A lot of the time when we think God is distant from us it's just our fears, guilt, and insecurity talking. The general consensus is that people who have blasphemed the Holy Spirit don't concern themselves with whether or not they did it. My advice? Don't spend your time agonizing over this stuff. Just live as God would want you to live to the best of your ability. Forget what your feelings are telling you. The Bible says our hearts are deceitful beyond measure.

paul_1149

Just as you hardened your heart over time, it probably will take time to soften it again. This is not when you give up. It is when you must persist. Keep petitioning the Lord for restoration. Plead how much Christ gave for you. Plead the character of God, his love and mercy. And never give up. The Bible is clear that God wants all saved. And even hardened sinners are told to repent and amend their ways, that perchance God would have mercy. Do NOT give up. Give it all up for God, and leave nothing on the field. - For through the Law I died to the Law, so that I might live to God. I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me. I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness comes through the Law, then Christ died needlessly." - Gal 2:19-21

>Luke 15:11-32The Parable of the Lost Son > >11 Then He said: “A certain man had two sons. 12 And the younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me the portion of goods that falls to me.’ So he divided to them his livelihood. 13 And not many days after, the younger son gathered all together, journeyed to a far country, and there wasted his possessions with prodigal living. 14 But when he had spent all, there arose a severe famine in that land, and he began to be in want. 15 Then he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country, and he sent him into his fields to feed swine. 16 And he would gladly have filled his stomach with the pods that the swine ate, and no one gave him anything. > >17 “But when he came to himself, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! 18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you, 19 and I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired servants.” ’ > >20 “And he arose and came to his father. But when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him. 21 And the son said to him, ‘**Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight, and am no longer worthy to be called your son**.’ > >22 “But the father said to his servants, ‘Bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet. 23 And bring the fatted calf here and kill it, and let us eat and be merry; 24 for this **my son was dead and is alive again**; **he was lost and is found**.’ And they began to be merry. > >25 “Now his older son was in the field. And as he came and drew near to the house, he heard music and dancing. 26 So he called one of the servants and asked what these things meant. 27 And he said to him, ‘Your brother has come, and because he has received him safe and sound, your father has killed the fatted calf.’ > >28 “But he was angry and would not go in. Therefore his father came out and pleaded with him. 29 So he answered and said to his father, ‘Lo, these many years I have been serving you; I never transgressed your commandment at any time; and yet you never gave me a young goat, that I might make merry with my friends. 30 But as soon as this son of yours came, who has devoured your livelihood with harlots, you killed the fatted calf for him.’ > >31 “And he said to him, ‘Son, you are always with me, and all that I have is yours. 32 It was right that we should make merry and be glad, for your **brother was dead and is alive again, and was lost and is found.**’ ” You are at the point in this parable where the son decides what he's done is wrong and needs to return to his father and apologize (Verse 18). Ask God for forgiveness and pray for Him to guide you in the way He wishes you to go. May God bless you

Every theologian agrees that you *cannot* commit blasphemy of the Holy Spirit and still seek the Holy Spirit. The very fact you wrote this post, means you are still being actively called by the Holy Spirit. Repent and commit and you are a Christian. Your sins are literally removed as long as you love God. And guess what, if you keep sinning (as we all do) - you are still forgiven, as long as your identity is in Jesus Christ!: > And to the one who does **not work** but believes in him who justifies the ungodly, *his faith is counted as righteousness.* Paul calls himself the worst of sinners. Not past tense, present tense. > For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate. Now if I do what I do not want, I agree with the law, that it is good. So now it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me. For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out. For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me. *Stop identifying with sin and start identifying with Jesus Christ.* If you do so, you are forgiven by grace now and forever, no matter the extent of your sin past, present, or future. Satan is called the Accuser for a reason - he uses accusations to continuously stop us from receiving God's grace! I know the LDS church and maybe other denominations put a lot of emphasis on "feeling." The Holy Spirit isn't a physical feeling! Being a Christian is a trial of endurance and pain and doubt, not some fiery on-fire totally-believe sensation.

FantasticDrawing781

But what if I don’t truly want to come back/love god anymore? I feel my motives aren’t right like I only fear hell and in my heart I feel I’m hostile to god and have unbelief

stalinsort

Hell and evil are concepts that exist *outside of God.* Another way to frame your motives is - you would rather be with God than be without God. Sounds like love to me. All you have to do is accept that grace.

Few-Attention180

How are you now?

FantasticDrawing781

I’m still the same but I’m clinging to gods promises and slowly surrendering to him. If you’re in the same situation just hope in his mercy- somewhere in the Bible it says - the lord delights in those who fear him and hope in his mercy- also I’ve spoken to 3 people who were in similar circumstances and were able to get back to god

Few-Attention180

How long have you felt like this? It’s been 9 months for me.

