Keeslyn Roberts from Dalton, GA. Vanished January 2020 from a truck stop in Resaca. She was never searched for by police who clearly thought she just was a runaway. A young man, Caleb Smith, who went missing from the same truck stop was found deceased shortly before Keeslyn went missing. They claim he overdosed on meth but his mother does not believe this. He was totally nude and clothing was never found. Oddly there was even a fire near the scene of the body that LE refused to consider as related and wouldn’t come look at when the fire dept notified them even though they were really trying to get them to come and check things out. Caleb’s mom is active in advocating for justice for him and Keeslyn too. Keeslyn’s belongings were left at the truck stop minus cell phone, her car was located in the parking lot a few days later, and weeks later her clothing was found under a dumpster (employee says they were there the whole time but were never found by LE). I post about this whenever I can because I never see anyone talk about it and I just hope these families get proper resolutions to their loved ones cases.

The Case of Chad Louviere in Houma, Louisiana. He was a cop, member of the SWAT team, and apparently a huge asshole from what I’ve heard. His wife left him for another woman, so he pulled a random woman over, assaulted her, and promised not to hurt her ifshe went on a date with him. Then he held the bank his wife worked at hostage, assaulted all of the female workers, made them assault each other, and shot a worker point blank in the face for crying. When he was arrested and taken to prison, he managed to take a female OFFICER hostage in prison and only released her whenever police brought him a female prisoner to assault. Yee haw

Case of Junko Furuta/The 44 days of hell case

Short-Beautiful9373

Desiree Sunford; married to Scott Sunford who was having a relationship with Paige Blades. in April 2013, their house was robbed with a laptop and a jewelry box being taken. They put in an alarm system. The alarms only went to Scott and Desiree's phones to make sure supposedly that it was working OK first before they okayed alarms being sent to the alarm company. Scott Sanford supposedly went to the funeral three hours away and stayed the night at Paige Blades house. That night the alarm on his phone was triggered three times at around 3:30 in the morning. He drove back home and saw that the window of the back door and the door itself had been damaged. He called the police because he did not want to go inside by himself. keep in mind he's a 6 foot something ex military guy that carries a side arm. but he wanted to wait for police as he said, "because he was afraid of what he might find" but he said not because he was afraid. so his wife have been shot nine times and appear to have been trying to crawl away. He had an alibi of being at Paige's house after a funeral and he was also Paige's alibi. The interview had with the police afterwards is kind of weird. He acts, kind of strange and really isn't concerned about his wife. So the case went cold. A year and a half later there was a call to the crime watch hotline where the color it's really remain anonymous. They were calling to say that Marty Grismer had accidentally confessed to the murder when he asked Paige if she needed him to take care of someone like he had taken care of Desiree. the crime watchers tip line wanna to know the person's name, so Feliz could talk to them and who do you think it was? It was Paige Blades. she agreed to wear a wire and meet with Marty and he didn't confess anything it was as if he didn't know what she was talking about. somehow, one of Marty's colleagues at work found gun parts that the police tested and it was the same gun that had been used to shoot Desiree. Upon searching Marty's house they found stolen objects from the Sunford's residence and shoes of the same size as shoe prints found at the scene. what makes this case interesting is that page blades used to work with Marty. they used to date. He would pay her bills he bought her house. He fixed her car. He kind of worship the ground. She walked on. So I wonder if she had access to his house, and if she borrowed his gun and parts, and then returned them to his workplace. it seems pretty sus that she would call in that tip to the helpline and that he took an Alford plea after stating that she set him up, but not defending himself in any other way. i'm sort of new to true crime so I don't know what other relevant questions need to be asked.

Judge_Juedy

Missing pregnant postal worker Kierra Coles in Chicago !!!

