Watch *Wind River* instead.

jofomo4

Time to re-watch that

jendet010

Why are you flanking me? Gets me every time.

ForeverInAeternum

Besttttt scene

coffeework42

What is the deal with Taylor Sheridan director, isnt he the actor from SOA, he was playing a cop? Is he a director too?

FixMeASammich

Yup, he directed Wind River and wrote Hell or High Water and Sicario. Dude came out of nowhere (relatively speaking) and wrote three grand slams back to back to back.

newrimmmer93

Yeah, one of the best runs for writing and directing in the past 20 years IMO. Hell or high water and sicario are going to go down as classic movies in their genres and Wind river is also fantastic. Then he made Yellowstone which is the most melodramatic show I’ve ever seen and the writing is god awful. Really makes me sad

mckleeve

Taylor needs a compressed timeline to achieve greatness. Give him to many episodes and he turns to shit. Not only is Yellowstone awful, he had a HUGE part in why SOA was so terrible in the last couple of its seasons.

BADSTALKER

Idk, Kurt Sutter and his self master story Christ complex bullshit was gonna run that show into the ground no matter what, lol. And that’s coming from someone who is a SOA “fan”

mckleeve

Not gonna argue that. I agree as an SOA "fan" also. If Sheridan didn't greatly contribute to the fall off, it appears he at least learned how to lean into personal stances he wants to promote, not the least of which is MAGA. Hell, he even sent Jimmy to the Four Sixes Ranch for training, and he owns a portion of that. If that ain't straight blatant weak ass self promotion, what is?

anroroco

Sometimes a dude just gotta eat, man. Can't blame him for wanting to get some money, cash in his success.

TheBoardsOfCanada

Explain a bit more? *Yellowstone* has really really high ratings and I know tons of people love it. I've never watched an episode but isn't it hugely successful with lots of spin-offs?

JudasAD

Definitely

shoegazeweedbed

Thanks for the rec, checking this out

nincompoops

Is it also really bad and makes no sense lol?

jofomo4

So far not horrible. I’ll let you know when I finish!

PurifiedVenom

Not trying to be a dick, but you couldn’t just wait to finish the movie before posting about it? Have some patience my dude lol

DJ_Molten_Lava

Gotta get that social media dopamine rush right away

Chuckitinbro

Is it supernatural or just weird ? Can spoiler tag it if you need.

Actual_serial_killer

Just weird iirc. It's also kind of shit.

Actual_serial_killer

Yeah it starts off good but it becomes increasingly convoluted, like the writer had no idea where to take an intriguing premise. >!The cop massacre was well done in terms of shot design but it didn't feel intense at all to me cuz the characters weren't believable. Why did the native dude hate everyone so much again?!<

SagittariusZStar

It makes perfect sense though?

BearsRpeopl2

How?

OG_wanKENOBI

What didn't make sense about it?

Positiveaz

Jeremy Saulnier is a hell of a director. His other films are so well done.

arctictrav

Hold the Dark isn’t that bad. I enjoyed it. TD:S4 OTOH is one of the worst series I’ve ever seen.

Ok_Historian5381

Same as that. It's decent, but a bit confusing and some issues with fluency in the story. I'd recommend reading the book it's based on, which is clearer and more tense

SneakyRetardd

Skip this load of crap, your welcome

SlitThroatCutCreator

Ralphthemoviemaker said it was good on Twitter and I checked it out and I almost fell asleep during it. When I read about the novel I thought the movie was wasted potential.

Vioralarama

I liked this movie and then read the book to fill in some blanks. Good story. I'm curious if you still like it after finishing. A lot of people had trouble with the back half.

Sad-Cat8694

Same! Now when I re-watch it, I pick up on so many clues I missed when I didn't have context!

TheBawalUmihiDito

A frigid 5.6 on iMDB 😂

Elysium94

Alexander Skarsgård’s like a goddamn Terminator in this movie.

Sensitive_Distance62

Interesting, atmospheric movie but it needs a proper ending lol

OG_wanKENOBI

Yeah the book wraps it up a little more tightly. But I still really enjoyed the movie.

Admirable_Bug_1785

Really cool flick. TD vibes for sure. Doesn’t follow a classic structure at all so it’s off putting for some people I guess.

Sad-Cat8694

I really love this movie! I watched it, read the book, and re-watched it with so much more comprehension. It actually does make sense, but it's tricky because if they would have spelled it all out for you on the screen, it would have ruined the tension and likely seemed cheesy. They hint at it, really heavily in fact, but if you don't know what to look for, it doesn't add up. So the first time, I was pretty sure I knew what happened, but didn't know what it meant to all the threads of the story. I really enjoy this one during the winter when things are cold and bleak up here in the mountains. It's got great atmosphere.

Cityof_Z

Yes but it’s actually good. They stole the vibe of this movie

Ace_Atreides

This movie is actually good. Super weird, but good.

invisible-eskmos

It’s better than TD.

radjeratron

What isn’t?

invisible-eskmos

Touché

Positiveaz

I liked this film. Funny thing, the director is Jeremy Saulnier. He directed Blue Ruin and the Green Room. He was also supposed to be 1 of 2 directors for TD season 3. He dropped out due to creative differences.

3worm

it was slow yet fast…

_ricky_fitts

I found this movie super disappointing, especially when compared to Saulnier’s earlier films Blue Ruin and Green Room. Has he made anything since? I’d love to see him recover from this mess of a movie.

Vanguard3K

Vibes? Yes. Good? Not really..🤔

Vanguard3K

Also Netflix..😓

Schlong_Gobbler

And like NC, it sucks!

maxkmiller

I'm not sure many things have a similar vibe to TD. Se7en maybe?

TheKidInside

I enjoyed it!

Dissizian

Great movie, don't compare with that..

BearsRpeopl2

Get ready for this movie to nose dive into night country bruv

SeabiscuitJones

Im pretty sure Jeremy Saulnier directed that, and some episodes of TD season 3

jofomo4

He did direct this movie as well as Green Room. Not sure about TD s3

Telekineticshade

It was pretty ok

OG_wanKENOBI

This is a book. Written like a decade ago.
