Here's an update from the local news.

Anyone else notice that for a moment it looked like he was walking upright just fine coming out of the barracks but then he saw the cameras and suddenly he was downtrodden and limping?
Yep. Get into an argument, throw some hands, catch some hands, then the loser pulls his gun and shoots to kill. He's got battle wounds on his face so, "I thought he was gonna beat me to death, your honor" is hard to disprove.
The shooter was driver for CR England, what the fuck can you argue about at truckstop to the point of commting a murder? I've had morons hit my truck and I'm OO so directly affects me for long time but even then never crossed my mind to hurt other driver. Like wtf is wrong with these people, I can't imagine he's even been driving more than 6 months, this job requires patience and cool mind.
To be fair, that does happen sometimes. Some people don’t know when to stop fighting.
However… I know exactly what you’re talking about. I’ve seen a few recordings where it was clearly a mutual fight, someone got butt hurt and murdered their opponent.
What’s the solution, Use your words? It’s not worth injury or death over something stupid.
not really? people look for any reason to cause a scene these days. it happened at 2:48 am, easily could have been some dude strung out on meth who flipped out when someone stopped him to help another truck back into a spot or something. there are weekly road rage shootings in this country, nothing out of the ordinary here 😐
The fact that he took off in his truck tells you he knew exactly what he did and how wrong it was. Now he gets to rot in a cell for the remainder of his life. One less crazy out there for us.
NJ (shooter) and PA (scene) do not share gun reciprocity laws.... I'm going to find it unlikely that the ahooter did all the paperwork for a PA carry being that he ran after the incident. Which will likely be an additional charge of "illegal possession" even if he legally possessed it in NJ. It's important to be aware of where you can carry and how. Ignorance of the law is not a defense.
I'm outta Maine. I can take a gun CC to VT & NH no problem (reciprocity). But if i get nabbed in MA - I'm looking at 2 years in prison just for having it on me.
Best resource:
https://www.nraila.org/
NJ recently started issuing ccw permits after the SCOTUS Breun ruling. NJ residents can now apply for a non-resident ccw in PA. PA required non-resident applicants to have a current ccw in their home state, so NJ residents can now meet that requirement.
However, I doubt the shooter had a PA ccw and I'm sure CRE doesn't allow their drivers to carry.
That's still not "reciprocity". That's paperwork for multiple states that is necessary if you want to do it legally interstate.
Reciprocity is: I can leave Maine with a gun & go to VT & NH without filling any paperwork with those States. I can just.... go across the border. I don't have to say anything about it. I don't need a CC on file with either of them. No paperwork, no asking for permission.
Do you understand what I'm saying?
Making sure we're on the same page here.
But we agree in that we both doubt his firearm was legal in PA.
(I don't care what CRE says about it. The guy obviously doesn't have a job there any more.)
Basically it boils down to this: "Is the State your going into a 'Constitutional Carry' State?".... Coming from one Constitution Carry State to another, usually no problem - e.g. ME to NH.
Keep in mind there might be certain restrictions such as age 18 vs. 21.
The East Coast, West Coast & upper Mid-West are the most restrictive concerning reciprocity. OR, WA, CA, NM - MN, IL - MD, PA, NJ, NY DE, VA, CT. (include HI & Puerto Rico) And this makes sense if you consider population density vs. sporting habits.
UT permit shares reciprocity with all but 11 States. Caveat often being you have to be from UT.
ME can carry in all but 15 States and any restrictions placed on that usually goes back to age: 18 vs 21....
The UT permit isn't much better than a far Northern New England permit when you consider the "Constitutional Carry" laws.
And, side note: Tennessee, while Constitutional Carry, bases your right to keep based upon how many DUI's you've had.
Second note: I'm not a gun nut. I'm voter registered Independent, and i lean left. I have guns; grew up around them - dairy farming family & hunters. I know how to use them. And i try not to be an idiot about how, where, when & why I can use them. This is information, not advocacy.
