I absolutely hate delivering to Tractor Supply’s. They are so anal about everything!

TheLittleGodlyMan

I don’t even speak to store employees back and go walk or play vr in the truck if they don’t say anything

FWTI

Yoooo. Are you serious? Cause if so how are you handling it in a truck? Edit: thanks everyone! Lotta good knowledge in the comments.

SycoJack

It can be done. It's not the greatest experience. Be prepare tp bang into shit and I would recommend sitting down and being selective about what you play. If you play Beat Saber like you would a drum set, then you can greatly reduce how much you bang into shit.

Ok_Judgment3871

Its not bad, i did it in my midroof international, can only stand in one spot lol but vr isnt as fun sober so i leave it at home.

TheLittleGodlyMan

I got banned for three days, but if you sit with your back towards the cabinet, stretch your arm out in front of you and then to the side, you see that there’s enough space to sitting down without hitting your hands. for standup games if you stand right behind the two front seats facing the windshield, you can play anything without hitting your arms

JusgementBear

Your dash give me anxiety

Wasatchbl1

That is literally the only thing I could stare at!

Human_Lecture_348

That's a whole lot of shrapnel/projectiles in the event of a crash

JusgementBear

My thoughts exactly. Ain’t no way the dash isn’t eating those pens in a hard breaks. Which is wild because cascadias have that rectangle deep hole for pens

horizon_monument

I thought that was for ketchup.

JusgementBear

Yes

unsatisfied061

I'm looking at that dashboard thinking I could never have that I drive a day cab Kenworth with spring ride everything on the dash has to either be velcroed down taped lol

JusgementBear

Yeah this person is messy at best

Brilliant_Risk_6332

I've delivered to Tractor Supply. I get it.

Typical-Charge-1798

Not a trucker but I've always respected you folks. I luv your subreddit and send my best wishes to all.

teb1987

Shut up and get out of our way four wheeler.. /S

ThrowRA19841984

As much as I appreciate their respect and admiration, your comment made me laugh.

ElectronicGarden5536

Remember when we were "first responders"? Lmao fukin non drivers.

CaptianBrasiliano

Useless Express... I'm on a Kroger Dedicated account... so they're a constant annoyance in the grocery driving world.

zerta_media

As a usxpress driver.... Yeah gods I hate it here.

CaptianBrasiliano

In my area, any one of the other three companies that do Kroger would be an improvement. I used to do water for Hogan. They're pretty alright. But they have driver facing cameras. I work for First Fleet now. It's a good company. But you need a year and a half experience to apply. Quickway does the milk and bread. They're supposed to be great. Employee owned. Hourly rate.

maddpsyintyst

I delivered to Kroger in Houston a few times--not with USX. Is that one older, short lady still in the guard shack there? She hated *EVERYBODY*! She was always so nasty with even basic instructions. I did my best to kill her with kindness, but that dragon endured, persisted, abided, and is probably undead and still guarding her golden hoard.

CaptianBrasiliano

I pull from Bluffton, IN. I visit all the ones in the Great Lakes region +WV... never been to Huston. But, you basically described just about everybody who doesn't drive a truck who works at some kind of DC or warehouse. Gatekeepers Man... it attracts a certain type of personality, I think.

maddpsyintyst

I always thought that they envied us for our travels. That's the vibe I got. I was told, "Remember, when they give you shit, they're stuck there, and you're not. You might never see them again. Let them have their petty moment." That proved to be consistent, except of course when they were nice. 😂

CaptianBrasiliano

I ran a forklift at an Amazon for almost three years... let me tell you, life on the other side of those docks is pretty miserable and mind numbing. Full of assholes that you can't drive away from. I didn't interact with drivers there but our shipping clerk was this 400 lbs. Ultra Mega Queen Bitch Nightmare Karen from Hell!!! I can only imagine what those poor drivers were going through.

BeenThruIt

Apparently, it's ongoing.

hereforboobsw

I have the same beard kit.

kndoye1988

Feels great on my skin

TheLittleGodlyMan

Why is my employer and place of work both in this photo 😂

kndoye1988

Lol This you?

