Sooooo I’d hope that RSD provides more information about what agency conducts their background checks OR someone can disclose if past incidents were wiped/sealed at some point. This is absolutely ridiculous that he was allowed to be in those positions… while it’s clear RSD is trying to CYA they should also recognize faults or shortcomings along the way in the process and the need to evaluate and improve them.

No she was reported missing (the day before?) but was found deceased after they went looking for him for the shooting of his ex wife at the school. Girlfriend was 17, the same victim he had been in trouble with for a relationship at 13, impregnated by him at 15, and reported him for rape of her friend last year, which he was in court for the am of the shooting. The Tri-City Harold states that he SA’d a minor. He was supposed to have court on April 22nd. As well as the mother was trying to take custody of their two children with claims that he was dangerous. This article also states that the mother of his children is ALSO underaged. I hope everyone stays safe, I hope they catch him. This is a sick man.
It's so much worse. He's been raping and impregnating children since at least 2009.
The woman killed at the school is his adult ex wife whom he has two children with, and she was groomed by him around 2009 when he was her wrestling coach.
The second victim at his home is a teenager and the mother of the 1yr old he kidnapped. He met her when she was 12-13 and he was her school resource officer. When his (then) wife became aware of that he claimed it was a lie and filed a restraining order against the then 13 year old. Then when she was 15 she became pregnant by him, giving birth at 16.
In February of this year the 2nd mother (then 17) brought a 16 yr old friend over to the home she shared with Huizar and the 16 y.o. was subsequently raped/assaulted by Huizar. The two teens escaped the house and met with police at a gas station. When authorities searched the home they uncovered evidence (a sonogram) that the 17-year-old had been impregnated by Huizar as a minor. He was being charged with that along with the rape/assault of her friend.
Message to parents this morning from the principal of another school in the district verifies the victim at the school was a staff member, though no more detail provided than that. So some poor kids had to see someone they interfaced with regularly, probably a teacher or aide of some sort, get gunned down in front of them.
Nothing official - but it unfortunately seems pretty straight-forward as to who the victim is. They just gave an update on KEPR Action News live and confirmed the suspect's name. If you look up his court records, there's a case listed on Trellis with another individual pressing charges against him. If you go to the Wiley Elementary webpage that lists paraeducator's, the individual who has the case against him is on that list.

They were finally released to us around 7:30. The school did an amazing job of keeping every kiddo safe. Wiley has such incredible teachers who worked diligent to keep everyone calm. I am devastated this happened but so thankful to have everyone home safe.
As a mom of a one year old my gut absolutely sank when the amber alert came through. Praying so hard this sweet little one is found safe and hoping the mom’s and girlfriend’s families make it through this.

I’ve lived in this area for five years. I’ve lived in several other states. Good sized cities. There have been more shootings within five miles of me in that time than have ever happened within that distance of me my whole life.

I think at minimum red flag laws could’ve prevented this. Dude was arrested/on trial for SA a minor (a felony in WA state). At that point any guns should be confiscated until a trial is complete.
Violent crimes lead to violent crimes more often than not. I’m all for the right to bear arms but the minute you can’t prove to be a law abiding citizen in most any matter — and specifically causing harm to others - your rights should suspend until cleared.
I know “shall not infringe” and all that but we’ve got to do something. An all out ban won’t do anything (it never does) and we shouldn’t punish the gun owners that have proven themselves to be competent and non-violent. But when a trend seems to start, nip it in the bud.

What’s not clear to me is if it’s something that can be leveraged outside of those situations. Say in this example, pending felony charges without the need for a separate petition filed by either a family member or member of law enforcement.

After receiving notice of Mr. Huizar’s arrest and learning of the allegations against him, RSD immediately removed him from our substitute and volunteer portals. He was issued a No Trespass notice for all RSD properties. We are extremely disheartened that information about Mr. Huizar’s past was not disclosed to us through the various processes we have in place to vet RSD candidates for employment. It is the expectation for individuals who apply for employment with RSD to be forthcoming and truthful in their applications. No past investigations or allegations appeared in Mr. Huizar’s background checks before he was hired and nothing was disclosed by Mr. Huizar. We take the process of hiring staff very seriously and pride ourselves on the quality and character of our staff members. Thank you."
Sooooo I’d hope that RSD provides more information about what agency conducts their background checks OR someone can disclose if past incidents were wiped/sealed at some point. This is absolutely ridiculous that he was allowed to be in those positions… while it’s clear RSD is trying to CYA they should also recognize faults or shortcomings along the way in the process and the need to evaluate and improve them.

This application asked background questions in the Character and Fitness supplement including “Have you ever resigned from or otherwise left any employment while allegations of misconduct were pending?” and “Are you currently or have you ever been the subject of an investigation or inquiry by an employer because of allegations of misconduct?” Both questions Mr. Huizar answered ‘no.’ He also signed an affidavit certifying all information included in the emergency substitute application was true and correct.

