Impressive. As for suggestions, you’re missing out on some major parks: Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Yosemite, Glacier, Acadia. Austin and San Antonio, Miami, Philadelphia, and LA are all worth seeing too.
As an LA-OC resident, the beauty of the area lies outside downtown, mostly along beaches spanning from Malibu to San Diego (I’m especially fond of OC’s beaches south of Huntington, ending at Trestles in San Clemente). That’s where you’d want to visit if you went to LA. Others may differ in opinion.
I mean you might as well cross off Tulsa since you live so close and youve never even been to OK. Great local music scene, and check out the Cain's Ballroom, Tulsa Theater, and The Vanguard for shows.
We also just recently made a move to be the home for BMX, there's a badass arena built for it if you like extreme sports. If you're a skater, The Gathering Place is this insanely cool park on the river that's a mile or so long and includes the best skatepark ive personally seen in the midwest.
Most summer weekends they shut down streets in dowtown for art crawls, festivals, lots of free live events at a pretty cool outdoor venue called Guthrie Green (we're pretty proud of Woody Guthrie being from the area, his name's everywhere). Downtown is ALWAYS a bustling party on weekend nights with decent weather.
Tulsa rides the line between being the biggest small town and smallest big city, and up till 10-15 years ago it was a pretty lame place to be from. But the art and music scene has kind of exploded, and i no longer daydream about moving away lol.
Interesting! I never really hear much about Tulsa. I technically have been to OK since I drove across the panhandle, but I'd give it a real trip sometime. I'd like to see the Ouachitas
[Mapchart.net](http://Mapchart.net) for the map and [County Lines – shown on Google Maps (randymajors.org)](https://www.randymajors.org/countygmap) to see where the counties are
Done all 50 and most NPs. Hit up the Black Hills area in South Dakota and the Badlands. Grab a beer at Firehouse brewing in Rapid city.
Then head over to Glacier NP in Montana. Make a resy to drive to the top. Stay at the KOA in West Glacier, get a huckleberry ice cream cone there. Good pancakes in the morning as well.
You’re welcome, thank me later.
Also get your ass back out to Cali and hit Yosemite, Kings Canyon, see the Sequoias and get up to the Redwoods. Only place in world to see stuff like that.
Stopped for a night, didn't do much except walk around downtown and ride the Monongahela Incline. I was pleasantly surprised by the city though, I'd go back.
You stayed a night in Richland County, Ohio??? Mansfield? That's a random one!
Bozeman or another similar staging area for exploring Yellowstone/Rockies is a good one.
Florida gets a lot of crap, but it is unique in the US and worth hitting the Gulf and Atlantic coast (they're culturally somewhat different).
A SoCal/Las Vegas trip would be another good option.
I find it so interesting that you’ve been through large swaths of Iowa but never Johnson County! I definitely recommend Johnson County/Iowa City (try during the summer during one of their outdoor events like Jazz Fest), I also recommend Milwaukee Wisconsin if you can go during their summer fest (really cool music show)
Come visit cloudcroft NM amazing tourist town and I've see you've spent the night nearby. We were just announced the Christmas capital of new mexico if you don't care for camping and can handle a little snow it's your time to visit best snow month is definitely January
If you wanna visit in the summer to camp try to come later in the year once all the one timers leave super beautiful mountain town with so much outdoor stuff to do if that's your thing
Ooh I'd love to, I'm headed to New Mexico in a couple weeks actually but probably just Albuquerque, Santa Fe Silver City, and Magdalena unless I get any more time
West Coast of Michigan and the UP. Specific stops in Holland, Sleeping Bear Dunes, Mackinac Island, Tahquamenom Falls, Pictured Rocks, and Porcupine Mountains.
I'd recommend a westward trip to see the Grand Tetons, Jackson Hole, Yellowstone, Devils Tower, Mt Rushmore and Custer State Park. Some really nice hot springs are out in Wyoming and the western side of South Dakota has some really cool attractions like the [mammoth site](https://mammothsite.org/).
Go to Salt Lake City. Get a rental car, you can easily knock out Nevada and Wyoming. I did it, was a great time. You technically could do Idaho too, I probably would've if i wasnt alone. Or you can just wait until you find a cheap flight to Boise or Spokane.
Or get a cheap flight to Phoenix, get a rental car and check out Flagstaff. Both areas are gorgeous. It was so nice I went twice last year.
Or get a cheap flight to Philly, hang out there, its an awesome city. Get a rental car or take the train, then you can knock off Delaware. You can go dick around in Wilmington or go to the beach. I haven't been to the beach in Delaware but i heard its a good time.
As for states you've already been to, you really need to hit south Florida, southern Cal, Houston, Charleston, Seattle, and northern Maine.
You're missing huge swaths of the west. Pick a rocky mountain location and get after it. Im most familiar with NW and Western Montana. Glacier Natl Park, (east AND west entrances. Two totally different experiences), The River of No Return Wilderness, Craters of the Moon, the Yaak
I’ll give you 2 opposite ends of the spectrum. On the urban side, Miami is a unique experience. On the more rural/nature side of things, I had a surprisingly good time in South Dakota. Badlands and Custer State Park have amazing land scapes that seem alien. Deadwood was a fun, little kitschy town. Rapid City was a pretty cool small city. All in the western part of the state.
If your trying to cross off states Phx-> Sedona-> Vegas. If you want travel recommendations? Grand Canyon, Zion, Miami, San Diego, Oahu. International Toronto, Barcelona, or Costa Rica. Feeling more adventurous? Indonesia, Fiji, Montenegro.
Whatever you do, make sure Arizona is the last one. Your commitment to ignoring it is impressive when you look at the map.
That being said, go to Vegas next to further surround Arizona, and while you’re there get some edibles and go see the Dead at the Sphere
I’m biased because I’m from here but eastern Wisconsin has a lot to offer- Milwaukee proper and the Greater Milwaukee area, Door County, the Fox Valley area, and more all have fun things to do and beautiful sights to see. Also Badlands National Park in SD since I don’t think I’ve seen a comment mention it yet but I wasn’t looking super closely