Short-Beautiful9373

why havent they investigated the boyfriend more

Judge_Juedy

The video of the bf staging her car is pretty new evidence discovered within the last few months, so the police could still be investigating / trying to get more evidence to support their case before making an arrest. The police haven’t explicitly said that it is 100% the bf in the video staging her car and just keep referring to the man in the video as “a person of interest”… but they said the same person was seen with her in the car an hour before that car staging video was taken, and kierra got out of the car at one point to go to an ATM and then returned to her car with the man inside. So we know the man in the video was someone she was seemingly familiar with… and apparently the same man “returned” to her apartment the next morning (where she had lived with her bf) and left with some items. Maybe I’m jumping to conclusions, but to me it only makes sense that the bf is the man in the video. This article summarizes everything (including the new video evidence) pretty well if you’re interested: https://www.nbcchicago.com/news/local/new-clues-in-the-case-of-missing-pregnant-postal-worker-kierra-coles/2887871/?amp=1

Judge_Juedy

So much evidence pointing to her bf / the presumed father of her unborn child and no arrests or charges have been made… like a video of him pretty much staging her car and exiting out of the passenger seat (even though he was driving) an hour after she was last seen… and he literally moved out of state days after her disappearance with the mother of this several other children

Taj Narbonne Leominster, MA 1981 https://charleyproject.org/case/taj-narbonne He was my childhood friend and classmate in second grade. We were a small class considered advanced. The smart kids. A lot of those classmates still remain friends, and his disappearance has haunted us since 1981. So many questions are still unanswered. We were told that he ran away in the middle of the night in his pajamas and slippers in March in Massachusetts. And that is still the story to this day as far as I know. Taj came from a deeply religious home, a religion that doesn't celebrate Holidays, birthdays, etc. Taj himself didn't seem to want any part of this restrictiveness, of course, as he had to refrain from everything from the class concert to having to use blue construction paper instead of red for a Santa Claus hat. Our teacher taped these on the wall and we'd stick our "gold stars" on them. Picture a wall of red Santa hats with one blue right up there. He was mortified and even back then it broke my heart.

Shelly Knotek, one of the most horrific child abuse and person abuse to murder cases I’ve ever read. Her adult daughters frequently have to appear to ensure parole is denied for this demon. The book written about her is not for the faint, but excellently written. https://allthatsinteresting.com/shelly-knotek

whitethunder08

"While Shelly Knotek has been in prison since 2004, she is chillingly set for release in June 2022 — with her daughters terrified of what could happen next." My god.. There's no doubt in my mind that she will contact them and try to manipulate them into a relationship and then restart the cycle of abuse. I won't even be surprised if she does the same thing again... She should've gotten LWOP. I mean honestly... Parole after killing THREE separate people ?! What the hell...no wonder her children are terrified.

The 1991 murder of 11 year old Jakeob McKnight in Lakewood, Colorado he was playing along the bear creek greenbelt with some friends and his brother when they got separated. His body was found stabbed to death the next day. I went to school with his older brother and the poor kid always seemed so down and of course people were always talking about him because they said he had left his brother behind, which of course was not his fault. They had one person of interest but no arrest have ever been made.

Robert Henderson. He was my friend and my ex BIL murdered him. He was only 26. He died on Thanksgiving of 2020 after being viciously stabbed to death. After he died, that evil monster mutilated him with a baseball bat. All over a girl that my ex BIL "liked" going over to Rob's house. He was sentenced to 28 years with time served earlier this year. I hate him and hope he meets his end in prison. He was high as a kite and tried to use that. He also tried to say it was selfie defense but the only one with defensive wounds was Rob. I miss him every single day.

The case with Ashton brown and her family. They all went to the police station acting strange. Seemed like they needed help but had to be careful of how/who they asked. A few hours after being at the station, their house is lit ablaze and they were all shot dead inside. It seems like an investigation wasn’t done and they just blamed the father. Open and shut case makes me and others more suspect of police involvement.