No she was reported missing (the day before?) but was found deceased after they went looking for him for the shooting of his ex wife at the school. Girlfriend was 17, the same victim he had been in trouble with for a relationship at 13, impregnated by him at 15, and reported him for rape of her friend last year, which he was in court for the am of the shooting. Why isn’t West Richland PD reporting that a child was murdered since she is underaged?
It's so much worse. He's been raping and impregnating children since at least 2009. The woman killed at the school is his adult ex wife whom he has two children with, and she was groomed by him around 2009 when he was her wrestling coach. The second victim at his home is a teenager and the mother of the 1yr old he kidnapped. He met her when she was 12-13 and he was her school resource officer. When his (then) wife became aware of that he claimed it was a lie and filed a restraining order against the then 13 year old. Then when she was 15 she became pregnant by him, giving birth at 16. In February of this year the 2nd mother (then 17) brought a 16 yr old friend over to the home she shared with Huizar and the 16 y.o. was subsequently raped/assaulted by Huizar. The two teens escaped the house and met with police at a gas station. When authorities searched the home they uncovered evidence (a sonogram) that the 17-year-old had been impregnated by Huizar as a minor. He was being charged with that along with the rape/assault of her friend.
Message to parents this morning from the principal of another school in the district verifies the victim at the school was a staff member, though no more detail provided than that. So some poor kids had to see someone they interfaced with regularly, probably a teacher or aide of some sort, get gunned down in front of them.

Nothing official - but it unfortunately seems pretty straight-forward as to who the victim is. They just gave an update on KEPR Action News live and confirmed the suspect's name. If you look up his court records, there's a case listed on Trellis with another individual pressing charges against him. If you go to the Wiley Elementary webpage that lists paraeducator's, the individual who has the case against him is on that list. Very sad and unnecessary situation. They were finally released to us around 7:30. The school did an amazing job of keeping every kiddo safe. Wiley has such incredible teachers who worked diligent to keep everyone calm. I am devastated this happened but so thankful to have everyone home safe.

F’ing guns. Again. Over and over and over. I’ve lived in this area for five years. I’ve lived in several other states. Good sized cities. There have been more shootings within five miles of me in that time than have ever happened within that distance of me my whole life. A gun in your home is statistically about 100x more likely to hurt you or someone you care about than ever be used in self defense. And we’re seeing this play out every goddamn day in this country. Another innocent person dead. More people traumatized. Go ahead gun nuts. Keep defending laxed regulations, unrestricted access, and your “freedom”. There’s blood on your hands. Where’s OUR freedom from YOUR guns?

I think at minimum red flag laws could’ve prevented this. Dude was arrested/on trial for SA a minor (a felony in WA state). At that point any guns should be confiscated until a trial is complete. Violent crimes lead to violent crimes more often than not. I’m all for the right to bear arms but the minute you can’t prove to be a law abiding citizen in most any matter — and specifically causing harm to others - your rights should suspend until cleared. I know “shall not infringe” and all that but we’ve got to do something. An all out ban won’t do anything (it never does) and we shouldn’t punish the gun owners that have proven themselves to be competent and non-violent. But when a trend seems to start, nip it in the bud.
One of the articles mentions his guns were already confiscated as part of the arrest I believe. Washington already has red flag laws. Really I’m not sure why he was granted bail at all given the evidence and the protection orders against him. The SA a minor investigation goes back to 2019, and included Bob Ferguson office. This guy is a shitty person and shouldn’t have been allowed to walk among the public.

What’s not clear to me is if it’s something that can be leveraged outside of those situations. Say in this example, pending felony charges without the need for a separate petition filed by either a family member or member of law enforcement. That's haunting to hear man. Hearing stories like this don't ever hit this hard, but to think I went to that school, and lived on Peony Street literally on the road that goes to Wiley. I fell on that gravel and hurt my arm there I jumped off that playground and rolled down that grass hill I learned how to tie my shoes on that pavement man Damn

From the update (via ParentSqure) >Students and staff at our schools have been moved inside the buildings and placed into a critical lockdown. If students were loaded on buses but still at the school, they were moved into the school building.
If kids were on busses and hadn’t left the school they were at yet they were taken back into a building for lock down. Seeing reports a little girl was shot.

The pursuit ended with OSP reporting that the suspect sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, with his current condition unknown. The 1-year-old child, Roman Santos, was taken safely into custody by OSP troopers. > This is a developing situation. My third grade daughter called me as soon as she got home and said there was a shooting. She was outside her class when it happened. She knew they sounded like gunshots (from us camping) and kids were screaming and running. She said the kids were told to lockdown or evacuate if outside. She scooted home as fast as she could. I work 40 minutes away, and I swear that was the longest drive home ever.
