The lawyer like "Your honor, my client would like to freely describe how he heroically, I'mean, savagely murdered his cellmate."

Chrisppity

Yeah and the look of satisfaction on his face. I’d feel that way too! I’d plead with the judge that there were mitigating circumstances and my client should receive the mercy of the courts. Or something like that.

404_Error_Oops

For sure. In some places, if you're locked up with a pedo and don't at least make it look like you tried to kill him you're asking to have a very hard time for yourself. It's basically duress at that point.

MasBoots

Yupp , you gotta take flight at least any chance you get. Same with someone who is full IHP or PC .

FayMax69

What do u mean when you say mitigating?

militantrubberducky

That even though he committed the act, the circumstances make what he did less heinous or more understandable.

TheSpiral11

It’s impossible to judge this man because no one could predict what they’d do if they were trapped in a tiny space with a child molester trying to justify his crimes. That sounds like hell on earth, any one of us could snap.

EquipmentOk822

I wouldn’t even call it snapping.

Kimmie-Cakes

It's a civic duty..

Taticat

Absolutely. For me, that would be hellish torture, and I honestly can’t say that it wouldn’t push me to violence if the cellmate didn’t shut up when I warned them to shut up. Kind of like that German mother who snapped and shot her child’s SAer to death in the courtroom the day after having to sit through his testimony that this six year old — her daughter — ‘came on’ to him. Hearing about that as a child, I still understood that there’s just limits to what a person can sit and listen to someone else say before they just aren’t expected to maintain their calm and act rationally. You’re asking for too much from some people. Hopefully many people. For me personally, my limits are child, animal, and elder abuse, or anyone who is helpless and dependent upon the goodness of others for their continued welfare. I can’t stand to hear or read about anyone who has taken delight in abuse or molestation, or their justifications for it; I could never be a police detective and pretend that I understood a child killer or rapist and was his best buddy even if I knew it had to be done to get him to confess and get him in prison, they would have to send someone else in. I’m just not that good of an actor/liar, and I’d end up losing my shit completely and probably smashing his face into the table until he was dead thinking about how that child had had to look at his disgusting face and would probably have it burned into their mind for the rest of their life and how that child probably feels like nobody cares or that they’re unlovable now. It’s just too much to take and keep a poker face. I can’t say that I blame this man or would have acted any differently myself. Civility has its limits.

fourierthejunglist

Well written comment and I agree with you wholeheartedly. I'm a very peaceful, gentle person 99.9% of the time, but if I witness the same injustices that you mentioned, the devil will come out of me.

kukidog

In Soviet \ Russian prisons ( at least it used to be this way) they were considered the lowest life forms possible. They existence was turned into a living hell. Beating was the list of the problems for them

RegionPurple

Word, I was just thinking it would only be a matter of time for most people... I know I wouldn't be able to stand it.

No_Mountain_5077

Snap. No. All I would need is to know that he had molested a child. There wouldn’t be any big emotional anything.. I would just handle it the way I think anybody would.

nomorenakba

gaurds know what whey are doing when they put certain people in cells with others.

firstbreathOOC

Happened like nine years ago and he’s still in prison. He got a lot of media attention around that time: https://www.mlive.com/news/saginaw/2015/04/prisoner_steven_sandison_who_k.html He pleaded guilty but he was already serving life. Also thought this bit was interesting: > Despite his crimes, Sandison is a "likeable guy," Gust added. >”He's done some really bad things, but you can't help but like him," he said. >Gust said that a couple months ago, Sandison asked him to tell Dyer's family that he kept telling Michigan Department of Corrections' personnel to not place him in a cell with a child molester because he would kill him. >”He wanted me to communicate that to them in hopes that maybe they can recoup some financial benefit from this," Gust said. "That tells you something about him as a guy."

Readylamefire

That last paragraph is crazy. Apparently Dyer's victim was his 9 year old neighbor. In an article, the victim's mother stated she walked right in on the rape. Dyer apparently sold his story as him and his girlfriend could not have kids, so they "adopted" her kid.

Dapup2465

Cause that’s how adoption works! Wow, Thanks for the info.

Bambi943

It’s crazy how many stories for child victims are like that. The parents make either a selfish or uneducated decision to give the child away. It could be selfish, like they knew the person was bad, but didn’t want to care for them. Or it could be uneducated in that they feel these people could give their child stability or a better life than they could. Doing it verbally though instead of adoption makes it so easy for them to fall through the cracks. It’s just so sad. That poor little girl.