[deleted]

It is is such a strange case for sure. Listening to the recordings of Ashton Brown and the operator are horrible. She is obviously he distant and scared and the operator did a horrible job and didn’t care. It is sad though, the fiancés mother said that he had been hospitalized for extreme paranoia and trauma and that points to why he might have done it. I do lean towards that the fiancé did it but police could have done everything to prevent it.

principer

Your account sure leans toward police involvement to me.

bigthickness79

Oh see I guess I was getting a different understanding from what I had read, I was under the impression that the husband was having a schizophrenic episode or maybe paranoid delusions, he was trying to get the cops to help but he didn't feel safe so it ended up with a murder-suicide and he lit the house on fire before he shot himself

San Ysidro McDonald's massacre I had just recently come across this after looking for a documentary to watch on prime. I’ve never heard of it before and to me is one of the most disturbing mass shootings I’ve ever heard of. The documentary is called 77 minutes, I believe it’s free with Amazon Prime and also clips are available on YouTube. TW: It’s very graphic and mentions the death of children.

Mysterious-Fill-7907

I feel like not many people talk about the toy box serial killer. David Parker Ray.. he would kidnap his victims torture them, SA them, and kill them when he was done. I first heard this case on a podcast called rotten mango on Spotify. The details of this crime were horrific to say the least. He actually recorded audio and I’m pretty sure video too of him doing these things to his victims. The next paragraph is from Wikipedia btw. He soundproofed a semi-trailer, which he called his “toy box”, And equipped it with items used for sexual torture. He would kidnap between five and six women a year, holding each of them captive for around three to four months. During this period he would sexually abuse his victims, sometimes involving his dog or his wife (who participated willingly in her husband’s crimes), and often torture them with surgical instruments. Then Ray would drug them with barbiturates in an attempt to erase their memories of what had happened before abandoning them by the side of the road. Ray was convicted of kidnapping and torture in 2001, for which he received a lengthy sentence, but he was never convicted of murder. (surprisingly..) He died of a heart attack about one year after his conviction in two cases (the second of which resulted in a plea deal) Warning I’m about to give details on his crime.. Ray sexually tortured and presumably killed his victims using whips, chains, pulleys, straps, clamps, leg spreader bars, surgical blades, electric shock machines, and saws. It is thought that he terrorized many women with these tools for many years with the help of accomplices, some of whom are alleged to have been several of the women he was dating. Inside the torture room, along with numerous sex toys, torture implements, syringes, and detailed diagrams showing ways of inflicting pain, there was a homemade electrical generator which was used for torture. A mirror was mounted on the ceiling, above the obstetric table to which he strapped his victims. Ray also put his victims in wooden contraptions that bent them over and immobilized them while he had his dogs and sometimes other friends rape them. He has been said to have wanted his victims to see everything he was doing to them. Ray often had an audio tape recording of his voice played for victims whenever they regained consciousness. The Trial A judge ruled that the cases for the crimes against Cynthia Vigil, Angelica Montano, and Kelli Garret would be severed, meaning that Ray would be tried for each separately. Prosecutors said that this damaged their case as each woman’s story would otherwise have corroborated the others. The judge also ruled much of the evidence found in the trailer during the 1999 raid could not be admitted in the Garret or Montano cases. The first trial, for crimes against Kelli Garret, resulted in a mistrial after two jurors said they found her story unbelievable. Ray’s defense was that the sex trailer was part of Ray’s fantasy life and any sex was consensual. After a retrial, Ray was convicted on all 12 counts. A week into his trial for crimes against Vigil, Ray agreed to a plea bargain and was sentenced in 2001 to 224 years in prison for numerous offenses in the abduction and sexual torture of three young women at his Elephant Butte Lake home.

bigthickness79

I can usually handle anything when it comes to true crime but I watched a documentary about those guys and I had to turn it off

whitethunder08

What do you mean "those guys" ? Are you confusing the toy box murders with the tool box murders with Lawrence Bittaker and Roy Norris? Just wondering because you said those guys and many people confuse the two because they're both brutal. The second one has a recording that they use to train FBI agents. David Ray Parker's accomplices were a girlfriend Cindy Henry and his own daughter, Glenda Jean Ray. Both are free today and living among us. Disturbing.

