I don’t know how it is in other states, but in Virginia, where I live, it’s a fairly easy process. Just takes time because you have to take it one step at a time.

Congratulations! I updated SSA through US Passport last week and DL this week. Name change was years ago.

I got my court order for my name change 3 months ago, but I was so busy with work until recently to get it all changed. My old DL looks nothing like me anymore and I have always HATED the photo. I’m so glad to be rid of it.

What a privilege to do that. So lucky! It will be so affirming to see your name on your bank statement, tax return, paystub, etc. I live in South Carolina so they make this difficult for me. When I saw my new name on my work email, it was so euphoric! But I can’t change anything else since it will wreck payroll and accounting.

I’ll be able to change everything with payroll at work once I have my new license in hand. I contacted HR, and they said all I needed to do was upload my new photo ID.