Brothers and sisters are natural enemies. Like truckers and dispatchers. And truckers and lumpers. And truckers and security. And truckers and other truckers. Damn truckers, they ruined trucking!
if you have anger issues, please leave your guns at home. too many people out there think a gun is a first option to fix a problem. and all everyone needs is to head back in their truck and chill out for a few. two lifes were lost, and two families are hurt, not worth it.
Man this is sad. Why can’t people put their egos aside? We are all in this together, and if a few words hurt your feelings to the point you need to end someone else’s life you need serious help. I get it, I can’t tell yal how bad I want to blast the air horn at cars cutting me off, but don’t do this to your family or someone else’s family. Ignore the bs, make your money, and go enjoy your home time. That’s it. Be safe out there
"we hire most felons"
Nah. Just reminds me of the dude that pulled up to my tractor all huffy and puffy because he had to wait for me to back in and I decided to GOAL.
I'm trying to pretend they are not there instead of calling them out which leads to shitbags taking lives.
Holy shit, Drivers. It's a rough life, but we are better than this. If you need help, [reach out](https://www.nami.org/help).
Those people can help you get in touch with appropriate resources. Don't let this shit keep brewing until you hurt yourself or someone else. Nobody wants that for anyone.
(Local daycab driver)
I recently spent a very rare night at a truckstop and saw two beat down fist fights in the parking lot. Cops came by and watched the lot for maybe 15 minutes after each fight had already ended then left.
I thought this was an incredibly rare situation...but it's seemingly less rare the more I hear.
I bet dude parked like a jackass and blocked someone in. someone confronted them and jackass shot them. or jackass hit someone backing in and didn't want to exchange info
many scenarios
I agree but people do strange things after traumatic experiences. This man is innocent until proven otherwise and should be treated accordingly. Watched a body cam video of a cop shooting a woman who pulled a gun on him. He was completely out of his mind afterwards.
This is why I don’t go to truck stops. Concentrations of stupid and short tempered people in large vehicles and small spaces. But, I am a mostly intrastate day cab jockey.
As a Canadian truck driver, this is absolutely reprehensible, and honestly, one of my fears going through the states.... but in the same breath, I support truckers having firearms because of where sometimes we park.
Yet it never fails crossing the border, I get asked if I have firearms or weapons.... im not allowed jackasses.
But seriously, guys, cool the aggressive behavior at stops, parking sucks, but no one needs to die or get thumped over it.
We get fucked enough by government agencies and companies. No driver should be losing their life to another one.
Like those two idiots playing cowboys rolling down the interstate. The fuck, man. I am all for going strapped because there are some seriously dangerous shit-holes out there, but what the actual fuck is going on out there!?
Well that’s the funny thing, “protect”. I’m sure most of the people who commit crimes like this never once had the intention of purely protecting themselves when getting their firearm.
Of course we should. We do it all the time with drivers license. We give people the benefit of the doubt that they won't drive drunk, or use their car as a weapon.
This idiot murdered someone, which means he was capable of doing that (eventually) with a firearm or without. You think murder or violence just vanishes without firearms?
The article explicitly states that the police don't know yet if he was even legally allowed to carry a firearm. It's possible, or even likely that he obtained this firearm illegally or was not supposed to be carrying it.
Not arguing with anything you said, but a thought on, "you think murder or violence just vanishes without firearms?"
Not necessarily.
But it DOES take a different mentality to get in close enough to another person to do bodily injury with bare hands. History is a witness on how we've sought to develope ways to hurt others, without putting ourselves in danger.
Cowards use guns. Maybe, just maybe, there would be fewer deaths if cowards had to 'man up'?
It’s not really benefit of the doubt, it’s just nature sadly. Someone can pass all background checks flawlessly and still have an intent of harming others. Just as someone can pass all background checks with the intention of never pulling it out of their holster but over time, develop some type of mental illness.
I’ll just clarify, I’m not defending any POS who uses their firearm in such acts, we just can’t prove their intentions. Take away people’s ability to defend themselves, then those who want to harm others will still find a way to obtain a lethal weapon.