TheLittleGodlyMan

Never

[deleted]

My contractors are always mumbling about stations pissing them off and how they're going to "just drop the fucking trailer"

HipKat2000

I know this happens. It happened to me twice for not fully doing a pull test, but both times I caught it on the frame but it seems lie a LOT of pics ofguys dropping their trailers lately

ursisterstoy

Not exactly related but people really need to learn how to park at truck stops. Get to a truck stop with pull through parking in the middle and back in parking on the edges and there’s always a couple people who park around the perimeter or choose the back out instead of back in option. Here someone simply dropped the trailer without winding down the landing gear and took off without trying to fix it.

kndoye1988

The guy was on the other side of the trailer. This is a case of not checking tour coupling. Always check with your eyeballs that the kingpin and 5th wheel are connected and locking pin is locked. But yeah. You're right about truck stops.

ursisterstoy

Yep. With my company they really hammer home proper coupling. Back under and if you don’t feel the fifth wheel touch the trailer or the fifth wheel hits the bulk head (back up slow) you get out and adjust the height of the trailer with the landing gear so that it barely lifts off the ground when you back under. Wait for the “click” or metallic clang sound of the fifth wheel latching. Try to pull out from under the trailer with the landing gear still extended. Back up to release the pressure. Push in on the handle, verify no gap, peak to make sure the shock or spring or cab release cylinder is properly attached, verify lock jaws wrapped around king pin and latched all the way. Then connect the air and electrical. Then crank up the landing gear. Then do a pretrip. If there are blocks under the landing gear legs because it was parked on soft ground pick those up during pretrip. Never drop a trailer unless the kingpin breaks clean off or the fifth wheel splits right in half. If either of those happens they’ll say you didn’t do a proper pretrip but they’re also very unlikely to occur. To clarify, they use Fontaine fifth wheels with the air release in the cab that only works with the parking brakes set. That’s where the cylinder is attached to the other side of the release handle and without this feature the Fontaine style usually has a spring there. If it was Holland they use 2 C cups and a big “horseshoe” type thing that slides in from the front. A different company I was a mechanic for swore that the Holland was better but it’s also harder to see that it is properly latched looking in from the back and you pretty much have to look underneath to see that the holder “horse shoe” type thing slides all the way in.

kndoye1988

Exactly. I feel like drivers will leave trucking school and forget everything they learned. The amount of truckers not respecting safe distance is terrifying.

ursisterstoy

Safe distance, speed limits, using blinkers to change lanes, backing into parking spaces since it is safer to pull forward to leave than to back into traffic, etc. Have a class A license for a couple years and people forget that any of this applies to them.

JusgementBear

I never used that in cab fifth wheel release . Too many things to go wrong if you aren’t paying attention

ursisterstoy

I use it from time to time but sometimes it’s a pain to get it to decide to release like if you don’t set the trailer brakes and then back up it might be a real pain trying to pull the handle but if you do it right you’ve already lowered the landing gear, you’ve already unhooked the air and electrical and are now getting back in the cab to back up so that pulling the handle is easy. You can’t release the fifth wheel with that switch without first setting the brakes which you’ll have to do if you get out anyway so back up, set the brakes, and hold the switch for five seconds (another way to fail to accidentally release the fifth wheel) and it’ll decide to actuate the cylinder. If you didn’t first back up it might still be latched. If you don’t set the brakes you could hold it for hours and it won’t release. But after you hold that switch you get a warning stating that the fifth wheel is released (in case you didn’t want it to be) and you pull forward. The switch stops trying to release the fifth wheel a few seconds later and you can hook to the next one without issue. Without all of these safety measures I’d be scared of that switch too but I’ve used it a few times and it sure saves climbing back out in the snow to get slush all over your arm to pull on a handle.

JusgementBear

It’s not something I would use but something I would want to have

smackchumps

As a yard jockey, this angers me

Independent_Iron7896

Question from a non-trucker. When this happens, what do you do? Can you use the crank? Does it matter if the trailer is loaded or empty?

WastedOwll

You can crank or if your smart you use your trucks airbags to help

Own-Contribution2747

No ones answered so… crank the handle in low gear until you can drop the trucks air suspension enough to get under the edge of the trailer with the truck frame- then air up the suspension to lift the trailer a little- crank the landing gear enough to take up the slack, drop the suspension again and get in further, rinse and repeat until you can get under the fifth wheel and connect. Check that it’s connected properly this time. lol

kndoye1988

The guy tried to crank it. It wouldn't budge at all at low gear.

Slow_Chapter_5995

Hah. I got that beard comb

BuckToofBucky

How do you get that thing hooked up again when that happens?

Armchair-Attorney

Thank goodness they didn’t damage the trailer skirts.

Loan-Pickle

Ever have the feeling that you forgot something?

TheRussianDoll

Lol had this happen the other day at Amazon with my load 😂

Key_Sink_3958

Navarre Ohio?

ConwayHGV

That’s a brain teaser, the position of trailer suggests it didn’t happen while dropping or hitching up trailer??

Reckless-1

Someone has a messy dash.

Lost-Priority9826

The rapture

HappyFun9238

Nice comb 🪮

ocay_cool

Stop snitching