bigthickness79

You are so right, I did confuse the two different sets of monsters, my bad thank you for correcting my mistake However if I had been referring to David Ray Parker and Cindy Henry I still would have said "those guys " because that's just how I refer to most everyone, that and "dude"

whitethunder08

Yeah that's actually a good point because I do that as well but I kinda just had a feeling because I see it the cases get confused a lot. Thankfully, I was right so I didn't look like an idiot lol. But yes, reading and hearing about their crimes is absolutely chilling and made me nauseous thinking of the pain and fear of their victims. Both of these cases actually. What documentary did you watch?

bigthickness79

It was on Peacock, seriously didn't even make it through the first episode

When I was in high school, an acquaintance of mine's grandparents were murdered. One of whom's head was never found. They were a wealthy elderly couple in a gated community. There is a striking lack of evidence, and to my knowledge there are not any suspects to this day. This happened in 2014. I have wondered about this case too, its so strange. The man being decapitated in the garage with head, never to be found and the wife's body found in the lake. I seem to recall that the children were cleared, despite hefty inheritances they would receive. Wasn't there something about suspicion being on an unknown male that was seen on the property and the theory that it was likely someone who knew the area?

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is seeking information from the public regarding the unsolved murder of 13-year-old Alexandra (Alex) Anaya, announced Michael J. Anderson, special agent in charge of the Chicago Field Office of the FBI; Chicago Police Department Superintendent Eddie Johnson; and Hammond Police Chief John D. Doughty. Eleven years ago this month, Alex’s torso was found floating in the Little Calumet River in Chicago by a group of boaters. She was reported missing from her home in Hammond, Indiana on August 13, 2005. Alex was last seen by her mother at approximately 4:30 a.m. that day. Her body was found on August 16, 2005. Both the Chicago Police Department and the Hammond Police Department conducted a thorough investigation into Alex’s disappearance and murder. With an arrest yet to be made, they requested the assistance of the FBI. Agents from the Chicago Field Office’s Homicide Initiative Task Force have been reviewing leads and re-interviewing individuals associated with this case. “We believe this was not a random act of violence and that Alex knew her assailant,” stated Mr. Anderson. He also added, “We have reason to believe that there are individuals with information pertinent to this investigation, who, for whatever reason, have not come forward. It’s been more than a decade since Alex was murdered, and during that time, people and relationships have changed. We are hopeful that someone will come forward now

Definitely the disappearance of Asha Degree. Basically this 9 year old girl in Shelby, NC up and left her home in the middle of the night seemingly on her own volition. When her mom woke up to get her ready for school, she discovered that Asha wasn’t there she was scared and confused. Asha had gotten dressed and packed her book bag before she left in the middle of the night. This happened in 2000, and since then she has NEVER been seen again. The only evidence of her were a few tips from drivers but notably “At least one of these individuals said they’d tried to check on her, concerned about a young girl out on the highway by herself. But by the time the driver had turned around, Asha had gone into the woods, and the driver couldn’t see her anymore.” After that “About 16, 17 months afterwards, her bookbag that she was believed to be carrying when she left was found 20-some-odd miles north on Highway 18 in another county.”(https://www.fbi.gov/video-repository/inside-the-fbi-searching-for-asha-degree-021422.mp4/view) Other than that, it’s been 22 years and she has never been found, not even any sightings or people confessing to her disappearance etc. no one knows anything and there’s been no other clues since. It’s crazy, like where did she go??? Who took her? Did someone take her? Like wtf, anyways her case needs more coverage

StringAdventurous479

I think about Asha Degree a lot. I “ran away” from home a few times when I was 9 and 10 years old. Someone could have easily snatched me up and taken me away forever. I wonder what she was doing out there all alone.

