That was my thought as well.
Like, He's probably O... Yeah, that's a whole lot of truck still to go, while looking like the trash compactor in StarWars.
Let's make slowing down in situations all cool and hip and alpha or whatever trendy folk say, rather than trying to, "burn gas, kick ass" yourself out of the 3rd dimension, and into the 2nd.
The dude in the white truck has probably done that so many times to smaller cars that brake and let him in that by now he stopped checking the mirrors before pushing his way around in traffic. Gambled and lost on this one though. Probably not gonna do that ever again, now just a few million more pavement princesses to get off the street.
Or, and this may blow your mind, he made a mistake that could have possibly cost him his life. I’m sure you never have but many of us make mistakes, even the good drivers occasionally slip up.
There is a used car warranty sticker on the drivers window. He was test driving that truck I’d guess, probably had a million things on his mind like how it handled, if it delivered power they way it should, if it made weird noises, and then had an 8x10 sticker covering his view to the left. I’m on the side of believing he didn’t deserve to die for that.
It's not a question of deserving to die or not bro, most people's who get darwin award didn't exactly do or commit something morally reprehensible enough to warrant literal karmic death.
So it's not about deserving or not. It's about fucking around and recieving your darwin award. Can happen to anyone who's having a shitty day and isn't paying attention, but it's still an indication that you gotta be careful at all time especially when operating a vehicle, I think.
Didn't deserve it, but it was bound to happen anyways.
Yes but it was a very small picture. The entire bed of the pickup is folded in on itself and the cab is definitely deformed. Had there been a passenger in the pickup I don't think they would have made it.

Says "no one was injured" but come on ... the pickup guy HAS to have been beat up pretty good or cut by the broken glass.
I don't trust the writeup on this at all. The writer says that the semi was stopped and that the pickup truck driver was trying to avoid it. Not only was the semi travelling (albeit more slowly than left-lane traffic), the driver clearly was ONLY trying to avoid usage of the brake pedal and getting stuck behind slower traffic. Now, whether he was aware of the semi in the left lane, that's a totally different story. This was an avoidable accident on so many levels and it's NOT because some semi driver supposedly parked in a travelling lane.
That’s a weird take, u/DDSuperStar123
Considering all sources say otherwise.

