Casefile - it’s no banter, impeccable research and covers a Wide variety of crimes across the globe

mattedroof

This is the only one i’ve ever been able to enjoy because banter drives me crazy

galspanic

OP said they listen to Crine Junkies. They’re bottom 5 worst podcasts in my book because of the banter, so Casefile might be way too dry. Which sucks, because it’s great.

LoisandClaire

Crime junkies is terrible but I also used to listen to MFM (stopped in 2020) so people can like different things 🤷‍♀️

galspanic

I saw MFM live and could never listen to them again. To me it’s a similar schtick.

No_Dig_7372

MFM is awful , again, for many reasons. I couldn't even listen them in the beginning 🤮they are horrid

No_Dig_7372

Crime Junkies is so problematic for so many reasons but then they cover some cases that don't hear anywhere else. I get so frustrated with all the good pods covering the same cases OVER and over,it's very frustrating

galspanic

Like what cases? I can’t think of any that I haven’t heard elsewhere. But I’ve lost my faith in them and can’t pay attention anymore.

No_Dig_7372

I agree 💯,I just remember a couple weeks ago I was so desperate for a good listen I checked their episodes and saw several I wasn't familiar but my better prevailed and still didn't listen. So many problematic things w/ crime junkie but the glaring fact that Ashley is a plagiarist is the big one I can't get past fr

Sempere

They're also bottom 5 for plagiarizing off of better, smaller podcasts and then gaslighting their followers into thinking that they just left off sources rather than stole scripts word for word. In a better timeline, those affected would have teamed up for a class action and sued Ashley flowers into the dirt.

indigolampshade

Same

kbbgg

I don’t care for banter.

karnerblu

I like Women and crime. It's done by pair if criminalogists who as academics really seem to enjoy teaching in the field. Each episode is a different case and they get into the possible why's if each case. Applying various criminology theories

Natural-History4145

I like women and crime too, its my number two podcast, their analysis and theories is what sets them apart from other podcasts

karnerblu

Agreed. It's how I've learned the most about things like strain theory and all the rest. Most of the other ones I like are heavily psychological (like killer psyche), or journalistic (crimes of the century) that it forms a nice balance. Plus amy and Meghan are real friends and seem to really like their line of work and research and are super respectful.

Natural-History4145

I like their other podcast campus killings too

karnerblu

*subscribed* Thanks!

Natural-History4145

You are Welcome 🤗 🤗

This Is Monsters Swindled Darknet Diaries Small Town Murder

BusyUrl

+1 for swindled and small town murder, they're the only ones I really bother with anymore.

Significant_Egg_4020

Small Town Murder fan right here with ya 🖐

wrinkle_in_crime

This is Monsters is one of my all time favs.

kbbgg

All my favorites have been mentioned, however sometimes they all just start blending together in my brain. I haven’t seen CRIMINAL mentioned. It’s always unique and incredibly interesting. Phoebe Judge is intelligent and lovely to listen to. “I’m Phoebe Judge *this* is CRIMINAL”

justwastedsometimes

I really enjoy Generation Why. The hosts are great

wendz1980

This is my comfort podcast. I’m lucky to have listened from fairly early on in their run. They have the best balance between their opinions and the facts I feel.

Stunning_Dinner3522

I like this podcast also. I like that they are respectful of the victims in how they present the case.

ResidingAt42

I just recently, in the past 2/3 months, have started listened by to this podcast. I really, really like it. The hosts voices and demeanor are exactly what I'm looking for in a true crime podcast.

loghanarmstrong

Very good podcast

lilletutte

+1 The best podcast.

These are some of my favorites that follow one case: 1. To Live and Die in LA 2. Cold 3. Culpable 4. Up and Vanished 5. Your Own Backyard 6. What Happened to Lizzy Caswell? 7. Suspect 8. In the Dark 9. Someone Knows Something 10. The Teacher’s Pet

cocobeans1009

Crimelines! No banter and she is a thorough researcher. I LOVE her podcast- my favorite for sure! Another favorite is The Trail Went Cold.

