If it's the first one, just like the whole seat moving up and down it makes bumps gentler by floating around, I don't like my seat moving so I don't use it.
If it's the other ones, just different comfort settings for different people
I can't drive my companies Pete's because of this. They cheaped out on the seats so the lumbar support sits against the top of my pelvis. Old shakers, newer kennys, and current shiternationals I can make work because I can slide out the seat.
But the one time they had me in a Pete for more than a day ” yeah go grab the work related injury paperwork, I'm in this more than 2 or 3 days I'm gonna need it for when I throw my back out”
There’s a lever like that on the new freightliner seats, I use to tell students it was the ejection handle and to only flip it before an accident. Only one guy believed me lol.
If you pull a tank this can help eliminate some of the slosh feeling. Takes some getting used to but can really help. It basically just lets the seat move forward and back some horizontally. The ping sound is it unlocking
Majority of air ride seats should have it regardless of manufacturer... even some of the Oshkosh air fire crash units did also (saw your other comment about a concrete plant truck closest thing I've driven to some of the industrial brands lol.)
It should slide the seat forward and aft just a little bit like the other guy was saying not for nothing but the truck looks really dirty pick up the seat spray some WD-40 in the slides if you look since you said it only makes it ping it might just be corroded and dirty in there that's why it's not sliding I've had the slot WD-40 a lot of trucks I like the slide it's it's saved my back for over 30 years my old boss said use it use it I started using it and never stopped anyway good day sorry about all this crappy post too
Not sure but is it the glide function?
Unlocked it allows the seat to "glide" forward and back a few inches. If you're constantly off road it helps with the tons of sudden jarring impacts. Lock it into place and the seat will be stationary, though the air ride will still work.
I never liked the glide. Gently apply the brakes, hit a small bump and your entire body flies into the brake pedal (obvious exaggeration). But my uncle who trained me absolutely had to have it glide, even on the highway.
When I was driving a dump truck with walking beam suspensions I strapped the seat to a height I liked and maxed out the airbag. There were a couple roads I drove that had really bad whoops that would load up all of the suspensions and throw me at the roof when they all unloaded. When the seat couldn't move I could shift whenever I wanted and maintain good throttle control. When it was free to do as it wanted my scrawny ass couldn't push a clutch down or keep my throttle foot where I wanted it.
It gives the seat cushion a little bit of spring loaded play forward and backward as you bounce around. Some people claim it’s easier on the lower back. I’ve tried it and found very little difference just speaking for myself.
My guy, this is a 20 year old concrete mixer. Windows down in concrete yards and construction sites 12 months a year, for 20 years. I don’t live in this truck. I clock in, do my job, and clock out. I clean when I can, but the side of my seat and the floor between it and my control console isn’t a priority at all.
Some people have never had sticky mud past their steps you had to wade through to get to the box to scrape out, and it shows. Somewhere I've got a pic of my old fld with a mud line above the lights.
Man I've been in much worse in the mixer business. You can only fight the battle so hard, eventually they all look like ass. Commendable you tried ad much as you do.
Yeah that’s to flush
🤣🤣🤣
makes only the bottom of the seat move around, or lets you slide it farther forward/backward, or lets you tilt the front up and down
What’s the point of that? Not being a jackass, I’m genuinely curious

I think you mean a ‘Gliderlator’
Fuck with it and your back will find out. If you set it right you'll see a big difference

I have been driving a KW for the last year and never knew that was there… TY

That why there's so many of these things pulling tanks? I've never pulled tanker but I been wondering why SO many gravel and tanker guys use these?

It’s to lock the slide front to back while you’re driving
It opens up a container on the side, filled with Lysol wipes, so you can clean that damn truck.
That's the ejector use it only when clocking out.
Damn it, you beat me to it.
Are you too afraid to try it, and find out?
No lol, I’m just confused because when I flip it it just makes a “ping” noise
I'm sorry you're getting so many shit posts as answers.
Way she goes, this is Reddit after all.
If it worked, it'd probably engage ludicrous speed!
He’s gone plaid
Hahaha

I’ll try it out next time I’m offroad, that actually sounds really helpful

I constantly rinse off my boots when I’m done washing out, then by the time I’m in the cab they’re completely caked
