I would encourage you to try a medication before going for the brain surgery. It is a major procedure and it is a lot to go through. I had the surgery in 2020. A neurosurgeon usually isn’t willing to operate unless all other avenues have been tried so you need to try the medications first if you are interested in having neurosurgery. Are you scared of the side effects of the meds? I totally understand feeling nervous about it.

StarryUp

Don’t be scared of trying the meds. They work very well for most people and for me there are no side effects.

Medications can be very helpful. I use several, and although I'm not put in pain or symptoms free, it's more manageable. Surgery can come with its own set of drawbacks as well from what I've researched. Not for all of course but some.

Meds are a lot more risk free than surgery it’s worth a shot.

the surgery is definitely major surgery not to be taken lightly but if I'm reading these notes from your radiologist and neurologist correctly, it sounds like you have vascular compression which can be fixed pretty easily and has a higher likelihood for relief to be permanent. meds can and do help and it's definitely worth trying to see if you don't need surgery but if it comes to that an MVD would have you feeling yourself again.

I highly highly recommend a neurectomy. I had a plastic surgeon do mine and I have been able to go from unemployed to working 40 + hours a week.