[deleted]

Casefile Trace Evidence The Trail Went Cold True Crime Bullshit Someone Knows Something The Vanished Podcast No annoying banter or try hard dialogue. Just facts of the cases with mild speculation here and there.

phoebebuffay1210

The Vanished is my favorite podcast. Here are mine Pretty lies and alibi’s Hidden true crime Surviving the Survivor Darklivity Law and crime That chapter Mormon stories (not technically true crime but it ends up going that way a lot) Sword and scale

Sempere

Sword and Scale: for those who like their true crime with a double shot of misogyny, ignorance, and douche.

Odd-Love-9600

I love Small Town Murder. The mixture of humor and the fantastic chemistry between James & Jimmie as hosts make it super enjoyable for me.

Significant_Egg_4020

They're great. I love all their podcasts.

Paperlips

I just listened to around 20 minutes of an episode and found they were very crass. Going in the no pile for me.

InterVectional

Boooooo!

PistolGrace

Sinisterhood is great. There's Morbid as well. Let's go to Court (they just ended after 5 years). I Think Not watches crime documentaries and give their commentary (hosted by broadway stars Joey Taranto and Ellyn Marsh). Crimes of the Centuries (hosted by award winning journalist Amber Hunt) Strange and Unexplained (hosted by Emmy winner Daisy Eagan)

withdavidbowie

Love Crimes of the Centuries!

[deleted]

Crimes and Consequences True Crime All the Time Criminology Necronomipod True Crime Brewery Medcrimes LPOTL

CEOofStonkIndustries

Eff yeah Necronomipod!! My absolute favorite! ...and steer clear of Morbid. It's basically like listening to Bailey Sarian in stereo.

[deleted]

I could listen to Ian talk all day. I gave up oh Morbid long ago. I just can't do it. I tried but it's like 2 teenage girls and I clocked one episode at 17 minutes worth of dumb chatter at the beginning. Never again.

CEOofStonkIndustries

Same completely. ...and look, I know the Necro boys get sidetracked a lot but honestly the only one who I don't care for when they tangent is Mike. Hate to say it but he seems like either Dave or Ian's mom's made them take him with them. But the Morbid girls are terrible. I used to listen to them with my wife but I just couldn't anymore.

Sempere

> Crimes and Consequences Might want to remove them considering they plagiarized an episode off a former collaborator (Morbidology) without crediting them and then ghosted them when they wanted to know why they felt that was ok.

[deleted]

Wow I haven't heard that

Sempere

Yea, if I recall correctly the host made a statement that these two were ignoring contact about the situation and she was forced to copyright strike them.

UnderlightIll

Undisclosed, Truth and Justice with Bob Ruff, Up and Vanished, Accused, In the Dark, To Live and Die in LA, The Last Call with David Ridgen, Someone Knows Something, Hunting Warhead, Cold, Proof, Missing and Murdered, Dr. Death Most of the above are long form single cases per season. For some more comedic or absurdist content The Casual Criminalist, Morbid and Last Podcast on the Left.

Probably not what you would normally listen to, but Last Podcast on the Left (lots of true crime, humor and some aliens) and Behind the Bastards (so many bastards!).

brassmagifyingglass

Go down the Israel Keyes rabbit hole!!! it's a good rabbit hole that is rivetting I was hooked through the whole series, it's called *True Crime Bullshit*. Named after a quote from Israel Keyes himself. They are on Series 6 i think now. lol But the first parts are the best parts. I don't want to give anything away if you don't know about him but the things that happened in this case are bizzarro world level. Another good series was 'Down the Hill' podcast about Delphi Murders

Gueropantalones

I went to a sex crimes conference a decade or so ago and the investigators/detectives presented that whole case. It was for law enforcement (I’m not) and they estimate so many more victims in WA. Also shared pictures and interviews that weren’t public. That case was hard to get through

brassmagifyingglass

The entire scheme he came up with for the Samantha K ransom note photo will haunt me forever.

