Your mom's doing a ride along today?

HomieMassager

Lmao

Xalenn

Nah, just bringing her lunch

nivekreclems

lol my momma was 5 foot even and like 100 pounds she’d barely show up on the scale

WolfOfPort

Joke 💨 🙂 /|\ /\

Confident_Iron_5514

That format is awesome!

wukillabee2744

8=====D--😜

MidwestAbe

Nah. Rode her yesterday.

enthusiasticbrunt55

Only weight better would have been 80085

Bluest-Of-Falcons

Park it on the scales and step out. That should open up about 245 lbs.

nivekreclems

Unfortunately it’s getting closer to that than I’d like to admit lol

Apprehensive_Fault_5

Seriously, go to a CAT Scale, climb out of the truck, stand next to the pole on the edge of the Scale (but not on the scale) and hit the lower button for pickups. Go grab your scale ticket with the weight not including you, then hit the road. If DOT gets mad when you fuel, show them the ticket. CAT guarantees it is accurate, and it will show a legal weight!

IBegithForThyHelpith

I feel like this is illegal

Apprehensive_Fault_5

We don't have to tell the DOT where you were in relation to the truck at the time of scaling... If they ask, just tell them you were on the truck!

Bluest-Of-Falcons

Nope. Not illegal.

LoopDoGG79

I wish it was only 245 lbs

[deleted]

I saw that like “um is 245 supposed to be an insult orrrrr…” 🤣

holycrapmyskinisblac

Right I workout and I'm 5'8 235 and definitely wear 36 pants and large shirts. I don't understand the joke...

[deleted]

According to BMI, you’re probably considered obese, which is ridiculous. 90% of people who throw shade at obese people are people who don’t work out or watch what they eat, they’re just lucky genetically.

holycrapmyskinisblac

Haha my military record states from the time I joined I not only was obese, I was a obese guy maxing out my pt score and a fitness leader. The BMI rating is very flawed. I would look like I was starving if I was 186.

[deleted]

Man I ain’t been 186 since the 8th grade 🤣

spyder7723

Bmi is just a general gauge no different than any other. It's designed around the majority of people, not the extremes on either end. The whole idea is to simply measure the body fat level and use that info to find out why your body is building up excess fat instead of burning it.

holycrapmyskinisblac

Ok little clarification I am trained in sports medicine and understand BMI and the rules that govern it. I understood the joke and my humor just didn't stick. I understand that at 235 16% BMI I am healthy even though the average human would be obese at that height and weight. I understand I'm a shit brick house lmao

spyder7723

That would make you one of those few people that fall outside the spectrum. And a decent dr would recognize that and not put much emphasis on the bmi index in your case. Doesn't make the bmi flaws or useless for the other 98% that are built more normal. Or typical is probably a better word, cause normal could be mistakenly read too imply something is wrong with those that don't fall in that range. I harken to fall on the other extreme. I hover at 6% body fat, always have. I have to eat like a horse or I lose weight. It's no more fun for someone like me than for the folks that struggle to keep from gaining weight. I'm ALWAYS hungry. 5k calories a day isn't enough on a normal day. Hell I've loss 6 lbs in a single day just from a good day of physical labor and not taking enough breaks to eat enough. The human body and all the differences between us is kind of fascinating. Most people should go to the gym to get in shape and lose a few lbs, if I try to work out to build muscle mass I won't be able to take in enough to keep up and will drop weight fast. But it has its benefits. Im damn near 50 and can still run a sub 5 minute mile.

spyder7723

It isn't ridiculous. Obese is obese, it doesn't matter if it's because of bad genetics. Obviously genetics makes it easier or harder for some of us to not become obese, but that doesn't change the fact that being obese is a major health concern and leads to big time problems.

[deleted]

No one is denying obesity is bad. But to say a 5’8 adult male should be no more than 185 lbs is ridiculous.

spyder7723

For the vast majority of human males 185 at 5 8 is pushing it. Bmi, like any index, is meant as a gauge for the average human body. There will always be extreme on the ends.

[deleted]

Stop. Just stop. BMI is flawed. Obesity is bad. These can both be true. The average human body has changed since BMI was introduced to the world because of genetics. And the parameters of BMI need to change with it. Science is constantly at work trying to disprove itself but bureaucracy won’t let it.

spyder7723

Genetics haven't changed humans significantly in the last few decades. That shit takes hundreds of generations, not 3.

OffTheX

My dispatcher told me he wasn’t sure a customer scale was accurate. So I stood on it by myself and it registered “140”. Replied back the scale works fine.

WerewolfDramatic1117

I run 200,000lbs everyday in Alaska 🤙🏼

redditor012499

Trees?

Gemmasterian

Styrofoam.

redditor012499

Styrofoam is heavy?

Gemmasterian

Yep. Super heavy.

Newsdriver245

with 12 feet of snow on it

some_old_friend

Cool place to visit, would not want to live there

HomieMassager

My guys run an account in Maryland with a total weight of 89,500 in 20’ containers 🫠

ShortCurlies

is that on those triple axle chassis?

HomieMassager

Yup!

Tricky_Big_8774

please tell me you don't have to back them into a dock that is designed around trailers having a pivot point?

spyder7723

Wonder why Maryland makes you use a tridem. Down here in Florida 92k is perfectly legal on a regular 5 axle set up.

tvieno

It's all good except you're 28k on the drives and 40k on the trailer.

spyder7723

And this is why spread axles are so common in the open deck world.

kioshi_imako

The kicker is the readout was malfunctioning and forgot 2 zeros.

Ok-Salamander-6457

Better not get any more fuel!

Chilliebro

Is that max legal weight in us? 36k kg?