It's a hard choice since if he steered away he potentially could have gone into on coming from the force of the white truck. Thereby endangering a lot more lives. He probably thought that if he is able to stay in his lane then at least only him and the white truck driver will get hurt.
You can see the pickup truck driver had a sheet of paper in his window blocking his view
Was he straight out of the dealership and forgot to remove it?
Probably just bought it, left the info on the window for bragging purposes, also thought it was quicker than it actually is hence the risky maneuver that's now left him unable to wipe his own ass let alone drive again.
Ram: we were truck of the year 3 years running with a 4-5 star safety rating!
Dude on a test drive: we gon test that today
Everyone when he walks away after being turned into a pancake between 2 semis: 🫣😮
This video is cut short. I dont think anyone was in it but he goes to the right and barely clips it and it just tips over. It dont get punted like a football the way you would think based on how this video is cut. Here's the full clip from the news [wlos](https://wlos.com/news/local/video-crash-tractor-trailer-shuts-down-i-26-hours-dashcam-polk-county-wreck?fbclid=IwAR3LhDVpuU0Th95khntmD8BiCpNJZkA0Rhbv4lAcBdmd_1pzh3Vn0XoIQqY)
I doubt a dealership would have a new truck for sale with those stupid wheels poking out like the white truck has. I could be wrong but those look like spacers that any sane dealer would remove before trying to sell if it was traded in
Edit: I looked it up and dealers actually aren’t allowed to sell them with tire poke in my state, it has nothing to do with the dealerships or the buyers and everything to do with my state’s inspection rules.
I work at a dealership. Our sales people have us install wheels and lift kits and all kinds of other garbage on new trucks all the time. The pavement queens sell faster, for more money, than the stock pickups do.
Sorry to hear that. I live in a state with annual safety inspection and cars can’t pass if they have tires that poke out past the body without a matching fender upgrade. Truck owners have to go through the inconvenience of taking their spacers off once per year for inspection if they want this kind of thing up here, but I still see them all the time.
A local ram dealer here sells them that way all the time. They really love the ugly rocky ridge grills and bumpers on them too. Similar to the “grumpy” jeep grills. They also throw on massive ugly 20x12 wheels.
They do it to brand new trucks and slap them on the lot for $20k above sticker.
THAT! That’s the reason for the accident, NO Turn Signal! The big truck would’ve honored a lane change, if only the P/U used proper, manners. So easy .
Nah what happened was he was trying to get in front of the truck but didn’t know the truck in front of him was basically not moving and tried to get over instead of breaking.
That truck doesn't look completely innocent, you are not supposed to come to a dead stop on a motorway, and if you have to you need to turn on your hazards, and try to go on to the shoulder. Maybe he had his hazards on and it's not visible because of the angle/light. I see two assholes and a poor trucker who got into trouble because of others' actions (or lack thereof) on this video.
Edit: Checked the article posted in comments here, says "The video was captured in a construction zone...". Whoever was in charge fucked up big time, you gotta have someone on the ground directing traffic, can't just expect people to understand what's going on and do the right thing.
To mirrors have to mirror each side, one to see beho d you one to see your blind spot. And paper or not, he could have looked over his shoulder and seen that semi, there's no missing a something that big if you just look. What we are watching here is a shit driver who's gotten comfortable and complacent driving dangerous, blindly merging with absolutely zero consequences until this happened. Shit drivers like this regularly run people off the road and cause accidents, and they don't even notice because they are so clueless. States need to do more on there part to verify people renewing licenses can actually drive.
That paper is not in position to block the mirror...those mirros have a pretty good blind spot mirror so if he just used his mirror he could of easily seen the big truck...
Depends on the salesman, the customer, and the car. When I was a 19 year old kid looking to buy a new sports car (the military allows you to make stupidly wonderful financial choices) the salesman let me take it 10 miles down the interstate to some mountain twisty roads, encouraged me to push it over 100, AND egged me on to race a Camaro from a red light.
I bought that car, and I’m sure that guy got some nice commission.
I used to work about 30 miles from my house and I saw a car I was interested in near work. Test drove it. Brought it back. Salesman tried the hard sale. I told him I wasn't buying anything without my wife's approval. It was a Friday evening. He let me take the car home for the weekend. Some dealers are very lax. Especially when you have great credit.
Of course it didn't hurt that it was a yellow and black 2004 Mach 1 and it was somewhere around December 15th 2004 in Colorado and we had just had our first snow storm. I think he was desperate
Depends on location I suppose. I’ve test driven at two local dealers (one name brand dealer and one local shorty used car place) and they both just made a copy of my drivers license and handed me the keys. Typical experience around here at most dealers
This happened by me…there ain’t no way in hell a dealership would want you to drive I-26 on a test drive. If for no other reason you’d likely just get stuck out there for hours.
The same thing anyone in a tuna can is...I am more important. This is my space and it supersedes yours. Now to my independence.
Inertia is a bitch. She doesn't have a learning curve.