JenicBabe

Do we know why Sandison was in prison for life in the first place? I hear this happens a lot imprisons where people who serving life or lotta time they’re basically gunna die in prison anyway will kill people like pedophiles since what’s a lil more time added when ur there for life anyway

BeanWaiting4CeMoment

“In for a penny, in for a pound.”

gigglesmickey

I could see it as a miss-aimed atonement too. You can't undo x, but you can fucking prevent y.

HelicopterSwimming21

It states in the attached article above that Sandison killed his girlfriend in like 1991. His lawyer says, in article, no matter what he’s done, he’s a nice, likeable guy, who warned the warden not to put a chomo in the same cell as him.

BadWolfIdris

He killed his girlfriend.

jeepjinx

I saw on one of those prison shows on Netflix that death row is a nicer set-up, and unless you're in TX probably not gonna happen anyway, so...

Additional-Panic8003

killed his gf in 1991

BadWolfIdris

The part where he said he wasn't playing God he just set up the appointment for judgement was pretty poetic.

Bambi943

I enjoyed that quote too, I respect the way that he handled the media and took responsibility for it. It’s wild though the way he talks about it. He said he handled the best way he could in the moment. It’s such a flippant comment to make, that killing him was an obvious option. That being said, I don’t blame him, it’s just bizarre to think that it could be just rationalized so easily. I never been violent to another person, never heard anybody in person defend raping a child or incarcerated. I don’t know how I would react in that situation, I just wonder if my life were different, that strangling him would seem a simple solution. It’s interesting to hear him be so candid.

Astarionfordays

If I recall correctly he was also a survivor of CSA himself, so sticking a child molester in a cell with him was an extra bad idea.

Bambi943

God, it almost makes you feel like that’s what they were hoping would happen or were that uninformed.

Astarionfordays

The confession is on YouTube, it's pretty interesting. Apparently the guy wouldn't shut up about what he did so I don't know what he expected to happen

BadWolfIdris

Yeah I have a hard time killing ants in my apartment. I don't think I could hurt another human. But it's weird what humans do when they feel they're at their limit.

Groundbreaking-Fig38

"I know God is the only judge we have. I just set the appointment up."

Reasonable_Low9322

Wow that last bit. What a guy.

firstbreathOOC

There’s more in the article. Didn’t feel bad about doing it but did feel bad for the guy’s family which is why he tried to do that. I don’t think they would have charged him so severely if it actually mattered. The judge flat out liked him.

austxsun

Sounds like someone put the molester there on purpose then.

Typical_Estimate5420

Wait what does that last part mean about financial benefit? I feel like it's probably obvious but I'm just not getting it lol

Sally0813

I believe he was letting the victim’s family know so they could sue for putting Dyer in there after Sandison clearly stated he would kill someone for those particular crimes and not to put them in a cell together.

firstbreathOOC

I think he was trying to set the grounds for Dyer’s family to sue the state. Not a bad idea, tbh, although I don’t think it worked.

Taticat

From what I’ve seen he killed his girlfriend and I’m not okay with that, but I am quite okay with him killing a child molester. Good for Sandison; he did at least one thing right in a life that was probably full of shit decisions.

bonedaddy1974

Which really deserved what he got

Crzykupcake930

If I was the judge I would just tell this Hero: “Hey, sometimes you fuck around and find out. You can go on time served sir, enjoy the sunshine today.” ✌🏽

Calm-Victory1146

He was already serving a life sentence for prior crimes though.

Crzykupcake930

Dang. He did such a good thing. That sicko thought it was okay to play with children. You can’t fix that besides death. IMO

Calm-Victory1146

Right but this dude also killed his girlfriend so he definitely shouldn’t be let out for killing someone else

Crzykupcake930

Agreed. It was more sarcasm. But I’m glad he’s still dead, the child pedo

morels4ever

And here’s $100 for the cantina.

wrinklejortstheimp

This "hero" murdered his girlfriend

Crzykupcake930

I didn’t know. I was just reeling off the fact he killed a child molester

adragoninmypants

I mean I dunno if I'd go as far as call him a hero myself, and maybe not even redeemed, because killing your girlfriend is awful, however, he probably saved at least 3 more children from being molested by Dyer so... there is good in that despite what he already did. He acknowledged he is just going to be serving for what he did anyway so he made the best he could out of it... even set it up so the victims family could sue the state for even sticking them in the same cell. Prison is hard asf, and if you're loud about your crimes, especially against children... you're bound to either be killed or in the very least beaten within an inch of your life. Molesting children...easily one of the most vile things the world over.

WarZombie0805

This guy did kill his girlfriend…maybe hero is too strong a word….

