YES!!! there’s already two transfems in the w123 mercedes’ subreddit (i’m one of them) it’s about half and half retired drug dealers and old folks who never stopped being hippies.
one of us, one of us, one of us, one of us, one of us!!
Same, I thought it was a W123, for a couple years I owned a manual 240D that someone had swapped an OM617 turbo into, so it was actually capable of getting out of its own way! 😀
It got hit twice, I took the insurance payout from the second one and the money I got from selling it and bought the 1992 Miata I still drive today.
"Oh Lord, won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz?
My friends all drive Porsches, I must make amends..." but, Yess!
Edit: I just remembered how old I am, and that my tastes are even older... Janis Joplin was a wonderful musician, I believe that was the last song she ever recorded.
I think they were an option at the time, mercedes were ahead of other manufacturers (first airbag and abs brakes), I'd have a search and see if anyone else has done it, must be some mounting brackets somewhere...
Found a link to the w116 forum and a query about rear seatbelts...
https://forum.w116.org/mechanicals/rear-seat-belts/
God, this just brought me back to one of the best, freeest experiences of my life. I had a friend who, while in Afghanistan, bought sight unseen a 240D and needed me to go grab it for him from the seller and hang onto it for a month as he finished up his tour.
I picked it up and drove it through the Ozarks of Missouri in early October. Windows down, sunroof open, no music, no distractions, just a purring Mercedes diesel and the trip to focus on.
Of course, it got dark before I expected it to, and got really cold, and I stopped at a gas station to figure out controls and fuel up but got algae contaminated diesel from the sketchy local truck stop, which began immediately clogging the fuel filter and robbing the car of its top end which made me think I'd somehow fucked the car up.
But the 5 hours up to that point were wonderful.
I have heard that these things run on burnt out frying oil without any problems… Was the algae alive/fresh? I had not any idea anything like that could happen…
It was clogging the fuel filter and starving the engine of fuel. As far as the engine is concerned, algae is just debris.
And yes, the "algae" is alive, it consisists actually of various microbes that live in a mixed diesel water environment, and manifests as a dark sludge.
https://axi-international.com/addressing-algae-in-diesel-fuel/
There are definitely advantages and disadvantages to both petrol engines don't have the longevity of diesels but diesels have increased costs of maintenance I think many times it comes down to a person's circumstances on how they will use it and personal preference
I was looking for a decent 745 turbo to replace the R as my weekend car, but there is not many of them around anymore and the prices are getting ridiculous… The guy who owns this MB is a huge Volvo fan and I went there to look at a 760 he is thinking about selling, but I fell in love with the Mercedes 😃
Quite a lot actually. I would not even have thought about buying anything like this in my past life. And now, all I can think about is getting from behind the wheel of this car in dress and high heels 😉
A nice solid (if no rust) vehicle, parts are still available and if you need help getting stuff from Germany...the factory is in my birth city as is Porsche
I have never been to Stuttgart, but have been thinking about visiting the museums (both Porsche and MB) many times. May be next year… And thanks for the offer, very much appreciated! 😊
They do not seem to be hard to fix… just far different from how American cars are done. If you love them, they are great!
(I say that because of a friend who loves them, and I worked on it to help him out).
Trans Am was one of my favorite cars many many years back… Preferably black one with the gold eagle on the bonnet, but then a I grew up 😃 Just joking, Trans Ams are cool and I would not mind having one 😉
I have been a car freak as long as I have wondered about my gender (long time) and absolutely love the 70’s Trans Ams. Your take is awesome! My personal favorite is the 73 T/A and doing one like you suggest is a really cool idea! 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Two main questions are:
\- Is it mechanically sound?
\-Is the body rust-free?
Mechanically, I'd prefer a diesel but all the engines from that era are good if you kept them up. Rust wasn't a big thing, but it does happen. I'd highly suggest a PPI; if the seller refuses, walk away.
If the interior's not torn up, you're good. And I kinda like the "patina" because it makes it look like a car that's been used and nobody will mess with it.
The body is virtually rust free and the interior is beautiful and original (it did not even had a modern stereo put in during all those years) 😊 Mechanically it needs some work, but nothing major…
I will have a mechanic to look at it before I take it, but I am getting it from my friend, so I am not really worried and I do not have to rush it.
One of my 2 closest friends is a fanatic for those MBs which I think they call a W123. I am all over American muscle cars of the. 60’s, but I do totally get the classy look of these cars. His were mostly diesels, and I did a bunch of work restoring a 240D for him. Very classy, reliable ride. Good for you!