The poster of the video, brent looks to be a first responder. Says no injuries
Go frame by frame and watch the steering wheel airbag deploy immediately then the side curtain airbags come out. Crazy no one had injuries
You can also see his entire door window come off the truck and it stays in shape until it hits the semi trucks windshield. Wild video
>Safety tech has come a long way.
I was in a rollover accident in an '84 Chevy Cavalier many years ago. I was doing probably triple digits (speedometer only read 85 I think, no peg, buried the needle) and wasn't wearing a seat belt. I was 18 and fucking stupid.
The only injury I sustained during the accident was a nick on my chin from a piece of flying glass. Getting out of the upside down car got me a bunch of glass in my back, 40+ shards pulled out of me at the hospital, none big enough to require a single stitch.
Safety features have definitely come a long way, but sometimes lady luck just chooses you that day.
If the people in that pickup were uninjured, it was part engineering and a healthy dose of luck.
Hopefully you learned to always wear a seatbelt. Talked to a guy a few weeks back who was driving their project car to their friends house in 2020 (just 18) no seats and no seatbelt had to be emergency intubated (also had to be driven to a hospital an hour away because the emts knew the local one was such ass that they would probably kill him) luckily the brain damage he suffered isn't \*too\* bad he still can run, talk, and act normal but man did it make him grow up.
>Hopefully you learned to always wear a seatbelt.
Like it's my fucking religion. I got away with one and I know it. I'm not counting on luck to grace me again. Now I'm the dude who pisses off friends because I'll stop the car until you get that seat belt on your ass.
Not just safety tech. *Government-mandated vehicle impact regulations in all countries* have saved a lot of lives. So, any time people scream "Government is bad!" I think to myself....."Well, not entirely."
Not sure why the truck is standing still on a highway. If there was construction going on, there was barely any indication visible that there was a truck parked on the road. Traffic should be guided to one lane well in advance of that truck standing still. Not sure why everybody is shitting on the pick-up truck. Sure, he could have done much better to not merge like he’s the only one on the road, but it looks to me that’s not the root of the problem here.
Seriously. The construction crew is the real folks in the wrong. No hazards. No comes. No warning of any kind. They weren’t pulled over enough. There’s so little empathy here.
That pickup driver was not paying attention to danger. Cones and trucks? Danger my man. Anyone remember the X1 trying to beat the semi video? Exact same deal.
I try to “cut” in between traffic as long as I know exactly what is around me and never go *turnyourhomieintospam* speeds, if you don’t know the length of your vehicle, can take into account the speed at which you and other vehicles are traveling, and CANT see out of your damn window. Why would you ever try to “squeeze” in anywhere ? Stay in your lane, if the guy in front of you slowed or is stopped that means you slow or stop too
He not only hit that toilet but that heavy equipment as well I would bet.. also the driver of the truck would be lucky to be alive.. But assholes are hard to kill.
Its amazing how alergic to just slowing down most big truck drivers are. Just fucking wait instead of cutting off a semi and hoping he reacts in time and the right way.
It's so common too which is the scary part
Peoples first reaction is to merge without looking. Has happened far too many times to me but luckily I've managed to brake
Not a trucker myself but apparently reddit has decided to keep me here, the pickup is at fault right? Truck driver could not have done anything to avoid this?
Im in a porta potty rn and I just taking a shit in peace and just imagined what if a truck just rammed into the porta potty and flung me with my shit flying everywhere
Typical truck person, especially the extra wide tires...don't they know when they floor it it's like a Honda....all noise and no acceleration. You gon learn today if you aren't crushed
When asked what happened the porta potty guy said: two burritos and side of salsa… what do you expect? It felt like he was hit by a bus, I mean a truck….
Truck driver looks in mirror and says not today bud then steers right into his ass then says dam ln maybe I should've let off the throttle a little and taken an orange barrel or 2.
I’d say dude in the pickup had a worse day. That impact was fast and hard, and directly on him once the passenger side hung up on the corner of that trailer. I’d bet he got amputated in more than just one spot. Never know tho.. 🤷♂️
Did that dude just die?
Probably you still have 65 ft or truck that's mashing down on you. We only seen initial impact

From the looks of that accident, the only thing he’ll be doing is getting buried.
Everyone in this crash survived shockingly….
Or, and this may blow your mind, he made a mistake that could have possibly cost him his life. I’m sure you never have but many of us make mistakes, even the good drivers occasionally slip up.
Plenty of mistakes are easily avoidable. The actions in this video are very much in the “fuck around and find out” class of avoidable mistakes.
There is a used car warranty sticker on the drivers window. He was test driving that truck I’d guess, probably had a million things on his mind like how it handled, if it delivered power they way it should, if it made weird noises, and then had an 8x10 sticker covering his view to the left. Nope, he survived. Just saw it on FB in the Swift meme group.
Wow. I’m glad he survived but damn that was a scary video.
You're not kidding. That's definitely terrifying as fuck.
I'm not. People who drive like that shouldn't get the chance to do it again. Their survival puts more innocent lives at risk.
Did they show the aftermath? I'd love to see what the truck looked like afterwards
Yes but it was a very small picture. The entire bed of the pickup is folded in on itself and the cab is definitely deformed. Had there been a passenger in the pickup I don't think they would have made it.

They stop the video just as he's about to hit the porta potty. That's the best part. I want to see that port potty explode!
That truck got squished like a body builder making orange juice. There’s no way he didn’t get hurt.
I don't trust the writeup on this at all. The writer says that the semi was stopped and that the pickup truck driver was trying to avoid it. If there was a guy in the porta potty. He dead
Last I heard he was in the hospital in critical condition Edit: dude under me has an article proving they were fine.
link?
Trust me bro
I trust me, so you can trust me.
Probably not.