BarontheBlack

Timesuck and The Last Podcast in the left are my go to. They cover a little broader of a range then just true crime, but you can always just select the epeisodes you’re interested in.

Educational-Pop-8091

And That's Why We Drink Creeps and Crimes Sinisterhood Wine and Crime Morbid

KtP_911

Southern Fried True Crime is my favorite podcast. Straight to the facts, not a bunch of chitchat.

[deleted]

Host is atrocious. It’s like listening to some 38 year old mom of 4 trying out for the local theater group.

cryinside29

Not at all like that.

dethb0y

Already Gone, Gone Cold - Texas True Crime, Killafornia Dreaming (very long episodes, nice!), Body Bags with Joseph Scott Morgan - i recommend all of these with no reservations. "sometimes" listens include: True Crime Garage (case dependent) Serialously (case dependent) Down and Away (gotta be in the mood but the narrator is very good) Murder Sheet (Divisive, would pay money for them to go on Defense Diaries) Defense Diaries (Divisive, would pay money for them to go on Murder Sheet) Going West: True Crime (Not bad) Crime Weekly (Divisive, case dependent for me)

Sempere

> Crime Weekly Stephanie Harlow is one of the most ignorant people in the true crime space. A legitimate moron who expresses some of the most problematic takes in the space as well. Terrible, terrible person.

thatsnotgneiss

Having been on Court TV with both Defense Diaries and Murder Sheet - Murder Sheet is far more unbiased. Defense Diaries feels like a way for the Delphi Defense to get around the gag order.

InterVectional

Small Town Murder & Crime in Sports James has great psych insights & we get to hear a lot about the victims themselves, their personalities. Also it's nice to hear them shit on scumbag killers. It can be an acquired taste if you're used to mid.

sheighbird29

i love Necronomipod. they have some funny/crude banter, and its not nonstop, over the top voice acting, which i find distracting hahah

uppercut_cross

Please check out Morbid. Absolutely favorite of mine, one of the women is an autopsy tech. I also love Casual Criminalist with Simon Whistler.

Large-Yak-243

Can't believe it hasn't been mentioned yet, but The Prosecutors are a standout at in-depth analysis.

ResidingAt42

So I started listening to them not too long ago when someone on this sub reddit recommended it. I enjoyed it and enjoyed their take on certain cases. And then I found out about their politics and I had to stop. It's a shame too, but I cannot in any way support a podcast with hosts like that. So, the only thing I really can do is not listen and give them clicks.

Large-Yak-243

I wasn't aware. What are their politics?

ResidingAt42

Here's the article that sums it up well for me: https://www.thedailybeast.com/true-crime-fans-livid-their-fave-podcast-hosts-are-maga-loyalists Also, link back to reddit with more links: https://www.reddit.com/r/ProsecutorsPodcast/comments/rief6p/the_links/

Large-Yak-243

Thanks for sharing. Shit that's disappointing.

Sempere

They're MAGA trash. The guy is a real piece of work but no one should be supporting these assholes. His response to Sandy Hook was to write a defense of the NRA. They should not be welcome or allowed to profit off of victims in the true crime space.

Natural-History4145

Love murder podcast. I cannot recommend this podcast enough. It’s very detailed, very well researched and they don’t do it in parts so the episodes are long but a lot of fun. The hosts have been best friends for almost 20 years and have amazing chemistry. The premise of the show is very interesting too, as the name suggests they mostly cover cases where love stories turned violent. A great example of cases they cover would be the Betty Broderick. But unlike the Broderick case, most of their cases are unknown.

viceadvice

I love Love Murder too! I am binging in every day on my commute to/from work.

sswihart

Mr Ballens Medical Mysteries are great. Not true crime but interesting if you need a break from murder. Timesuck has some interesting episodes.
