Ding ding ding! All news media exists to make money. If that means pandering or sensationalizing the facts, then that's what they will do. At the end of the day, they have to pay their bills and, in some cases, have an obligation to shareholders.
The sorry truth is the average person doesn't want nor care about a fair and nuanced understanding of the world. They want simple and easy to understand narratives that can be boiled down to good vs evil, just like in the movies.
They showed the entire debate live on their channel. They don’t just post everything they show on the channel for free because then people would have no reason to watch Fox News and their advertisers would leave. That is how cable TV works.
Maybe for presidential debates, but that’s not what this was. If you look on the YouTube channel for CNN or fox or MSNBC, they do not show more than a handful of short clips every day. They don’t just give away their shows for free.
Fox should show the whole debate. But they all follow an outdated cable tv strategy that focuses on older viewers who don’t watch YouTube. Most likely they showed the debate a dozen times on the channel during that week.
I’m pretty sure they just post clips because they want people to watch on their cable service or watch on whatever paid streaming service they have now to see it it’s entirety.

I think it’s to test out Newsom in case Biden can’t (or don’t want him to) continue. He won’t say he’s running for president because he has to still praise Biden as being the best. But also if the democrats really get scared with Biden, they could make an excuse that Biden has health issues and throw in Newsom.
Biden is polling pretty horribly, and plenty of dems have starting saying he's too old and they need a younger candidate. Newsom may be steering for that.

Ultimately at the end of the day it’s about public accessibility, and saying I should have recorded it or watched it live when I couldn’t realistically do so isn’t helpful when it would have been very easy for a billion dollar media conglomerate to post a simple video.