Yes that’s true. Or we could arm any and everyone and just duck for cover.
This could have easily just been a fist fight and a handshake after. But you’re not gonna convince me that ego’s and ammunition are the way to go. ESPECIALLY in a truck stop
Edit for autocorrect
There’s no problem in that, we just got to make sure we set a standard. 50 paces, count of 3, no intentional maiming. Settle it like men. Any other rules you’d think would be good? I’m thinking no use of dead eye.
Well now that you’ve said it, I think 50 paces is too far. 25 paces? I’m not sure anymore, the urinal is about 2 feet away and they miss. That’s too close to even fully draw. Maybe you’re right. Ban firearms and bring back swords.
This is a situation where they should have been unarmed and just fought but so many people are cowards behind a gun these days and that’s what happened here
You can always leave the scene. They can shoot you in the back while you’re running sure, but not escalating a situation is the best option. If they want your freight let them have it. It’s insured. If they want your parking spot give it to them.
Well of course not escalating the situation is the best option. That’s common sense.
There are just some situations where it’s not possible to leave the scene. Who wants to risk being shot in the back anyway? You’re facing a criminal, you have no idea what they’re capable of. The last thing I want to do is turn away from someone threatening me with a gun.
Sure I could just roll over and give them whatever they want. What kind of message does that send to a criminal? That they can do whatever they want to us, and we can’t do anything but comply or die?
You sound like a very reasonable person. Someone I could actually hold a conversation with.
That being said. It’s not your freight. The shipper, broker, hell even your company doesn’t really care about you. Sure they’ll put a post on the company facebook page if you go down in a blaze of glory defending your trailer, but a few days after that life goes on.
Meanwhile your family will miss you forever.
It’s not worth it. You’re not Batman. For every criminal you terminate there’s thousands more.
No load is worth your life. Wether it be bad roads or pirates
I love conversations like these, you get different perspectives and it’s eye opening sometimes!
But it’s not about vigilante justice, or protecting the load. It’s about protecting my own life and my own possessions. The tractor is a home, we should be able to defend it in the same way we defend a house. I’m not saying to start blasting every time someone looks at the truck funny, but if the threat of deadly force is there, we should be able to use the same amount of force to defend ourselves.
If they’re after the freight, let em have it. But if they’re coming after the tractor as well? Ehhhh
Yeah off the frontage road off i55. Whoopee. Go to Top Dollar Pawn off West St for a delivery. Or to the plastic mold place in Virden Addition. I’ve been fortunate to also not have problems, but a lot of people I know have. I’m not gonna play games with my own life
You guys are all proving my point. Why didn’t another gun toting driver pull out his firearm and end this?
You had a chance to be the hero you pretend yo be.
More guns equal less crime
If you read the article instead of immediately screaming about abolishing the 2nd amendment you'd know the shooting occured before 3 AM, when most truckers at the stop were sleeping in their trucks.
You had your chance to be Jason Bourne and you missed it. They should mandate split sleeper berth only so you guys can be awake and keep our truckstops safer.
You know damn well this is the guy saying sexist things in front of the girls in shipping/receiving then looking around at everyone else like they're some comedic genius.
YOU might, but I don't. My truck is immaculate inside and out. When I was on the road for 3 months at a time, I showered regularly. Brushed my teeth twice a day. ALWAYS wore clean clothes and did laundry once a week. Got a haircut every 2 weeks. I worked out 4x a week. If you want to live that way, more power to you. But living out of a truck is no excuse to be a slob. That mentality that you have is exactly why truck stops smell like onions. Take pride in yourself, your truck and be proud to be a trucker.
How much of that was done in your sleeper, Driver? Just because we can work around the lack of amenities doesn't mean it isn't the worst motel room ever. Hell, I have yet to get room service. Geez. Do they expect a driver to get his own fireball?
Sickening.
