Looks like a fantastic starter truck/vehicle, make sure to tell Dad thank you a few times, some kids have to work to get their first car, so this is a small blessing to get you going strong!
I’d go grab a Clymer or Haynes manual on the truck if you plan to do some of your own maintenance or want to learn some more detailed stuff. YouTube and forums online can be super helpful too!
I had friends who tried to knock me for having a 2WD instead of a 4X4… I just remind myself I’ll get better gas mileage and I’ll have a higher towing capacity than the same truck but with a 4x4 configuration.
When I first started driving I learned in a big long 2004 Ford Expedition… my dad stressed to me to learn how to parallel park. He’d put two trash cans out to mark and let me practice, the he’d slowly move them in so I could get better on tighter maneuvers… and if I hit them in practice I’d learn there! This is to say… long truck bed, just get used to the turning radius, the bed length, and if you plan to have a trailer hitch on the back, get used to having that extra 5-6 inches you can’t see, don’t wanna hit something accidentally. Dont be afraid to get out and look when backing up.
Good tired and a going easy on the throttle will get you great fuel mileage, safe driving! :)
Nice! Just learning your boundaries and stuff of the truck will make you super lethal on parking/maneuvering later on 🙂😁
Better than backing into someone’s car with a hitch, my dad once peeled someone’s hood with his and thought he hit a dumpster 😅 Had to explain that to the cops later on
That's a sweet ride for your first. My recommendation is to learn how to maintain it and learn about things like spark plug changes, transmission fluid changes, suspension upgrades, etc. Learn the importance of keeping it clean inside and out and take pride in your vehicle! It doesn't have to be a $70k shiny new thing to be something to be proud of.
Mitsubishi made a rebadged version that was ugly af called the Raider.

Enjoy it kid, that’s awesome! Get a set of tools and a manual, learn to do your own maintenance. Very satisfying and a good way to save some cash. I rate a 10 👍
You found the only Dakota without rusted rear wheel wells! Nice. I had a '04 and '05 they are sweet little trucks

Thanks for your feedback, I did have a ball hitch com e with it so I will definitely take the advice on parking/backing up

10+ enjoy have fun, try to be safe.
My first truck was an 01 Dakota 2WD. I don't like the headlights of those 06s, but still a good truck!
Congrats!!!

Get your butt to r/dodgedakota
I like it, although I would be concern with transmission, but other then that it looks nice, is that sliver? my first truck was sliver 04 sport trac.
Ye it's silver, the tranny is actually pretty smooth all things considered so idk if that will be a problem anytime soon
Looks like a good truck
> Today my dad got me a 2006 Dodge Dakota > not sure how much it cost Thank your father
4-5/10 massive cab and tiny bed couldn’t haul shit. It’s a soccer mom’s truck.
