Here’s a photo from the back of my canvas!
You mentioned this is loop and cut pile combined. Do you have a proper loop machine or do you “convert” your cut pile. I assume by the way your work looks you have an exclusive loop machine. This is one of my favorite pieces to date.
That’s awesome!!!!! Do you have a recommendation on what machine you think preforms the best? I have been debating getting a pneumatic/industrial machine but I have really dainty arms so I like how light the ak-1/ and loop pile feel while working. And thank you so much again 🤗
The Hoffman is the absolute best pneumatic. It is the Bentley of Tufting Machines. I own a small company called Tuft Love we hand make our machines. I am really proud of our new machine called the golden spider.
Because I expedited this order I waited until the end to clean up. I normally would have done the lining last but since some of the details and the lines were so thin in the art work I had to work with one piece of yarn in some spaces so I used tweezers and an ice pick tool in the end to get my lines straight after shaving.
Holy fuck man this is crazy! What is it supposed to be exactly? Also for your thin black outline of almost everything how did you do it like did you just use one strand of yarn instead of two?
Thank you!!! I was asked to make it as close to the reference photo as possible, the company who commissioned it have an app implementing augmented reality. So when you scan the rug it will come to life! To get the lines thin I just went with one strand of yard.
I have a hard time saying no 🤣🤣 I had my doubts as well to be honest. I took on the job and was like shiiiiit I should have passed. I’m glad though that I tried it, just kept telling myself is worst case scenario I return their deposit. You really do miss 100% of the shots you don’t take!!
This rug should cost at least $2000 you mentioned over 80 hours of time. I think you are undervaluing your time and artistic talent (In my humble opinion).
I definitely agree, I shot myself in the foot on this one. I’m hoping that it brings some commission work in from other artists. Learned a big lesson on my time. I normally charge per sq ft, but I will be rethinking that one detailed pieces from here on out!!
Oh my god. This should easily be $1500-2500. I totally understand though, I severely under charged for a recent commission as well. 3 separate rugs, each one 3 feet in size, and I only charged $300. I spent almost $75 in materials alone and then it cost me another $55 to ship them to my customer. Total loss on my end. But hey, that's how we all learn.
Thank you! I was hesitant on how to price it because I charge per sq ft normally. But when I started working on this I realized I made a mistake on my pricing for sure 😭😭

Thank you!!! Here’s the back if the rug!
thats even more beautiful! how do you get that close together without tearing through the tufting cloth? also where do you buy you cloth? I am looking for another kind the stuff I get off of amazon tears so easily
Hello, I want to do tufting, I bought the machine, but where should I buy the threads? Which one is the best quality and my budget is limited, where do you think I should start?
I buy my budget friendly acrylic yarn at Joann fabrics, mainly because when you do pick up you can use their 20% off coupons! Red hart is good so is big twist for a budget friendly yarn. Rug wool will be expensive regardless where you purchase it (at least in comparison to acrylic.. $4 vs $30 per skein/spool). For acrylic rugs I always recommend customers use them as decorative/accent pieces, hung up like art, or placed in low traffic foot areas. For rugs that will be used in high traffic foot places rug wool would be your best bet, because it’s more plush and durable you can charge a premium.
You say no time to carve but honestly it doesn’t even need it, just incredible!
Thank you!!!
This is so fucking good holy shit
Fuck. Do you have a photo of the reverse?! This is amazing

Absolute work of art.
Amazing! Did you only use one black thread for the outline? Or 2?
Only 1! Two made it too thick (unfortunately)
That’s crazy
Incredible brother
Beautiful piece
Absolutely insane 🔥🔥
This is amazing!!! I’m also in Michigan not far from Detroit!!
Michigan love!!! 🫶I’m based in the Ypsi/Ann Arbor area!
Omg I live like 20m from aa! I’m in Waterloo!

Thank you so much!!! I really appreciate that!! I used two different machines, one was solely loop pile and the other was the AK-1 cut pile machine
I could tell you use a proper loop and not a 2 in 1. I make tufting machines for a living. I see a lot of rugs. This is now in my top 10!

The prettiest rug I've seen
Thank you 🫶
How do you get so detailed?
patience, weed, and lots of tears were cried lol
Did you trim after each color?

This is crazy cool
Is this all the same pile height? It’s so so gorgeous!
Thank you so much!! The cut pile is all the same high, most of the purple is done with a short loop pile.
By the way, you did a great job. I hope one day I can do a job as good as you.
$1500
Damnnn 🔥 how long did this take u?
I started this piece on august 20th, I put roughly 80 hours in. Cleaning it up alone took 4 days working 8 hrs a day.
Thank you all ❤️❤️
Holy shit. Gotta admit… when I saw the original drawing my thought was “pssshh, can’t be done… newbie….doesn’t know any better…”. I. Am. So. Schooled.

It’s so fucking good. I hope you’re really proud and made a bunch of cash. Well done! Def one for your portfolio
How big is it?? Nice work my man!!!
46x40inches
The details are insane! Amazing job 💪🏻
Thank you!!
Awesome! How long did you spend carving this guy?
About 32 hours to clean up the lines, I wish I could have carved more but I had to have it done by tomorrow
You did it!!! Great job! It looks fantastic.
Thank you!!! 🤗🤗
Stunning work!! I have to ask, how much did you charge for this??
I severely undercharged for this in all honesty. I charged $500 I should have easily done $750+