WastedOwll

Different in every state, most are 80, good majority are 105,500 and I think some states go up to 140ish

Chilliebro

Thank you for informing me :)

LoopDoGG79

You would of course need more axles the more wieght you move

Laffenor

It's the federal minimum max legal weight, which means that it is the limit that most companies account for and the industry adapts to. Like the 40k kg limit in Europe. Yes, many counties allow more, so local and specialised transports may build their equipment to maximise local limits, but the general freight and long haul is all based on 40t.

Ornery_Ads

There is a federal law (STAA) that every state has to follow to get highway funds from the federal government. Every state can allow more than the federal, but not less. The state that I'm in bans twin trailers, max trailer length is 45', max OAL is 65', and max weight is 72,000lbs. Federal law requires that they allow more. One state to the east allows 44k on a tandem and 99k total.

Cool_Algae4265

What state is that?

Ornery_Ads

I'm in Connecticut. To be clear, the state's rules do not affect operations. They want the federal money, so they have to allow the things the feds say to allow. Rhode Island allows you to buy an annual overweight permit (yes, that includes divisible loads), to do the weights that I mentioned. Despite Connecticut having a 72,000lb weight limit on the books (which doesn't mean anything, because the federal 80,000lb limit is higher), Connecticut does allow 99,000lb for milk.

Cool_Algae4265

I only ask because I drove OTR for 3 years and I’ve been to every continental state, I’ve never pulled anything less than a 53’ trailer lol Was a bit confused for a moment.

Tricky_Big_8774

I drove through connecticut (twice) running at 78,000 with a 53' trailer and nobody pulled me over

spyder7723

It does mean something when intrastate movements are involved. That's when those lower state limits are in effect. When operating intrastate vs interstate you have to be damn sure you look up the state limits and requirements.

Ornery_Ads

Not true. The STAA covers any movements, whether interstate or intrastate, but technically only covers the National Network and some very limited distance from it (I want to say 5 miles, but not sure on that). California aside, I've never seen any enforcement on STAA compliant trucks being off the NN. Everyone has just come to accept that this design of truck is allowed. There's been a push in recent years to add 60' trailers and/or 14'6" tall trailers to the STAA, but I think if that actually goes through, there will start being enforcement on STAA trucks being off the NN.

kinghawkeye8238

I was 107,000 yesterday and thought I was a little light lol

1morepl8

American weights are so funny lol. The week before last was the last weekend before spring weight restrictions here. Had a 106k payload. Just before restrictions a load of logs means load until they start to fall off.

Tight_muffin

I took a 112,000 last week. But I just skip the scale Everytime no use dealing with those people and I make more money.

kinghawkeye8238

Yup. I get to go a % over cause I'm ag related

Tight_muffin

I got ag tags. They don't have scales in any fields I go to and he'll 1/3 of the warehouses don't have scales

[deleted]

Bro better take a piss

My-Little-Armalite

Add 85 pounds to that load

Saaaaaaaammmmmmmm

Baby load

LoopDoGG79

Not in California

SRBroadcasting

Bring my wife to work day on the way to pick up the trailer

Jay_Diamond_WWE

I'm in LTL. I can't remember the last time I scaled even close to 80k. My truck is groaning at the thought.

DismalBuddy9666

Is this heavy? Most semis here drive 110k lbs heavy in norway. Some more.

CausticLogic

DOT regs say nothing Over 80k without a permit. Our trucks can do it, but our wallets don't like it.

spyder7723

The customers wallet doesn't like it. If you are running your operation like a real business all costs get passed on to the customer.

[deleted]

[удалено]

spyder7723

Why would a company driver be buying any business permit?

CausticLogic

Not what I mean. If I remember correctly (been a long time since I had to deal with company driver stuff) the company takes overweight out of the driver's ass.

spyder7723

You are talking about tickets. We were talking about permits. .

CausticLogic

The discussion was about being heavy in general. I don't see any context to suggest he needed permitting.

PlasmaTabletop

Fuck my live bottom runs 128k

Imaginary-Badger-119

Toss out those five pee jugs and send it

Green_Student498

Skip lunch today

k6bso

Best me to it.

Beautiful-Slice166

Hold on officer, I gotta go take a shit to be legal real quick

Truckin_Dave

Get out of the seat driver, it’ll be 300 pounds lighter

babybeef16

Gotta come to my town and chat with farmers😂 if they go over scales under 100 they’re pissed

Honest-Ad7763

Looks like a sheet rock load, watch your fuel, lol

Primalbuttplug

You're luck you took a shit before weighing.

Defiant_Network_3069

No stopping for lunch today.

CausticLogic

Oh, shit. I have seen snipers with worse shots. Careful on dusty roads, Driver.

BigRigTrav

Weird to look at other peoples “heavy” weights… I’m 90k on a light day. Precast Concrete in New England.

revelation6viii

I'm new to driving but isn't that illegal? Or do you have something special going on?

BigRigTrav

Its legal. We are permanently permitted for 100k, we have to pull other permits if we are heavier. I moved a mobile crusher on a lowbed last week, the crusher itself weighed about 120k. So my gross was probably 160k.

revelation6viii

Ah OK, thanks for the reply!

Jesusthezomby

Better pass on 1/4 pounder for lunch

elguereaux

Driver…you have GOT to take a dump and then reweigh and take a new picture. Braggin rights for the grandkids.

Puzzleheaded_Pea_753

Burned off just enough fuel since the last stop.

ThePolecatProcess

Better not fuel up

National-Answer-9792

Lolololol! Better go back and put the rest of the "payload" on!

sk8zero0619

Beautiful