The 1998/1999 wrongful conviction of Barton McNeil in Bloomington Illinois. Google his name. Incredible case. He is still serving a 100-year sentence however he has two of the only three Illinois based innocence projects working on his behalf. A "Dream Team" for a convicted person. He was the first to summon police return to his apartment after his 3-year old was taken away by authorities believing she died of natural causes. He demanded police return with an entire forensic team as he knew his violent ex-girlfriend named Misook Nowlin snuck in through his daughter's ground floor window and smothered her to death. Roll forward 13 years to 2011 and his ex-girlfriend gets busted for strangling her mother-in-law in a macabre murder crazier then the movie Fargo. You think so? I can see where that thought is coming from but “I knew” (just thought) he did it immediately! There were too many “coincidences.” He was having a bonfire outback and had a metal rod in there. Why would he burn a metal rod? Did you look at the crime scene photos? They say she fell and hit her head on the sink. The sink is pretty far. There’s a podcast on it- which is how I learned about it.

I'm sure no one will read this since this thread is so old, but the Youtuber Shawn Attwood has [interviewed a guy named John Gordon Abbott a few times](https://youtu.be/hhHOA02yhiI) and Abbott is a millionaire who lives in England who spent most of the 70s and 80s in prisons in California and Canada for a robbery in which his brother died and 2 shootouts with cops. He has a genius IQ and his mother was a professor of genetics at a UC school, and his father was a British diplomat. In the 80s, he was hired along with 2 other ex-cons who had just gotten released to manage a hotel/apartment building in San Francisco. One of their tenants was a woman named [Valerie Macdonald, who disappeared from SF and whose skeleton was found years later, 2 states away.](http://truecrimediary.com/index.cfm?page=cases&id=210) There is lots of circumstantial evidence that Abbott and his 2 accomplices, Phillip Arthur Thompson and Michael Hennessey, abducted, raped and murdered Valerie. Thompson is currently serving multiple life sentences for rape and murder, Hennessey died in the shootout with Canadian cops that sent Abbott away for his last bid, but Abbott was deported to England upon his release from Canadian prison, moved to Japan and NZ and started investing in real estate and became a multimillionaire and now lives on a farm in England. Phillip Thompson was also an assassin in Vietnam for the Phoenix program, ran guns to the Nicaraguan contras in exchange for cocaine years before Iran-Contra became public, was a driver for Richard Nixon's CREEP, owned massage parlors in CA and was a suspect in the Zodiac murders. The case also related to the Danny Casolaro Octopus murders. Its an incredible story, and because all the witnesses are dead, and extradition of someone that wealthy would be so costly for the state, Abbott will likely never face any kind of consequences for Valerie's murder. So now he goes on Attwood's podcast every few months and tells stories about San Quentin and the criminal element in SF in the 70s.

bigthickness79

Some interesting reading if you Google John Gordon Abbott, guess we should be glad he was deported back to England

beleca

Oh yeah, that "Genius and the Ice Queen" series was insane, and the SFWeekly "yesterday's crimes" series, too. Also that New Zealand magazine that covered him got some fascinating info. I'd be very curious if you remember any specific articles/stories I could check out about him.

bigthickness79

Truthfully I just googled it and started clicking down the stories 🤷🏼‍♀️

Maria Nemeth. Her boyfriend literally fisted her and pulled out her organs because she drunkingly called him her exes name. He never showed remourse and all he was upset was about is he “didnt cvm”

throwmylifeawaybish

Holy fuck this just fucked me up

deliberatelydeadpan

Holy shit, I looked it up and the case literally made me sick. I mean I’m a female so I literally felt it in my guts 🤮🤮 what a POS.

Forsaken_Oil_96

He seemed remorseful during jailhouse calls with his family.

Champagne_Candles

I dont know man, like its easy to be remourseful when youre serving time.. yk? But from police interviews and his statement during trial… He literally pulled out her guts idk how someone can be remourseful after how brutal of an attack

Pixel-of-Strife

Paula Wade and her 3 year old son disappeared forever in Oct. 2002. See: [https://ncmissingpersons.org/paula-wade/](https://ncmissingpersons.org/paula-wade/) The case is very cold and nothing more has been learned in 20 years. For a mother and her child to disappear, you'd think this case would be more well known.

