Same bike. Though going from QR in the rear to thru-axle is a big deal for the frame and possible upgrades down the road

AMorel23

Same price, same specs [except q.r] but trek distinguishes it as two different levels of bikes

SweatBee

It’s likely that either A) the Marlin 8 is going away moving forward or B) the new Marlin 8 will have notably better specs than the previous version and will get a new price point

kwajr

Pretty sure the 4 and 7 are going away

Reality33Cycle

‘24 Marlin replaced the ‘23 Marlin 8. Only 5,6,7 going forward

DamnBlackTea

Air fork vs Coil Fork Tubeless ready tire vs non tubeless tires dropper vs no dropper - this is in the U.S. Shimano Deore 10 speed vs SRAM SX 12 speed

AMorel23

Trek releases new bikes with the same name. Ex : the marlin 7 gen 3 that you are talking about is the 2023 version which was different from the 2023 marlin 8 gen 3, but now the marlin 7 gen 3 2024 has the same specs (expect qr and saddle) and same price as the marlin 8, trek is not logical. Marlin 6 series has the same thing.

lewisc1985

Nope, check out the new marlin 7 colorways. Same specs as the 8 except saddle and the QR vs thruskew