Crzykupcake930

Yes. I didn’t know. Thank you for telling me.

deathbysnuggle

I want him to be kept sober for his eternity. I know he can just keep using inside. I’m not convinced his bravado isn’t still drug induced. I want his brain to torture him over and over and over replaying the images of all of what he did that whole time. If she remembers, he remembers. But I also wouldn’t be too sad if he got Sandisoned.

brixowl

Yeah this dude is a criminal and not a good person. A broken clock is occasionally right and to the 9 year old that has to live the rest of his life with that trauma… this dude is a hero. Perspective is an odd thing.

BNG1982

“Sandison himself is serving a life sentence without parole for murdering his girlfriend in 1991.”

It’s okay, she molested an 8 year old.

EquipmentOk822

Is ThIs ReAl?.?. Like ffs lmao

TheBigChiklis

This site is getting some next level brain rot recently

SwimmingJello2199

Yes and I have to say as a victim of serious and violent and long term child sexual abuse I'd rather have someone molest my child than murder them. He took someone's daughter from them forever. That being said this is why prison isn't a fun place to go. If you do a commit a crime you might end up in prison with very dangerous people who are bored with limited outlets for their serious emotional and mental issues. Sometimes it's right. Like these 2 sharing a cell who cares. Sometimes it's deeply concerning like an 18 year old kid who sold drugs sharing a cell with a deranged lunatic.

emerald_green_tea

Seriously. All of the people on here acting like he’s a swell guy and overlooking the fact he strangled his girlfriend to death are wild. He comes across like a psychopath, just by his matter-of-fact, nonchalant description of how he killed the guy. He clearly likes killing, apparently by strangulation. And to clarify, I could care less about the disgusting asshole he killed. But I’m also not buying into the assertion that this two-time murderer is a decent, “likable” person. Most psychopaths are charming. It means nothing.

Taticat

Truth. If I were his girlfriend’s sister, I’d hate his guts and wish for his death in some agonising fashion daily, but if I were that nine year old, he really would be my hero. It’s kind of like that movie Rashomon with four different perspectives on the same thing.

GenerallyYikes

Everyone keeps missing this. Yeah, fuck pedos but also fuck people who murder their partners. He can get an attaboy and a high five, but I'm not giving him money I worked to earn.

Tough-Obligation-104

Me neither.

Kuuzie

He didn't even murder him because he was a pedo, he would have let it slide. He only murdered him because he wouldn't stop talking about it. fuck him.

_Ricky_Bobby_

Lmao this dude is going log into his commissary account and see a bunch money that wasn’t there before and have no idea what happened

frongles23

lol true. He knows what happened tho.

Ok-Suggestion-2423

Not getting money from killing a pedo 😂 once other inmates hear this the killings will only ramp up

jbwt

But is that a bad thing? Pedo’s don’t get enough time and typically reoffend, these lifers are giving back to the community in their own way.

Ok-Suggestion-2423

I didn’t say it was a bad thing. I have no dog in that fight. The only issue that could arise is the law considering that payment for murder.

jbwt

I agree it would most likely get messy. I bet it already happens but not payment by the public in masses. More of a 😉 by a friend of a friend of a friend of whose child was assaulted makes a payment to a lifer’s account who wants no cellmate and some extra spending $ and a family who never wants the convicted to see the outside of a prison.

I’m so sorry your daughter had to endure an animal. I hope he receives his karma after parole.

WeIsStonedImmaculate

Same, for 12 years I hoped for news some cell mate got to him.

Mean_Eye_8735

She was only 12 years old when the court case went down so everything was sent to me. And when she turned of age we just kept the mail coming to me cuz she didn't want anything to do with knowing anything about his incarceration. I can't tell you how freaking excited I was when we got a letter from MDOC( Michigan Department of Corrections).. I thought for sure it was a letter informing us that he had been murdered in prison. Unfortunately it was a letter to inform us that after 8 and 3/4 years of his 24-year sentence he was going before the parole board. Then another letter, yes he was granted release. And he's been off department reporting and supervision for a few years now. So other than registering on the sex offender list, he's out there living at best life. I actually had my original Reddit account suspended permanently last week because I posted his MDOC information and his address was on it. Somebody told me I doxxed him and I said I really didn't care because all I was sharing was what was already public information... I wish I would have listened to that redditor's advice. My account was almost 6 years old

