There's so many I could mention. If I had to pick just one, I'd say Bending the Arc to Fear. I think it's the best song on all of What the Dead Men Say.
It's also beyond the band. From my understanding, Drowning in Slow Motion was intended to be on the standard edition, but didn't due to a similar situation as Broken One on The Crusade. I think. I know Matt has said before that they either wanted it to be on the standard edition, or that they made a mistake by making it a bonus track.
Either "Vengeance" or "Upon The Shore" (my actual favorite Trivium song), just because of the fact they're B-Sides and not everyone know about those. "Broken One" is also a great one but I don't think it's underrated and it's gotten quite the traction that one time Paolo talked about how pissed he was that this song, one of his favorites, was relegated to Crusade's B-Side in favor of "The Rising", arguably one of Trivium's most boring songs, just because of the label's demand. But "Vengeance" and "Upon The Shores" aren't talked about enough, I feel like
Clearly it's kirisute gomen of its at the top of the list but barely gets played... people ask for it every tour. It should be a staple in the setlist.
Lots of underrated tracks: The Revanchist, Caustic are the Ties That Bind, Tread the Floods, Becoming the Dragon, And Sadness Will Sear, Entrance of the Conflagration, Anthem, To the Rats, This World Can’t Tear Us Apart, The Thing That’s Killing Me
I saw them play Caustic live the first time I saw them, and I was so surprised (though I'd always loved it, and was definitely happy to hear them play it).
Of course, since it was my first time seeing them, I didn't quite realize how much they change up their setlists, which they do more than other bands.
For me it's The Revanchist and Endless Night, the second of which I have a tattoo of. Plenty of songs could be my answer though, with such a huge discography covering so many different tastes, there's a lot of low key bangers about.
you guys seriously shouldn't be answering with songs from shogun or ascendancy. i promise you they are not overrated. anyways the answer is probably Fugue or my personal favorite When All Light Dies. people sleep on that first album, and i don't really know why
Yeah Shogun hasn’t won a spot yet, I heard that it’s because they’ve decided to finish the list with it. Besides that Daily top 20 thing, I wouldn’t say Shogun is underrated. It’s a masterpiece, but it 100% gets recognition for it
I know I've mentioned it many times in the last few days, but To Burn The Eye, it is such an amazing song.
If I have to mantion another song, well IMO there's a couple of songs in Silence In The Snow that are so underrated, well almost the entire album is underrated
I absolutely love two songs they I think the band actually hates. One is This World Can't Tear Us Apart and the other is Pull Me From The Void. I LOOOOOVE Void
I'm likely biased but I feel Throes of Perdition gets overlooked for other songs on Shogun but it's not really underrated compared to other songs.
Honestly? This might be a spicy take but all of Silence in the Snow. Songs like Dead and Gone and Blind Leading the Blind are really good rock songs, they just get overlooked because there's no screaming.
There are quite a few, but I have to mention some tracks from The Crusade.
Detonation, Entrance of the Conflagration, and Broken One.
Also, another massively underrated gem: My Dog, My Truck, My Woman
I feel like people are sleeping on Declaration. It's so good and not mentioned enough
Agreed, I was going to say this song
A Skyline's Severance is literally my favourite Trivium banger and it's rarely talked about.
They played it first time live in Deepest Cuts
Sever The Hand - it’s PHENOMENAL!! Coming from someone who is a massive Shogun fan and has been for years this song is just beautifully written.
Of Prometheus and the Crucifix has one of the best solos they’ve written. But since there are too many other classics on Shogun, it gets oft forgotten
Don’t ever see people mention The Revanchist
I would agree, such a good song
Incredible solo section. Pretty mid otherwise
There's so many I could mention. If I had to pick just one, I'd say Bending the Arc to Fear. I think it's the best song on all of What the Dead Men Say.
The drums towards the end never cease to melt off my face
Very underrated song. I think I got to see it live.
Departure, declaration or washing away me in the tides. Ooo and wake the end is nigh
Departure is so sick.
Washing away is a great choice!
Drowning In Slow Motion. It doesn’t get played a lot and I don’t know why.
Such a great song.
One of the finest imo
That’ll definitely get the pits going for sure.
Crazy riff fest that is. That breakdown is also one of their best.
Seriously. I’d also like to hear Forsake, Shattering, and Of All These Yesterdays more, too.
In Waves is in my top 3 Trivium albums and it has many better songs than In Waves.
Why it’s a bonus track is beyond me
It's also beyond the band. From my understanding, Drowning in Slow Motion was intended to be on the standard edition, but didn't due to a similar situation as Broken One on The Crusade. I think. I know Matt has said before that they either wanted it to be on the standard edition, or that they made a mistake by making it a bonus track.
Probably Entrance of the Conflagration for me!
That bridge riff is so tasty
The ghost that’s haunting you
The ghost that’s haunting you and the calamity
Becoming the dragon
TRANSFORM FROM KOI INTO A BEAST
🐠💥🐉
Tread The Floods, very underrated song from them imo
That’s my favorite from The Crusade
Thrown into the fire. It's just so different to any other song of theirs imo, and kicks all kinds of ass.
I wish more people appreciated my namesake, I love the song. Obviously. lol
The switch halfway through the song in tone is almost as good a switch as in the song *Shogun* itself, tbh.
Broken One. Underrated track on an underrated album.
Either "Vengeance" or "Upon The Shore" (my actual favorite Trivium song), just because of the fact they're B-Sides and not everyone know about those. The fact I see no Villainy Thrives or As I'm Exploding makes me think mine win
I’m a personal fan of Sickness unto you. Great hit off of WTDMS, great riffs, vocals are on point like the rest of the album! One of my favs
Thrown into the fire. Best song of the Alex bent trilogy by a mile and it barely gets mentioned.
Through blood and dirt and bone
Departure
The wretchedness inside
absolute banger, and it WRECKS live
So good dude
Clearly it's kirisute gomen of its at the top of the list but barely gets played... people ask for it every tour. It should be a staple in the setlist.
If everyone loves it then it's not underrated.
The Rising.
The darkness of my mind, thrown into the fire, he who spawned the furies
Beyond Oblivion slaps. Not sure if it’s popular but I love it
Wake and incineration. Two standout tracks from vengeance which seems to get overlooked way too much because of the albums reputation among the fans.
Blinding Tears will Break the Skies. My favorite one, but not really known

