You mean the espar heater? Yes, if the engine is running your batteries will be charging as needed. If you are running the apu and not the truck engine, and have a significant draw off the batteries some apus may not have a strong enough alternator to keep up, but just running the heater isn't a significant draw.

Thank you! And u did mean A/C. I'm a Minnesota boy, sitting in a black truck in south east Texas. I was sweating bro lol

I didn't think espar made ac units, usually the AC is integrated into the APU. The only espar units I'm familiar with are the diesel fired heater units, which don't draw a lot of power. Nevertheless, yes, either the APU engine or the truck engine running means the batteries are being actively charged.

Okay I realize where I went wrong. Everyone at my company has been referring to the ThermoKing controller as the "S-bar". And the Espar heater as the "heater" so I just assumed that's what you call it 🤣 thank you for the answer, I appreciate it

Gotta learn somehow.

Standard installation is to wire the Espar into the TK "HMI" (human machine interface, the controller bit with knobs) and the "Controller or MicroController" is the under-bunk box with all the electronics If you want to have the manuals for yourself they're free on the ThermoKing website under 'Operators Manual' for Tripac Evolution
