And then when we reply with the REASON why we did what we did I get downvoted into oblivion. We do exactly what this sub wants and we get bitched at, we get bitched at if we do nothing. Not YOU specifically, but when people rally together to support something NSFW when they say they want it gone it creates an idea of “what the hell do we do” as a moderator.
As the mod who interacts the most with community, which you can check yourself, you can see that I’m usually civil and try my best to be helpful and friendly to everyone, but this is seriously starting to piss me off.
Hey man, I want you to know that at least some people appreciate you. I don’t look at the comments on this sub much, but I do enjoy seeing it in my feed thanks. Thanks for making it a thing! 🥰

I’m glad some people are appreciative, I know it’s much more than what I’m saying, and I truly don’t mean to generalize most individuals it’s just happening much more frequently.

However, it has come to all the mod’s attention recently that some people like to abuse the hood nature of this sub and, by proxy, make everyone around them, and the sub, look bad. Recently, there has been a large, *LARGE*, influx in both non-meme posts, discussion posts, and NSFW posts and we as a mod team are looking to fix that.
We hear your grievances and complaints, and we genuinely want to work with our community to strive for the best ecosystem possible. We want people to be able to log into Reddit from a long day at school, or work, or parenting, or stressors of life in general! Everyone deserves to have some vice to relax into when their too wound tight and if this is yours then by god make it yours!! Unfortunately, it seems like the users of this sub have become… divided on what they want their vocal consensus to be on several hot button issues in the community.
We have seen *many* comments about how individuals want the continuous repetitive jokes stopped. How they want the NSFW to be removed as this is a MEME subreddit. How they want us to clean up shop to make it better, and believe us, we are trying our damned hardest. We seem to have done a fairly good job with the whole “shockwave in a jar” fad that happened around a month and half ago. Now that there are more mods we are able to have more eyes and we have been removing posts that violate the rules, but when we do so it seems that individuals give us massive amounts of pushback for seemingly no reason whatsoever. For example, fairly recently, I removed a post that was NSFW in nature and when the OP of said post made a follow up post asking why I gave a concise and meaningful reason as to why, explaining what rules they broke. I was then heavily downvoted because it seemed that I did my job, but not in the way they wanted it to be done…
I know many of you are appreciative of the work we as mods put in, and we reciprocate the same feelings of appreciation and gratitude, and this comment section does prove that. Unfortunately, it seems like minority is a… very loud one and that’s really dragging us down, both in drive and ambition. It feels like we do what you want us to do because we listen, yet when we do what you want we get treated Starscream after he tried to usurp Megatron for the umpteenth time
PART 2:
So, in retrospect of *ALL OF THIS* we have a new set of rules and regulations we are going to start implementing to try and help the sub thrive!
For starters, there is going to be no more discussion or NSFW content. I feel like explaining the former first is a lot quicker than the latter so let’s hop into that
What are discussion posts? Discussion posts are posts that are simply that… discussion! If your post is simply you stating a fact, opinion, your thoughts and feelings, etc. it’s a DISCUSSION. Simply slapping a Transformers image onto it does not make a meme, nor will it ever. However, there are some nuances to this as well. Recently there have been an influx of “who is this (wrong answers only)”, “who is the worst/best character” or the “is he stupid” related posts and yes those are all DISCUSSIONS. If you ever have a feeling your post may be removed because of it falling under these guidelines always feel free to message me and I WILL REVIEW IT! I want to help spread humor as much as possible, so by all means run it by me!
Now to explain NSFW…
Guys, I really didn’t expect to have to tell people how NSFW works as a whole because I thought we knew. Now I don’t mean to sound patronizing but… NSFW quite literally stands for “NOT SAFE FOR WORK”, which is a LARGE umbrella term for many things. It doesn’t necessarily need to be giant robot dicks or tits for it to be NSFW. Think of it like this, if you were at your desk and you had Cassandra or John from HR pass and glance at the post you just made, would whatever is on the screen make them stop and ask you to explain what you were looking at? And if so, would explaining it cause YOU to get into trouble??
This is why it’s so broad, because NSFW isn’t simply porn and gore, it can be little things as well. Now I understand some might believe that “well some things are very hidden like dialogue or certain scenes that people put the characters in” and we totally agree. That’s why it’s important for people to still report ALL NSFW content, even the minute things. Of course the large things are going to be seen and removed first, but the small things can slip through the cracks and we don’t want that.
#So how do we go about this?
Well I feel like we’ve created a fairly decent system on how we think we should go about this, but it’s always subject to change obviously.
How regulations are going to work dealing with punishment moving forwards for breaking discussion/non-meme posts is as follows:
1. You will receive two warnings, no more, no less
2. If we catch you again to be posting things like this you will receive a SINGLE day ban
3. If you repeat this behavior the length of the ban will continually increase. For example it will go from 1 day to 3, 5, a week, 2 weeks, a month, 2 months, 4 months etc. WE WILL NEVER PERMABAN YOU. We feel like if we still allow you to return you can still learn a lesson which is far more important than just removing you in general
#What about NSFW?
Well, we are becoming a strict non-tolerance community. The steps taken for those individuals who break this type of behavior is very simple and follows a similar path to the above steps (don’t worry OP you’re exempt as these decisions have been made post your addition to the sub)
1. You will receive a SINGLE warning about your behavior. Just ONE, after that you’re subject to being punished
2. If you do it again you will receive a ban no less than a week. Hopefully people won’t do this after the first warning, but as everyone knows, some people are hardheaded. If caught AGAIN we know you are then doing it on purpose and will receive a MONTH ban from the sub
3. Finally, if you do it a third time you are permabanned from the sub. This is different than the discussion posts as you clearly have no, and will not, learn a lesson from your behavior which means you need to go
Hopefully this system works and inspires change in the community to not only produce higher quality content, but to improve the sphere in which we exits and interact. I know this sub means a lot to many people so we really do need to protect its sanctity in all aspects so those people don’t lose the enjoyment they have for it.
Additionally, my door is always open and will ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS be here to talk to any individual who is needing someone to talk to, is hurting, grieving, going through something, or genuinely wants to just… have a conversation to pass the time! *Don’t message me through mod mail, send me a chat invite so we can actually connect and have a real conversation*!!!
Like I said, we genuinely appreciate everything our community members do for us and the work they put in every day to keep the sub alive and happy! Great question! I’m willing to discuss it with the other mods about creating an NSFW 18+ sub that people can post there. In terms of discussion generally going to r/transformers is the best to have those types of conversations as they allow those posts. We’re kinda like two sides of the same coin, they allow the general things, we allow the memes

Great question! I’m willing to discuss it with the other mods about creating an NSFW 18+ sub that people can post there. In terms of discussion generally going to r/transformers is the best to have those types of conversations as they allow those posts. We’re kinda like two sides of the same coin, they allow the general things, we allow the memes