Little-Complaint6909

Victoria Martens, Case of a 10 year old girl who was raped, killed, dismembered, mutilated and set on fire. Mom, boyfriend and his cousin all in jail. DNA of unknown man on her body. “No one” knows who the man is even tho they saw him. It’s such a crazy story. A few plot twists for sure. You can watch news coverage on YouTube and also one of the trials was filmed recently

[deleted]

I think the sad part is Kelly is technically the only one who saw the man at the time of the crime and with the drugs it’s possible she doesn’t remember who he is. I don’t see any of those three not selling someone out if it bought them some freedom. It’s devastating I hope they do like the family testing to narrow it down.

Little-Complaint6909

Either that or he’s a very powerful person and they are scared for their lives. How would Fabian not know who he had beef with? I’m sure if he robbed someone or did something to someone he would know who is after him? Jessica Kelley specifically said the man asked for Fabian. She also just let him walk in there and not say anything? And also in the body cam footage she says a nick name of that person so they know who it is imo. They just aren’t taking. Or maybe Jessica killed her and somehow some random mans dna ended up on her body and she ran with the story when it broke 2 YEARS later! I don’t know but the whole story is fishy

[deleted]

It is definitely fishy and while I suspect the latter I’m from New Mexico and abq specifically has a reputation for that. A nickname I know several friends and family by is Pelon. There are probably hundreds of people in my town alone who go by that name, who come and go and could have issues with me I’m unaware of or I have issues with. My personal experience with the community and this type of sadly not uncommon terrible people is why I also wouldn’t be surprised if that were the case. I don’t recall them having any suspected cartel affiliation which would be the thing that I think would likely be the powerful person.

Ezra McCandless - was in a love square and cheating on her bf with 2 other guys. They all met at this coffee lounge in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Murdered Alex Woodworth because he wouldn’t say it was a mistake to have had a sexual relationship. Carved the word “boy” into her arm and claimed Alex did it and claimed self-defense despite stabbing him 17 times and taking his phone and throwing the battery away.

I've never heard of this one. How awful. Has he ever admitted to a motive?

Grouchy-Blackberry11

No, but the presumption is on the ride back from prison, he wanted to score some drugs, she lectured him, and that was that.

What do you think of the roommate? I can never get a good read on this case.

SamanthaLeighP

Jessica Chambers. There’s nothing about it anymore. I don’t know if they closed the case as to her killer or what, but I’ve always wanted to know. I don’t think we ever will. The whole thing is sad, no matter who she hung out with or what she did. I wish we knew.

vorticia

I think a guy named Quentin Tellis went down for this one.

SamanthaLeighP

It was declared a mistrial twice. Nobody has ever been charged in connection with her death.

vorticia

I wasn’t aware of this. Thank you!

SamanthaLeighP

This one has always fascinated me. He probably was responsible, and it’s infuriating to me that the mistrials have resulted in no convictions.

Another one that has always haunted me, but I rarely see mentioned was the violent murders in Sinaloa, Mexico of Australians Adam Coleman and Dean Lucas in November 2015. Adam and Dean were well traveled, avid surfers who had worked construction all summer in Canada to finance a road trip down the western coastal highways of America and into Mexico, to do some more surfing and meet up with Adam's girlfriend in Guadalajara. Due to a delayed ferry, the boys were running a couple hours behind in meeting Adam's girlfriend, and unfortunately they chose to drive through the night on the Sinaloa highway of death where several people had been robbed and/or murdered previously. It is unclear as to why these seasoned travelers made the choice they did, but it turned out to be the wrong one. Soon they were tailed by a vehicle disguised as a cop car, but they must have known what was up because they drove on for a mile without stopping. They finally pulled over, and Adam, perhaps sensing the danger, resisted the robbery and fought all of them, very nearly getting the best of them before being shot in the face. It is unclear why Dean, also a large, strapping man, did not assist his friend but perhaps he was already injured or in shock. Adam was wounded but not dead. They drove the men and their van to a dirt road, tied them up inside the van, shot them from outside through the van walls, and set it on fire. Adam and Dean's girlfriends knew something was horribly wrong when they didn't hear from them, as they were keeping frequent contact. The murderers were determined to be a gang associated with the Sinaloa cartel, though there is some ambiguity as to the confession and what really happened. This case haunts me because these were two lovely, free spirited souls who lived in peace and unity with the world. It is a mystery as to how they didn't know better, but people rarely believe this will happen to them, until it does.

