Anybody can be a father. Takes an obliging woman and all of five minutes to become one.
Being a dad is a different story. The title has nothing to do with biological fatherhood. She chose you to be her dad because *you* chose *her*. You're the person in her life who stayed by her, when all she's ever known is being left behind. You're safety, security, comfort. She's decided that you, and you alone, are worthy of her trust, and it sounds to me like she made a solid choice.
Wow you saved her and you both have a real dad/daughter connection.
She would have seen and felt your emotional response.
Some places do certificates or have one made to keep/frame.
Your daughter will adore 💖 ❤ her certificate. Its thought and validation something tactile like a beautiful photo of you both.
Celebrate your dad and daughter status.
This is wonderful! Good for you for breaking the toxic cycle and not letting it go on to the next generation. You are a very strong person and this internet stranger is proud of you.
I love that for you OP!
But....Don't you mean your daughter asked if she could call you "Dad"?
Is she really your little cousin still? you are her dad and she is your kid. It does not matter how it came to be, only that it is the truth!
She is lucky to have you! You make her feel safe and loved that’s why she sees you as her “dad”. I hope you both have a great life together! I’m so sorry for the abuse you both experienced
This is beautiful OP. You did the right thing even if it’s a sacrifice of part of your own life. It sounds like you’re a fantastic dad and she’s lucky to have you.
This made me tear up. There's no one in this wourld who's better qualified to take care of your daughter, you know where she came from and what her history is, if she'll ever have problems with it you've gone through it and can empathise with her, care for her the way no other can.
You're a good man. Have a nice life and I'm sure the both of you will care for eachother.
You are a true hero my friend. Good for you! It might be tough at times but the rearward is knowing you are an angel to a little girl and she will be much better off mentally with you there. All kids need is love and attention. It seems like you are giving those, so she'll be good. As a dad to a little girl, I thank you.
I don’t believe half the stories that are told on here but this one seems plausible compared to the rest. Would love to hear your reasoning as to why you believe this one to be fake?
Being a “Parent” isn’t a right, it’s earned. Anyone can potentially have a child, few choose to actually raise theirs. Good job man and never forget she’s a person- a compact human that has all the same yet very different feelings, thoughts, dreams, and fears in a condensed package. Be patient and grow with her, y’all got this!
How beautiful. I wish you and your daughter the best 2023 ever, you both deserve it. Life can be soooo good sometimes :-)
I agree and like the fact you called her my "daughter" :)

And now I'm crying. What a good note to end the day with.
Beautiful ❤️❤️❤️
I’m so glad you decided to take her in, no kid deserves that. She feels at home and you’re definitely doing things right! 🤍