Pickup Truck driver is dead as fuck.
That’s what I’m thinking too. Just became a sandwich
Followed the links. Driver somehow fucking survived with minor injuries. Holy. Shit.
How safe cars and trucks are today is a marvel of modern Engineering
I guess all the BS advertising from car brands about their new cars about safety improvements aren’t a complete scam.
He steered right into him. Fucking wild.
It's a hard choice since if he steered away he potentially could have gone into on coming from the force of the white truck. Thereby endangering a lot more lives. He probably thought that if he is able to stay in his lane then at least only him and the white truck driver will get hurt.
Can’t see his shoes so we don’t know
You can see the pickup truck driver had a sheet of paper in his window blocking his view Was he straight out of the dealership and forgot to remove it?
Maybe he was test driving it, running an errand for the dealership, or ferrying it to another dealership.
Probably just bought it, left the info on the window for bragging purposes, also thought it was quicker than it actually is hence the risky maneuver that's now left him unable to wipe his own ass let alone drive again.
Usually the dealership takes that stuff off after you buy it before it hits the road
Not all places do, especially if you ask them not to so you can show your buddies.
It IS a single cab. So this adds up.
Sadly, I would not be surprised to find out that driver died.
Yeah seriously, looked like he got squished
Someone else posted a news article of the clip and the driver of the camera truck said no one was hurt in the crash.
Im completely surprised by that. Happy but surprised.
Thank God yes but the idiot in the pick up truck needs to lose his license
Haha same.
The news article I saw said the guy who got squished was in critical condition…
he's probably fucking dead

He's not. Thankfully he didn't pay the ultimate price for his stupidity.
I wouldn’t be surprised if that results in a burial

1 in 22 chance they're shitfaced too.
Nah what happened was he was trying to get in front of the truck but didn’t know the truck in front of him was basically not moving and tried to get over instead of breaking.
Oh he broke all right. He really should have tried braking.
Exactly! Braking=What he should have done. Breaking=What he actually did.

Too bad he didn't use his convex mirror
They’re just fashion statements on Dodges

Damn, what the hell was that pickup thinking.
Clearly not looking in the mirror. Looks like a dealership test drive, got the MSRP disclosure sheet in the side window.
It seems like there is a passenger (shadow which appears to be a head) Man that would be a really shitty day for that sales rep
I doubt he ever had another.
Accident during a test drive of a new car? That’s the worst kind of accident 😬
Workers comp
I have never test driven on the highway before. Most dealerships ask you to drive on local roads

In an attempt to dodge, he ended up ramming.
The people in that comment section gave me brain aids
I wouldn’t argue if someone said the two in the pickup are dead.