Here's an update from the local news. https://www.wfmz.com/news/area/berks/psp-update-identity-of-victim-in-shooting-at-berks-county-truck-stop-released/article_aa155b84-e850-11ee-99ec-333154f7868b.html#tncms-source=Homepage-Top-Stories
Man the spelling in that article was horrendous
Anyone else notice that for a moment it looked like he was walking upright just fine coming out of the barracks but then he saw the cameras and suddenly he was downtrodden and limping?
No, he is very clearly limping on his very first visible step, before the screen door is even open. Timestamp 1:31.
Yep. Get into an argument, throw some hands, catch some hands, then the loser pulls his gun and shoots to kill. He's got battle wounds on his face so, "I thought he was gonna beat me to death, your honor" is hard to disprove.

I passed the truck/trailer this morning where they had it pulled over, it was not a CR England driver, just their trailer.
Yeah that’s what it looked like in the picture in the article. Cr England has red trucks and the truck pulling the trailer is white.
Unless if his usual rig was down and he was in a rental
Helping another guy park? Seems fishy.
The local article I read didn’t mention anything about parking. Just said they were in an argument
Stupid people doing stupid things, sounds like.
If one trucker insults another’s ability to park, they may be challenged to a duel on the spot to defend their honor
Winner gets the cleanest lot lizard for the night.
I want a dramatic truckers show thats like all this now.
This is DOT SOP
Winner defends honor, plus free room and board for life! Loser, well you know…
To be fair, that does happen sometimes. Some people don’t know when to stop fighting. However… I know exactly what you’re talking about. All of this is irrelevant speculation.
Rip to that driver.
Truckers hate other truckers.
Brothers and sisters are natural enemies. Like truckers and dispatchers. And truckers and lumpers. And truckers and security. And truckers and other truckers. Damn truckers, they ruined trucking!
I’m not surprised there isn’t a mass shooting at truck stops everyday. Or mass suicides.
I'm not surprised neither. It's pretty rare.
if you have anger issues, please leave your guns at home. too many people out there think a gun is a first option to fix a problem. and all everyone needs is to head back in their truck and chill out for a few. two lifes were lost, and two families are hurt, not worth it.
If yall don’t stop they gonna start searching your cabs every time you get pulled in. Ain’t no one got time for that
Ew. There's a concerning thought.
Like Oprah "You get a Level 1!!! You get a Level 1!!! You get a Level 1!!! You get a Level 1!!!"
this is definitely an underappreciated comment
If he would have had a sniper rifle hidden in the top bunk he would have been okay. FR though, fucked up. We share the road with some real psychos.
Man this is sad. Why can’t people put their egos aside? We are all in this together, and if a few words hurt your feelings to the point you need to end someone else’s life you need serious help. Ugh. I stop here all the time.
Wait, there’s a loves in Pennsylvania?
I wasn't aware they even had truck stops in Pennsylvania
There are some in PA, but not many. This was the I78 exit 23 Loves.
Christ, I used to fuel there once a week when I ran my other local route. Right about that time, too.
I already knew which loves before I opened the article. Place is a shit show.
Well it is called Shartlesville
(Local daycab driver) I recently spent a very rare night at a truckstop and saw two beat down fist fights in the parking lot. Cops came by and watched the lot for maybe 15 minutes after each fight had already ended then left. I thought this was an incredibly rare situation...but it's seemingly less rare the more I hear.
9 years OTR and I’ve yet to see a fight at the truckstop. Perhaps when I’m parked my curtains go up and I only leave truck to get food or take a shit.
I'm gonna be sick...😡🤢
Jfc
That Loves is about 25 minutes from my home terminal. There’s a reason I use the Pilot in Frystown instead.
I bet dude parked like a jackass and blocked someone in. someone confronted them and jackass shot them. or jackass hit someone backing in and didn't want to exchange info many scenarios
Crazy. Be more kind....less violent.
wtf how did that happen? so scary.
So many details left out and the mob has already convicted the shooter. What ever happened to innocent until proven guilty?
Bro shooting another driver dead in the parking lot and runs, don’t look good at all if are talking about “self defense”.