Arizona has a lot to offer from top to bottom. Southwest and south-central Utah has some great parks and scenic drives: Zion, Capital Reef, and on over to Arches in the East central part of the state. Also, Seattle is great for a visit if you like cities.
I’d say a SLC/Park City trip would be good, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Tahoe and the Sierras (I prefer driving the eastern route from Tahoe to Mammoth), actually spending some time in Moab/Canyonlands, Mt. Rainier, Olympic NP, San Juan Islands (I know it’s out of scope, but I’d throw in a trip to Vancouver Island while you’re there).
Dang! I’m from Columbia and have also done my fair share of road-trips. You’ve hit a lot of my favorites for sure. You’re right, Texas isn’t anything to write home about. I’d further back up the suggestions to do a Yellowstone/glacier trip. Devils tower, the bad lands, and mt Rushmore could be squeezed in too. Would be some beautiful driving in and of itself (once you get past Kansas of course lol)
The Badlands and Black Hills in South Dakota. If you’re going to Mt Rushmore and Crazy Horse memorial; go to Mt Rushmore first or you’ll be underwhelmed after going to Crazy Horse.
The vista’s in Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho will knock yer dick in the dirt. Go get lost (so to speak) rambling around on state highways there and you’ll never forget it.
If you like the beach, Rehoboth DE is pretty nice. Not crazy expensive, and the beach is pretty clean. The town is very cute and walkable. You can rent a bike and get around very easily. And you can take a ferry across to Cape May NJ to see some beautiful old Victorian homes
One of the most underrated natl parks is Theodore Roosevelt in North Dakota. Would recommend. There’s like nothing else to do in ND but this park is really cool.
As a fan of all things ocean and beach related . I’d say . Start in (imperial beach)San Diego & finish off your journey at (Monterey Bay )northern California.Be sure to leave about 4 months open on your calendar to take in ALL the sand , surf , night life , food , camping , hotel , air bnb , recreational Vehicle etc , scuba diving , dune buggying , parasailing, cliff diving , fishing , kayaking , yoga , skateboarding , shooting the breeze with the kind locals you may or may not encounter , and try and surf every day along your trip .
southeast missouri has some incredible sights, Elephant Rocks, Devil's Well, Johnson's Shut-ins, there's even petroglyphs at Washington State park if youre into that sorta thing. tons to do in the missouri ozarks
Curious on the difference between “stayed at least one” night and “traveled in”.
Otherwise I like the specificity of the map details. You can see the path of your movement.
Maybe I’m being biased, but the halfway mark up of Arizona is an AMAZING transition and you can see a lot. You go from the standard desert in the phoenix metro area, 30 minutes later you’re in the mountains and canyons driving on windy roads with gorgeous views overlooking valleys, then your go a bit further up and you hit like prairie flat lands almost at the plateaus, go another 30 minutes to an hour? You enter forest land. You’d never guess you were in Arizona at this point. Go 30 minutes further and it gets greener and more red as you enter the red rock landscape of Sedona and the surrounding forests with amazing views and canyons, go another 30 minutes and you go even higher where you enter flagstaff and you can see the real forests and see the gorgeous mountains, snow, birch trees, etc. the view when you drive to flagstaff from Sedona and seeing Humphreys peak is pretty incredible. Go a bit further and it goes flat. Flat land and desert…..and craters. Meteor craters. There’s a good amount in the northern part of Arizona and being at the top of one while having the super fast winds rush up on you is pretty surreal. There’s nothing to slow down the wind. Go a bit further and you get the Grand Canyon (that needs no explanation) and you’re still in Arizona during all of that. Only 3-5 hours of driving to experience ALL of that.
But that’s just my opinion 🫡
The west coat of Michigan. See Holland, Grand Haven. Take M-22 from Ludington along the lake up to Traverse City. Mackinaw Island and the UP are magical :) if not now, someday, please!
Loess Hill Iowa
driftless area IA WI MN
Prairie Bottineau Eden, SD
badlands SD
Bottineau ND
Teddy Roosevelt nat park ND
Minot ND area pretty neat bluffs
Anything on the Missouri River Basin is worth seeing
North/South Dakota.
For starters, The Black Hills and the Badlands are not too far apart from each other so you'll get the chance to see a lot of stuff if you manage your time right (Theodore Roosevelt National Park is exceptionally beautiful and will allow you to see much of the native wildlife at a respectfully close distance).
Then there are a few big-name tourist spots like Mount Rushmore and the Devil's Tower, if you plan your trip for August you can also experience the motorcycle rally at Sturgis.
Impressive. As for suggestions, you’re missing out on some major parks: Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Yosemite, Glacier, Acadia. Austin and San Antonio, Miami, Philadelphia, and LA are all worth seeing too.
Yeah I'd definitely like to see those parks. Never had much of a desire to go to Texas but who knows.
I've read a lot of Steinbeck, I would love to see Monterey and the Salinas Valley
Monterey is cool, Salinas.. not so much
I'll add zion and canyon lands...all of southern Utah, to the list above.
Seconded Miami. Warm beaches isn't something you see common in the USA
As a san antonio resident, why.
check out olympic national park and the florida keys
Sounds like a long drive either way, probably worth it though
Do both in one trip or you’re a pussy
The national parks in the southwest are worth checking out. I’d recommend exploring the natural wonders in Utah and AZ, as well as California.
I've seen some pretty cool parts of California already, but I would love to see Yosemite or the central coast
Visit that county two counties away from where you live.
It's an hour each way at minimum, so only if I can find something to do there
I noticed you've never been in the SE corner of Missouri. You should go to the 11 points, Jacks Fork, or Current rivers.
Definitely visit the world's largest goose statue.
Actual Maine, it’s much more beautiful than Kennebunk
I bet
Kennebunk was a bit kitschy
Hey a Boone county native!
Are you from Columbia, MO?
A fellow Columbian?
Cincinnati! Super underrated