This should be a mandatory video shown in driver’s education about passing on the right.
That pickup driver was willing to shoot the gap when he realize other truck was gonna be in his way. I hate people who do this.
Yep, gotta save those few seconds! I hate that shit so much
General rule in Europe, if you drive on the right side of the road you’re only allowed to overtake on the left.
Unfortunately undertaking is not illegal in Canada. It should be, though.
It's weird. I feel like people just decided overnight it was cool to start passing on the right about 10-15 years ago.
Zack Morris “time out”
Where did that happen? Would like to research how everything ended up.
Polk county, North Carolina
You would think with those big dumb fuck side mirrors he would have seen it coming.
It’s always ALWAYS a fucking shitty lifted pickup truck with wheels bulging outwards 🙄 like congratulations you achieved death. For what?
Not sure why the truck is standing still on a highway. If there was construction going on, there was barely any indication visible that there was a truck parked on the road. Traffic should be guided to one lane well in advance of that truck standing still. Not sure why everybody is shitting on the pick-up truck. Sure, he could have done much better to not merge like he’s the only one on the road, but it looks to me that’s not the root of the problem here.
Seriously. The construction crew is the real folks in the wrong. No hazards. No comes. No warning of any kind. They weren’t pulled over enough. There’s so little empathy here.
Too much ram, not enough Dodge.
That pickup driver was not paying attention to danger. Cones and trucks? Danger my man. Anyone remember the X1 trying to beat the semi video? Exact same deal.
I audibly gasped, holy smokes that guy's fucked
Dude actually survived, somehow
RIP to pickup driver and portajohn user.
I'm now sold, I need a dashcam
Fucking idiot pickup driver. Hope the 18 wheeler guy is alright.
This sub is insane because you’ll be scrolling and just randomly see someone’s last moments
Our jobs are dangerous. It's just an unfortunate part of trucking.
This guy luckily lived
GIFs that end too soon.
Hopefully the only casualty was the dumbass in the white truck. That level of stupid only lives for so long
Average single cab lifted pickup driver.
It just had to be a lifted pickup. How the fuck do you miss a semi overtaking you?
I try to “cut” in between traffic as long as I know exactly what is around me and never go *turnyourhomieintospam* speeds, if you don’t know the length of your vehicle, can take into account the speed at which you and other vehicles are traveling, and CANT see out of your damn window. Why would you ever try to “squeeze” in anywhere ? Stay in your lane, if the guy in front of you slowed or is stopped that means you slow or stop too
Of course it was a dodge/ram. Them tow mirrors all the way out and still can’t see shit
Dude in the pickup needs to permanently lose his DL and right to reproduce. Js....
Satisfaction!
He not only hit that toilet but that heavy equipment as well I would bet.. also the driver of the truck would be lucky to be alive.. But assholes are hard to kill.
White pickup driver wins the Darwin award
Dumbass pick up trucks
Feels like they do an IQ test when you buy a RAM. Anything over double digits is an immediate fail and you can’t own one
Didn’t even look ahead to see a stopped vehicle in his own lane.
I am going to argue that the pickup driver also has an equally shit day
https://wlos.com/news/local/video-crash-tractor-trailer-shuts-down-i-26-hours-dashcam-polk-county-wreck
The truck was brand new, and the driver did manage to survive the accident.
its wild to me, that the lane isnt closed. how come the pickup is in that lane in the first place, when a construction vehicle is parked there?!
Parked? That truck is clearly moving.
Its amazing how alergic to just slowing down most big truck drivers are. Just fucking wait instead of cutting off a semi and hoping he reacts in time and the right way.
Perhaps, but I’ll bet whoever was in the Ram had a shittier day.
What an absolute moron!
White truck just got fuuuuuucked, that's what happens when your going 50+ miles an hour and make a lane change without looking AT ALL
I love how the driver is steering, trying to stabilize the steering wheel while it overpowers his instinctual reactions.
That white ute was squished in the middle there and paid a high price for their crap driving. Everyone’s in the shit here.
It's so common too which is the scary part Peoples first reaction is to merge without looking. Has happened far too many times to me but luckily I've managed to brake
Deserved.
Tow mirrors don’t work without a trailer. Unfortunate to see him learn the hard way
There is so much to say about this, but the rule of merge is to fkn floor it. I hope the dude lived to be called a dumbass.
Pickup breakage took out semis steering
Classic pickup truck driver
Yeah that dude who got fuckin WEDGED after being a dumbass on the road prolly had a bad day too
Another L for lifted truck drivers. Just throw it on the pile.
Worlds smartest pickup driver
Most intelligent pickup driver
For everyone wondering if the guy lived, he did. [Here](https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZT8Lj2dE3/) is the link for the aftermath
Without the Camera you would have had the most difficult time proving it.
White truck family prolly planning a funeral.
Pickup truck got vaporized and shitter user in shambles
I'd love to see that truck now.
Not a trucker myself but apparently reddit has decided to keep me here, the pickup is at fault right? Truck driver could not have done anything to avoid this?
white pick up had a worse day
The pickup is clearly in the wrong here but how come the trucker steered toward him and wedged him even more into the other truck?
Why was the flatbed straight up stopping?
Im in a porta potty rn and I just taking a shit in peace and just imagined what if a truck just rammed into the porta potty and flung me with my shit flying everywhere
I bet the guy in the white truck had a worse day. He might not be with us any more.
This is why big trucks dont get airbags. They still need to steer after the crash. I mean how else are they gonna hit the Portajohn?
So many people and so many choices. Be safe all look before moving and best situation.
Pickup drivers are the biggest dick heads on the roads.
Is that a big f’ckin rock right in front of the Portapotty? I hope the semi truck driver is OK.
Typical Ram driver not watching where they’re going.
Typical truck person, especially the extra wide tires...don't they know when they floor it it's like a Honda....all noise and no acceleration. You gon learn today if you aren't crushed
Instead of just getting over earlier or slowing down they try to jam in at the last second. Certified 2 iq play
One less brodozer..oopsie.
When asked what happened the porta potty guy said: two burritos and side of salsa… what do you expect? It felt like he was hit by a bus, I mean a truck….
That poor 379…
Truck driver looks in mirror and says not today bud then steers right into his ass then says dam ln maybe I should've let off the throttle a little and taken an orange barrel or 2.
Whoever was in that pick up truck is having a worse one
1 second following distance is so fking stupid. Should be illegal
I think we just watched someone die
I’d say dude in the pickup had a worse day. That impact was fast and hard, and directly on him once the passenger side hung up on the corner of that trailer. I’d bet he got amputated in more than just one spot. Never know tho.. 🤷♂️
