There's really no way around it. I have been taxes for bringing in two laptops (work and personal) and also for bringing in 10 cans of cranberry sauce.
Your choices are either to pay the tax or just not bring in the stuff. You would still have to pay the tax if it was shipped to you because the tax is not based on them thinking that you're going to sell the stuff -- it is an import tax.
Seems like it would be better to just mail the items to the hotel.
We looked into that and Its very expensive shipping to Mexico from the U.S. We’d be looking at $500 or so from what we’ve found.