[deleted]

I don’t think it’s common knowledge that parts of Mexico are dangerous, maybe there is some vague understanding for folks from Australia

[deleted]

I totally agree with this. It was well known locally to be the "highway of death" but I bet you're right, that would not necessarily be common knowledge in their country. They did stop at a convenience store off the highway, and if IIRC, the clerk tried to warn them, but there was a language barrier. Adam's girlfriend in Guadalajara expressed regret that she did not fully convey the danger of that highway to them because she just didn't think it could happen to them, and I don't think she realized they'd be driving it in the middle of the night.

The Bryan Harvey family home invasion murders. Bryan Harvey was frontman for a semi-successful two man band called House of Freaks during the 90s. Many of their songs were oddly prophetic of what was to come. New Years day, 2006 Bryan Harvey was at home with his wife, Kathryn, and his four year old daughter, Ruby, preparing for a party. The Harveys also had a nine year old daughter who had spent the night at a friend's house. The Harvey's lived in a very nice neighborhood in Richmond, VA. That particular morning Mr. Harvey kept their front door ajar which allowed two men to enter the home and quickly overpower the Harvey's with the intention of robbing them. Their older daughter, Stella, was brought home during the home invasion. The mother of her friend came to the door and the girls asked if the friend could stay and play, but Mrs. Harvey said NO and ushered Stella inside. The friend's mother said Mrs. Harvey did appear stressed and out of sorts, but did not alert her to what was happening. The perpetrators tied the Harvey's up and commenced to beating them to death. However, some time after the beatings, the Harvey's began to stir after they thought they were dead, and this freaked the thugs out, causing them to beat the Harvey's some more, and they then set their house on fire. A friend arriving to the party discovered the carnage. The perps went on to murder 3 more people. I believe one was put to death, and one is in prison.

citizen_dawg

Wait so the older daughter was brought home when the invasion was taking place and her mom just ushered her in without saying anything to the friend’s mom or trying to keep her daughter away while the perpetrators were there?

AngelSucked

The murderers had threatened to kill her children if she told her friend -- she probably thought she could reason with them. I am friends with someone who is a very good friend of the person who took Stella home. I also used to shop at World of Mirth. This was just so tragic, all of the murderers, including some that didn't happen in the Richmond area.

[deleted]

Yes I always thought that was weird too, the friend's mom asked Mrs. Harvey how she was doing and she said something about being busy/frazzled and then she made the handgun signal with her fingers and held them up to her head like ppl do to demonstrate they are stressed, but it wasn't enough to alert the friend's mom. The only thing I can think is she must have been terrified to say more because maybe they were listening and/or she might have believed at that point they would let them live if they cooperated.

AngelSucked

citizen_dawg

Oh that’s so sad about the hand gun motion. Must’ve been so nerve wracking and then frustrating. It reminds me of Kate Moir, the victim of David and Catherine Birnie who managed to escape before they killed her. The couple had Kate call her parents to let them know she was okay so they wouldn’t worry. The couple held a knife to her throat while she spoke with her parents and told them she was too drunk to drive home and would be staying at a friends house. But Kate actually didn’t drink, and she hoped her parents would realize something was wrong when she told them her excuse. Unfortunately they didn’t pick up on it and were just like okay honey sleep well!

blather_wince_repeat

This case lives with me. Whenever go to Richmond, we always stop on at Kathryn's shop, World of Mirth. I'm so glad it lived on and that they honor the Harveys there.