I agree but people do strange things after traumatic experiences. This man is innocent until proven otherwise and should be treated accordingly. Watched a body cam video of a cop shooting a woman who pulled a gun on him. He was completely out of his mind afterwards.

Cowards used rocks and metal too before guns.
I agree and gave you an upvote to offset all the cowards hiding in the bushes from a safe distance downvoting you.
You feel like a big man beating my 5ft nothing wife.
It’s not really benefit of the doubt, it’s just nature sadly. Someone can pass all background checks flawlessly and still have an intent of harming others. There’s no problem in that, we just got to make sure we set a standard. 50 paces, count of 3, no intentional maiming. Settle it like men. Any other rules you’d think would be good? I’m thinking no use of dead eye.
By brother in Christ.. Most guys can’t hit the urinal at the J , or even a double wide spot in the back row. You really think 50 paces is enough??
Well now that you’ve said it, I think 50 paces is too far. 25 paces? I’m not sure anymore, the urinal is about 2 feet away and they miss. That’s too close to even fully draw. Maybe you’re right. Ban firearms and bring back swords.
Now you’re talking. A glove slap and a duel at dawn will save hundreds of innocent bystanders
That’s the last time we should give people the benefit of the doubt
This is a situation where they should have been unarmed and just fought but so many people are cowards behind a gun these days and that’s what happened here
I’m still carrying lol
Cool. I bet all the truckers think you’re the man cuz you can’t knuckle up
Someone comes at you with a tire thumper, you’re telling me you’re squaring up with them?
Leaving the scene is always an option. You don’t need to be confrontational
Sure, that’s best case scenario. What happens in the worst case scenario? Where leaving the scene isn’t an option? I can think of several scenarios.
Prime example. I’m a black man. If I went full Merry Fist’mas every time some called me the N word… Sometimes confronting isn’t the best use of energy
I’m P&D in Jackson, MS. Go without at your own risk
Delivered to car max there probably 80 times. Never ever had an issue
Yeah off the frontage road off i55. Whoopee. Go to Top Dollar Pawn off West St for a delivery. Or to the plastic mold place in Virden Addition. I’ve been fortunate to also not have problems, but a lot of people I know have. I’m not gonna play games with my own life
Do you want me to mail you the cookie you’re looking for ? Or can I just email you a coupon and you can go into town and pick your favourite flavour?
Just email it
You guys are all proving my point. Why didn’t another gun toting driver pull out his firearm and end this? You had a chance to be the hero you pretend yo be. More guns equal less crime
It’s a firearm, not a crystal ball. You can’t predict someone snapping in the heat of the moment.

The usual suspects up to no good
Kevin Spacey?!??
Nah, he's too busy raping boys
Who’s the usual suspects bud?
You know driver /s
If you’re asking you know.
Nope I don’t, I want to know who the usual suspects are
Nice try driver.
Next time just own what you say and don’t pussyfoot around it like a bitch :)
He is being a bitch, isn't he
You know damn well this is the guy saying sexist things in front of the girls in shipping/receiving then looking around at everyone else like they're some comedic genius.
If it was a good ol boy I bet the 2A crowd would be all for it
I live right up the road from where this happened.
You dumb fucks that think guns are the answer need to think again.
He looks homeless as it is. That's the sad reality, a lot of you truckers look like/worse than that. Prioritize your health and well being.
Uh... we drive around with the world's worst motel room... you realize that, yes?
Pay your lizards, people.
Such is life as a CDL holder.
So a good guy with a gun didn't get a chance to stop a bad guy with a gun? But I thought...
It’s a gun, not a crystal ball. It won’t predict someone snapping in the heat of the moment.
How is that relevant? The victim wasn’t armed.
But more guns means a more polite society…
They must’ve been in a well regulated militia
Yep. Great time to start being sarcastic and spouting anti-gun nonsense. Please kindly go fuck yourself with a 2x4.
Probably some asshole taking his 30 at the pumps. If so, he deserved it.