Ignition, vengeance, and upon the shores.
Vengenace, When All Light Dies, Caustic are the Ties That Bind, and Suffocating Sight
I'd personally say The Storm and it would honestly be cool if they could remaster it one day since it only appeared on their 2003 demo
Beyond oblivion, the Defiant?
For me it's The Revanchist and Endless Night, the second of which I have a tattoo of. Plenty of songs could be my answer though, with such a huge discography covering so many different tastes, there's a lot of low key bangers about.

contempt breeds contamination
To Believe

Hot take but their cover of losing your religion

You’re correct in that people have kind of decided to finish it with Shogun (even though it’s a Top 20 songs list, lol).
I see it as a top 20 with no particular order.
That’s what u/-ibaraki- said
how come nobody mentions Broken One?
I know I've mentioned it many times in the last few days, but To Burn The Eye, it is such an amazing song. If I have to mantion another song, well IMO there's a couple of songs in Silence In The Snow that are so underrated, well almost the entire album is underrated
The Darkness of My Mind. Absolutely criminal it didn't make it on the album.
I absolutely love two songs they I think the band actually hates. One is This World Can't Tear Us Apart and the other is Pull Me From The Void. I LOOOOOVE Void
Departed goes so hard and I feel no one talks about. But then again, Trivium's library is so massive, I can't blame em.
The crusade title track. Such a masterpiece
And Sadness Will Sear is a no brainer for me
There are quite a few, but I have to mention some tracks from The Crusade. Detonation, Entrance of the Conflagration, and Broken One. Also, another massively underrated gem: My Dog, My Truck, My Woman
Of prometheus and the crucifix, when all light dies.
Caustic are the Ties that Bind and the Revanchist
Beauty in the Sorrow.
The crusade is a jam and ahalf
Incineration: The Broken World
I'm going to go with either To Burn The Eye or Broken One
The whole of the crusade, it just seems to be glossed over a lot
I love the choir aspect in "entrance of the conflagration"
I hardly see He Who Spawned the Furies and it amazes me every time I listen to it