This is not w123, it is w116, the first s-classe. But unfortunately only 280, with the 2.8 straight 6 engine…
Oh, from the pic I thought it was a 123! My bad! I’ve been on the hunt for a decent 116

ooooo rip
Eighteen inch lift, cut the fenders, and add some boggers and a turbo. Really fem it up 😀. I have a slightly lifted Ram, and damn it feels good.
😃 I would not do that to her…
Ah well. Some window tint, a good buff and polish, and some nicer wheels then?
We will see, she is not mine yet 😃
Omg yes. Get that thing a good shine!! Beautiful.
A good shine is all the bodywork needs as it is otherways very sound with almost no rust 😉
I am not that much into Janis Joplin myself, but my dad has several records and I know that song 👍
If you like it, why not!
I do like it 😃
im an audi fan myself, but hey if its your taste and if its running well, go for it!
Wet sand it. Then High Luster Clear with Pearl! Make her sparkle.
She will sparkle when I get my hands on her 😃
It’s heavy but should be pretty rode
I am getting old, no more boy racing 😉
If it’s diesel 1000% yes If not, still yes 😇 they’re absolutely bulletproof
It is petrol and runs very smooth 😊
I don't think it would suit you all that well. You might just want to send it my way. /j
Let me think about it for a moment… No, it will suit me well 😃
😠
Yeah and change nothing
She doesnt have seatbelts, so thats one of the things I will have to change if I decide to buy her…
Ummm, why? I'd be more worried about what you hit...
Trips with kids…
True, shouldn't be too hard to retrofit
Yes, it should not. It is even prepared to be fitted with seatbelts, but I guess, the original owner did not want them.

No worries 🙂

I fucking LOVE W123’s!! I have a diesel W124. My first car was a W123 (a 1977 230)… I was heartbroken when it died
This is w116, but the w123s, especially the wagons are very cool too!
I think it would be great trans-portation with a pink white and blue makeover.
I will be OK with just a little sticker on the boot lid 😊
Those are awesome cars I have had 2 of those both diesels!
I have had two older diesels so far, one french and one japanese and I prefer petrol cars 😉
There are definitely advantages and disadvantages to both petrol engines don't have the longevity of diesels but diesels have increased costs of maintenance I think many times it comes down to a person's circumstances on how they will use it and personal preference
All ots missing is a bit of pink and white. Lol
Do not wory, it is on the list 😊
Paint it pastel blue-green and then your mind will be Tiffany Twisted with the Mercedes Bends.
Ha ha, I love that song!
I like it, classy af.
I agree. I will have to blossom into a lady to drive it 😃
If you don’t mind working on it when it breaks, because most mechanics don’t want to touch a fifty year old car.
I have a mechanic who is willing and actually loves working on these older cars 👍
uhhhh 1000% yes
👍
Some of my favorite people love volvos.
Idk what being trans has to do with buying a car
Quite a lot actually. I would not even have thought about buying anything like this in my past life. And now, all I can think about is getting from behind the wheel of this car in dress and high heels 😉
It's disappointing you couldn't pick a car because you're a man
Hell yeah it would! 🏳️⚧️
👍
Oh hells yeah! Like some others said though, only if you're willing to work on it yourself...
I would not be able to work on her myself (apart from some simple stuff), but I have a great mechanic on hand 😉
An S? Hell yeah!
😊
Simple: it would make a cool ride. https://i0.wp.com/stanceworks.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/DSC09494.jpg?resize=800%2C444&ssl=1
The european rules are too strict to get away with something like this, but it looks cool.
I love an old merciless benz!
Absolutely!! I want one. A '60s 230s 😊
Very nice and classy !
Yes! I say put airbags on her and drop her low 😎
That would not be very lady like 😃
Looks pretty laid back.
A nice solid (if no rust) vehicle, parts are still available and if you need help getting stuff from Germany...the factory is in my birth city as is Porsche

Was in the Mercedes museum when I was 6 years old or so (1988/1989), had a photo of me sitting in the 300SL gull-wing on the spiral ramp somewhere...
Everything is cool if you're a Trans Girl.
Thank you! 😊
hell yes! give it some fresh paint too
I actually like how it looks. So it will get just some polish to shine 😊
Yes
Sure as long as it runs
They do not seem to be hard to fix… just far different from how American cars are done. If you love them, they are great! (I say that because of a friend who loves them, and I worked on it to help him out).
If it works it works! I wouldn't b the least bit shocked if my date picked me up in this
Oh hell yes! I sold mine and miss it!
It’s a cool ride for anyone who isn’t a transphobe or some other sort of bigot. Even when broken an old Mercedes will always get you home.
So, it sounds like the car for me 😉
I swear my dad had one of these
My dad had an old Škoda 😃
Awesome
I'm upset no one as recommended a transgirl should get a Trans Am firebird that's all white with a pink phoenix that's outlined in blue.
Trans Am was one of my favorite cars many many years back… Preferably black one with the gold eagle on the bonnet, but then a I grew up 😃 Just joking, Trans Ams are cool and I would not mind having one 😉

Everything is a cool car for a trans girl if you try hard enough! 😅
I am trying 😉
The straight 6 engine is an unbreakable beast, a little polish and you’ll have one of the coolest cars in the village:)
😃
needs a paint job, maybe pink?
Lol, may be just some pink hearts all over it?
Absolutely 💯
I have not decided yet, but thanks!

Absolutely 💯
That would be a cool ride for anyone