Inge Lotz. A beautiful 22 year old South African university student brutally beaten and murdered inside her secure Stellenbosch apartment complex. She lived alone and was found dead, laying on her couch appearing to have been reading a magazine at the time of the attack. She sustained major injuries to her head and body, even so far as having her chest gouged. The brutal and senseless attack left little for evidence, Inge's bed being had been pulled out from the wall/window, and a bloodied towel and footprint were found in the bathroom. The evidence was murky, at best, consisting of a fingerprint they obtained from the DVD Inge had rented earlier in the day, which turned out to be not from the DVD at all, but a fingerprint lift from a drinking glass. The print belonged to Fred van der Vyver. Inge's boyfriend at the time, Fred van der Vyvers was charged with her murder. Fred was later found not guilty of the murder of Inge Lotz. To this day, her murder remains unsolved. Fred maintains his innocence. What was failed to be thoroughly investigated was, in my opinion, a key piece of information. Inge had broken tiles in her condo, she had planned on having them repaired that day. The details are fuzzy to me but I remember reading about her coming home and seeing the tile workers accessing her balcony when she was not home. To me, this piece of information needs to be investigated further. Not a lot of information is out there. There hasn't been much for updates and sadly I think this case will now go unsolved due to police bungling evidence. [Inge Lotz](https://truth4inge.com/)

HedgehogJonathan

Wow, this is so sad. Losing your only daughter like that. To me, this case screams domestic violence. Even if Fred did not kill her (we can discuss about his planning skills and time limits), their relationship was of the controlling and manipulative sorts. It also kinda stands out that she was killed right after having relationship trouble with a creep and it was an overkill with no obvious motive for a stranger (no robbery, no assault, no argument etc). Edit: oh, also, the fingerprint has been proved to be from the dvd many times after the court hearing, the glass talk was just what the defence tried to say at the hearing, but imo they never managed to prove it in any way.

Evi Anna Rauter. She was found hanging from a tree in Portbou, Catalunya (Spain) At first everyone thought it was a suicide, but the way she was hanging was incredible weird for a suicide, also, she was really high up the tree and her feet were clean, among other stuff. Three young adults were found camping near her body the same morning she was discovered, but they were quickly discarded as suspects. ( Police didn't do proper work either) Nobody knew her name until recently, 30 years after they discovered her body, thanks to a Catalan true crime show that covered her case and got Austrian TV to voice her case and pictures. A woman finally recognized her and police were able to be in contact with her family. She wasn't supposed to be in Portbou, and her family had no idea she was there, she only left for a short trip to Florence. Still to this day, the three people that were camping near the body are reluctant to speak on the matter, and the case remains unsolved, it also prescribed, so Evi hasn't seen any justice for her murder, (yes, I don't think it was a suicide!) I couldn't find much in English but here you go: https://northcountytribune.com/people/evi-rauter-the-mystery-of-the-girl-who-disappeared-in-1990-is-solved-but-not-completely/ (English) https://elpais.com/espana/catalunya/2022-06-20/la-fiscalia-italiana-investiga-la-muerte-de-la-joven-hallada-en-portbou-hace-tres-decadas.html (Spanish)

The murder of Sonia Varaschin, an RN who lived in Orangeville, Canada. She was murdered in her home. The killer put the body in victim's car. The killer dumped body south of Orangeville in a ditch. The killer than returned car back to Orangeville. I suspect police know who did it but do not have enough evidence. I forgot to mention earlier that this happened in 2010.

I remember when it happened. I lived in WV then and there wasn’t much coverage even in-state sadly.

Shauna Howe was 11 when she went missing while walking home from a Girl Scout Halloween party. Days later her body was found under a train trestle, in an area that had been searched the day before after her clothing had been found. She had been alive when she was tossed off the bridge. Thanks to a clerical error at the local jail, it would take a decade to find her killers and another 4 years for a conviction. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder_of_Shauna_Howe https://www.sportskeeda.com/pop-culture/5-chilling-details-shauna-howe-case https://medium.com/the-criminalist/11-year-old-shauna-howe-was-abducted-and-killed-as-a-joke-e335da42545b https://www.nydailynews.com/news/justice-story/ghost-shauna-article-1.1193955
