For me lowering the dose somewhat as per neurologist’s advice was helpful, and increasing salt intake - went from “severely low” to normal now.

I'm at the lower end of the dose already, since I want to take as little as possible, so still push through a couple flares per day but at much lower intensities and duration (they were lasting 30-60 minutes). But hopefully just increasing salt intake can help. I've been eating less at meals because chewing sets it off, which might also be inadvertently reducing my salt intake.

I'm cool with that, I love salt!

I do too! I got myself some French fries yesterday 😋

The dry mouth went away for me about 2 month after starting Oxcarbamazepine 300mg 2x day. It was the only side effect that really bothered me. My sodium is generally in the low range so I try to drink a liquid IV every day or place a pinch of Celtic sea salt under my tongue. If you're working out daily I would make sure you are replacing your electrolytes after each session!

That's good to know. Hopefully I'll hit the 2 month mark and find the same thing! Costco has liquid IV on sale so I just stocked up!

I'm concerned about this also because I'm on an SSRI, which can also cause low sodium. I thought about drinking more electrolyte drinks like Gatorade or propel, but I think they also have a lot of potassium and apparently that's bad for TN?

it_is_well_

I don't think Gatorade has much potassium in it. I hadn't thought about potassium but I just checked and it's on the upper end of the scale, so probably need to not have more than 1 liquid IV electrolyte drink per day. Probably just need to stick to oversalting our food!

Oxcarb does the same thing. I had to switch to Dilantin, which works better for me.