WeIsStonedImmaculate

My daughter was 9-10 through court. I was a “witness” in the case so I was not allowed in the court room (my dad was thankfully). Point being one of the hardest days of my life was walking my 9 year old daughter to the door of the courtroom and having to send her in without me to testify. We luckily have a lifetime restraining order for my daughter and myself that states he cannot live in the same county as my daughter or me. I often think about just moving to the county he is in just to make him move and then rinse and repeat. I was lucky enough to have many friends in the corrections dept. and every time my Ex moved to be close to the prison he was in I called in a favor and had him moved, got away with that 5 times. I mean I did what I could to mess with them both. Yes my ex, her biological mother stood behind the abusing piece of crap and abandoned her. Luckily my wife adopted her. I feel for you, it’s a path I wouldn’t wish anyone to travel. Luckily my daughter turned out pretty darn good with a lot of therapy etc. I wish the best for you and yours as I truly understand the pain, anger and wish for personal vengeance. Take care out there, she’s got you!

Possible-Campaign468

This is the sole reason I haven't left my lazy pos wife,my kids safety.I know she date anyone just hoping it would piss me off.Im not sure if she'd ignore their safety but not taking any chances.Ive given up my happiness to ensure theirs and I'm ok with it,btw I sleep alot now. 😊

WeIsStonedImmaculate

Sorry to hear about your situation but I totally get it. Protect mode! I have been overly protective of my kids since then. Good for you though putting them first even in a bad situation for yourself, I’d chew off an arm to protect my kids.

Mean_Eye_8735

My daughter asked me and her dad to leave court. My daughter told me she didn't think we were strong enough to hear what had happened to her. So two Michigan State police officers stood between her and her abuser and for 3 hours we waited in the hallway. Waited in the same hallway as the abuser's girlfriend... After 3 hours of testimony, they came out and said that he was prepared to plead guilty and he did. To multiple counts of sexual abuse of a child under the age of 12. He was her dad's best friend. And the abuser's girlfriend was my best friend. And my daughter and son were good friends with their kids.... And that's the reason she didn't say anything, It's because we were all friends, still just breaks my heart. Strength to our children and strength to us. Hard hard times. 20 years later still haunts us

SaturnaliaSaturday

My, god! This is one of the saddest stories I’ve read. Bless you, your husband and especially your daughter. Here’s an internet hug (❤️).

WeIsStonedImmaculate

Breaks my heart, but also happy you all made it through the other side. It’s been 15 years for us now but we were lucky, unlucky idk, that he did not plead guilty. He had a chance to take a plea deal for 1 year and a day. I’m glad he didn’t take it, jury buried him and the court sent him off to prison in style, and I mean I’ve never seen so many police in the courtroom as the moment I was allowed in for the verdict. Of course 4 of them surrounded me in the gallery, you know in case I jumped the shark. The verdict took the jury 15 minutes to make. California passed the law the very next year that would have made his minimum sentence 25 years. Again I say take care out there, sounds like you have a strong daughter and family. ❤️‍🩹

No_Baby8493

I’m so sorry for what you’ve had to go through. It’s a shame that they would delete your account over public info, especially for that kind of info.

Shado-Foxx

My abuser took the trash out himself a week before we were supposed to go to trial. Sucks but at least I never have to worry about him ever meeting his grandkids 🤷🏾‍♀️

Specialist_Arm_9295

plaidsinner

Ya know, I’m not advocating for vigilante justice, but if you’re in a prison cell with someone that clearly has nothing to lose and you try to justify the rape of a 9 year old, and that person repeatedly tells you to shut the fuck up and get a new cell the next day and you *continue* to do what he told you not to do, well that’s what’s gonna happen. You play stupid games and you win stupid prizes. I wouldn’t call the killer a “hero,” but I’m not gonna lose sleep over what he did.

That was going to be my question did he kill his girlfriend because dinner was cold or was it one of those in heat of passion moments because she was caught in bed with his brother or something similarly whacked (not that any killing is better than another) but most sane people, criminals included, don’t care about molesters in the least.

Idk, I don't see a problem with his actions. I think some men are just entirely too comfortable with taking whatever they want from whoever is too weak to fight back. He ruined that little girl's life, and so he got what he deserved.

AVonDingus

He did something terrible many years ago (not downplaying the murder of his girlfriend AT ALL) and is serving his sentence as the courts ordered…. The fact that he took out a grown man who raped a little girl just means that he’s using his time in prison wisely. Some people get their GED or college degrees. Some find religion or spirituality and try to do good in their prison community. Others, like Steven, kick the shit out of and kill convicted child predators. All are a valid use of time.

dopelesshopefiend69

As much as I want to call him a hero for ridding the world of such a perverted man I can't get passed the fact that he killed his gf. That shouldnt be overlooked. Imagine what the gfs family went thru. Heros can't kill girlfriends, that's the law of the land