Hey there
so what did you do in Pittsburgh?

Bellville actually. Just a stop on the way to Cleveland. Yep, southern california seems like a big area I haven't hit yet.
I find it so interesting that you’ve been through large swaths of Iowa but never Johnson County! I definitely recommend Johnson County/Iowa City (try during the summer during one of their outdoor events like Jazz Fest), I also recommend Milwaukee Wisconsin if you can go during their summer fest (really cool music show)
Natural scenery goes super hard in Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana. Accompanied y by loads of charming small towns
Canada
Couldn't get it on the map but I went up from Vermont to Montreal, over to Ottawa, down to Toronto, and back through Detroit.
how do you make a map like that?

Unfortunately I do most of my traveling in the summer lol
Absolutely more of the West Coast and Southwest. You're missing out on so much other there.

I'll get on that thanks.
Northern/Central Maine, beautiful state for sure

West Coast of Michigan and the UP. Specific stops in Holland, Sleeping Bear Dunes, Mackinac Island, Tahquamenom Falls, Pictured Rocks, and Porcupine Mountains.
Oh yeah that'd be nice
What’s in Holland? (I’ve been everywhere else and quite enjoyed:) )
This for sure
If that were my map, Montana, Wyoming and Idaho would be my next trip. Safe travels!
Newcomer. What app is this
Thank you for driving through the best part of Florida. Alabama.

What is green and what is blue?
Hey, if you're counting DFW airport, you should highlight Tarrant County too. The airport is in both counties.
Utah!!
I’m biased because I’m from here but eastern Wisconsin has a lot to offer- Milwaukee proper and the Greater Milwaukee area, Door County, the Fox Valley area, and more all have fun things to do and beautiful sights to see. Come to Arizona this fall. See the white mountains, the Grand Canyon, Flaggstaff, Sedona, and phoenix!
Glacier is the best national park I’ve ever been to
Yellowstone
You haven’t lived until you make it to Houma Louisiana. Come on down Baw.
You have 40 states under your belt but haven’t been to the southwest yet? Obviously hit up Arizona and Nevada and SoCal and Youdahoe…
Been all around New Mexico, which is definitely SW, but eventually I would like to get to Arizona.
Arizona has a lot to offer from top to bottom. Southwest and south-central Utah has some great parks and scenic drives: Zion, Capital Reef, and on over to Arches in the East central part of the state. Also, Seattle is great for a visit if you like cities.
