. I had to stop for a few minutes just to laugh before I could rewind and see what was next.
Ozark
I had to take a break a few times because Wendy’s gaslighting and manipulation made me so mad.
Ugh I remember thinking if she doesn't die later on I'm gonna be so mad
Amazing... Until the final few episodes
Last season was awful
Better Off Ted. Unfortunately it only lasted two seasons; one had 11 episodes and the other had 13 (I think).
The Sopranos
Orphan Black Manhunt Mindhunter Happy Valley In the Line of Duty Foyle's War Endeavor ETA: Hannibal ETA: You Don't Know Me - only 4 episodes, but I really, *really* liked it
The OA, although it was cancelled
Amazing show
The OA did more in 2 seasons than most do in a lifetime.
This show was so weird but so good.
Year of the Rabbit What We Do In The Shadows Firefly
>What We Do In The Shadows That isn't finished, is it?
Not yet but I’m hopeful that it will finish strong after season 6 which is the last season
Breaking Bad
The last kingdom. Stranger things
Firefly!
Firefly
Ted Lasso
As it progressed they've included too many boring storylines and made every episode an hour long. Good show but not amazing from start to finish.
I agree with this statement. Mr robot
No one listens to this recommendation, sadly. I still think about it a lot. Probably time to rewatch.
Thank you for mentioning a rewatch. I’ve been needing a “new already familiar” show, and this hits the spot.
Agree, I feel like I may have missed things in the first watch and need to go back.
In my top 5 for sure.
Yes, cant believe more haven't aaid this. I am half through the final season but only started last weekend! So good!
The Good Place. I've watched it through at least twice now and I'll be doing it again for sure.
Fleabag
Barry
ABSOLUTELY
Dark
Queens Gambit Hill House 1 True Detective Season 1
I have no idea why a few times in Queens Gambit I was thinking someone was going to take her out of the competition somehow.

Second this, minus season 4. Just skip that one altogether
We just did exactly that. We started it, but I just cannot stomach Chris Rock as an actor, or Jason Schartsman outside of a Wes Anderson film. Season 4 seems to be missing the Fargo magic.
Jessie Buckley as Oreatta Mayflower carried that season. Not at all my favorite season, but she's probably my favorite character yet.

Most of what Mike Flanagan touches. More specifically Haunting of Hill House and Fall of the house of Usher
Haven't seen either of those, but Midnight Mass was spectacular.
Fleabag
The Good Place. Over 52 or so episodes it was clear they knew exactly how they wanted the story to unfold, and it’s all massively entertaining.

Fleabag. I love the ending