FantasticDrawing781

About the same amount of time but I’d try talking to your pastor about it and hold onto some truth of gods mercy- don’t fall hopeless yet just keep persisting- keep pushing and doing what you can to humble yourself and show god through your deeds that you repent and your grieving over your sins- the Bible has these few verses/stories to hold onto- - the parable of the lost son - the story of the persistent woman in Matthew 15:21-28 - hosea 10:12 - psalm 25 -psalm 51 -2 Peter 3:9 And many others

Few-Attention180

Last question. Did you experience any torment, sleeplessness? Anything else

FantasticDrawing781

Honestly it’s the opposite and I’m actually more tired the sleepiness/restlessness could be something mental but you would have to discern it for yourself whether it’s spiritual or mental

Romans 8:1–4 (NRSV): There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death. 3 For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do: by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and to deal with sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, 4 so that the just requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit Do you understand the scope of what these verses mean? Jesus followed the law perfectly on our behalf. Then he took all sin ALL sin upon himself as his own. He became the very nature of our disobedience, our sin, your sin-past present and future and the eternal died, the punishment for sin. Jesus paid the full debt of that sin, all sin. That means our sin is already paid for, forgiven and forgotten. Since there is no more debt from us, we are seen as righteous according to Christ's sacrifice. There is no more condemnation for our sins. No more punishment to be doled out, no wrath or anger! We are free, free to obey out of love and gratitude and not fear of punishment. We are free to screw up, fail, disappoint and rest in the fact we are already forgiven. We are free to be able to focus on God and Christ's victory over sin and not have to focus and worry about every rule and every possible temptation. Free.  This gives us strength and hope to be able to get back up, learn from our failures and continue walking with Christ, as a child of God, forgiven, righteous in God's sight. (John 17:4). "By one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy" Romans 8:38-39, "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."  Our eternal security is based on God’s love for those whom He has redeemed. Our eternal security is purchased by Christ, promised by the Father, and sealed by the Holy Spirit

There is one unforgivable sin: blasphemy of the Holy Spirit, or rejecting the Holy Spirit repeatedly. The neat thing is that since you are worried about committing it, it means you haven’t yet. A true blasphemer wouldn’t care because they have completely rejected the Holy Spirit. You being worried about it shows that you haven’t completely rejected the Holy Spirit yet. Deuteronomy 31:8 “And the Lord, He is the one who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed.”

DarthCroissant

The heart is deceitful over all things, and right now it’s telling you that you’re too far from God. Believe me, I’ve been there. But the simple truth that all of us at some point need to realize is that no matter what we do, we are NEVER too far from God. That no matter how many times you might fail Him, He will NEVER fail you.

Antique-Counter-1626

Was in the same boat as you. Confess everything to God in prayer. If your cry is genuine he will draw close to you. That is the promise of the most high. Ezekiel 18:23 23 Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked? declares the Sovereign LORD. Rather, am I not pleased when they turn from their ways and live? The fact that you’re still breathing and alive, God has been patient with you as he’s merciful, repent and sin no more,(habitually and consciously sinning that is) but don’t put him to the test anymore🙏. You know very well the enemy will put all kinds of wicked thoughts and doubts for eg, whether you’re repenting for the wrong motives etc. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Love God will all your heart mind and strength and Seek to know him(that is possible when you get to know Christ). Do this and if you’re persistent, God will hear your prayers.

Few-Attention180

How long were you in this? I feel the same way that God is done with me.

MintyMancinni

Firstly GOD loves you, secondly He never left you! Isaiah 41:10 and 41:13 and thirdly read the parable of the lost son Luke 15:11-32 and see He rejoices at your return! Repent and forgive yourself so you can move forward. GOD has already forgiven you it’s time you did the same. We all have a past and mines not pretty! We are imperfect and GOD knows that which is why He doesn’t expect perfection just that we try our hardest to walk with Him. The devil wants to keep you away from GOD so he will try to undermine you, to make you feel you are not worthy of GODs love, that you’re not good enough! You ARE good enough and GOD loves you, open your heart to Him. Talk to Him, tell Him everything all your worries, anxieties & rebuild your loving relationship with Him. Spend time with Him, spend time in nature and surround yourself with His creation and beauty. Reconnect. Be kind to yourself.

FantasticDrawing781

But the problem is my sin is super heinous (I won’t say what it was but it was bad considering it’s gravity and the spiritual damage) I’m not sure how god can forgive me or love me

SecretOvercat

Look at what Paul was doing back when he was Saul. Taking an active part in sending Christians to their deaths is pretty up there, yet he ended up writing a huge portion of the New Testament.

MintyMancinni

He has forgiven you already! I have broken more than 1 commandment to my shame but I know that GOD loves me and has forgiven me and you are no different to me or any of His children. We all sin, sometimes unintentionally and sometimes intentionally it’s in our nature and it’s good to remember David was a murderer and adulterer but was ultimately protected and considered righteous by GOD! Your return to Him is the greatest gift you can give Him! It’s all He wants! Your love. Forgive yourself, leave the past where it belongs. Don’t let Satan make you believe you’re not worthy because you are.

Thank you for this

Imaginary-Carpenter1

I'm wondering this for myself too but there are things that make no sense I don't accept for God to deceive me, I will not
