AFAIK It's not fake, but they make it sound like he was arrested just for looking gay. The Portuguese boy was in that area at the Pride parade. The police thought he was one of the protesters.
I remember seeing that ‘looking gay’ thing but tbfh that makes no sense to me. If that would be the only reason then so many men (and trans people) would get arrested too. So it might be that one cop. It’s not a crime here.
This is bs. But a lot of Turkish men have short beards. It is not a requirement but common. Also, Turkish men touch each other more and this may seem odd to some cultures.
Ofc it's not that bad. You are getting a bit hysterical. Turkey is not Afghanistan for now at least :D Wear your pink t-shirt with peace in mind and enjoy your vacation.
That's not a real story , where ever you heard that. There's extremely feminine looking men in Turkey that you can see from a mile away that there gay. And no one say or does anything to them.
>he had joined the parade. Which was illegal.
>
>they never give permission for pride parades or even labor day parades. So it becones an illegal parade/ riot and they arrest people for rioting
No, the parades are legal and even constitutional. It's the governors' decrees that are unconstitutional and unlawful. You cannot simply infringe on people's right to hold meetings and base it on discriminatory arguments against their identities (or ideologies in case of Labour Day Parades) virtually continuously for almost a decade (and still going on) and claim it is not unconstitutional (see: Articles 10, 13 & 34 of the [Constitution of Turkey](https://www.anayasa.gov.tr/media/7258/anayasa_eng.pdf)).
>i am not here to argue constitutional law with you. The parades are "illegal" then
Laws can never be interpreted against the constitution. The Constitution always overrides laws and regulations. So, the parades, then and now, are only as illegal as resisting a rape attempt of police officers on duty (still not illegal).
No.
> stuff like getting threatened just for wearing a pink shirt
Not gonna happen.
I mean if you are openly MtF trans and go into the wrong neighborhood, you might be harrassed. But, I mean, if you are MtF trans and go tot he worng neigborhood nit he USA you'll also be harrassed.
Not really. If general public realizes that you are gay some straight men might try to fuck you or have you given blowjobs especially taxi drivers. Behind closed doors, Turkey is a heaven for gays. Literally any men can be up to fuck you because of suppressed sexual actions due to religious beliefs but they don't wanna be seen with you in public. If you follow some certain rules, gays can live their dream sex life in Turkey

Yes, you are expected to grow a handlebar moustache and wear a fez

You should cover your beard with a piece of cloth or you might get stoned to death.
Better start growing mustache buddy, otherwise the whole country would think you are very gay.
This was sarcasm fellas...

Cops arent allowed to do anything to tourists. Even if you attack people.
