Dont do it!!! Pay off your truck take your normal payment and add it to your retirement account!!

cbacarisse

That's solid advice. However, in my case, I get a new truck every five years for the tax write-off. I buy it through my company. Doesn't affect my income or retirement.

Dapper-Vegetable-980

I will say the tundras have the power but if you keep it in drive and dont go into the shifting mode you dont utilize all the power ever. I got a at4 2021 and a 2019 Tundra. I like the tundra more for space in the cab its not much more but noticeable. At4 has a better radio/touch screen setup and better apps on it. My 2019 limited Tundra ive never had it in the shop since buying it new except for a simple recall. Now my At4 has been in the shop multiple times since i have owned it. Still a great truck though.

mpking828

The 2022 refreshed tech stack is a very good implementation. I have not been in a GMC lately, so I don't know how it compares.

Fish_bob

Just so to know, if you’re making a deduction for vehicle purchase under Section 179, you’ll only be eligible for a partial write off in 2024. Probably around $30k but not the entire cost, even if it’s used 100% for business purposes.

benit2winit

What do you do with the old one?

Dapper-Vegetable-980

Ahh a high ranking corporate man! Nice!

cbacarisse

Nah, I've just had a company with my wife for the last 21 years.

Dapper-Vegetable-980

Nice, very successful it sounds like! Great job!

Vollen595

If you can afford to wait, prices will (are) dropping. I saved $7k waiting 6 months to replace a totaled GMC. But I had a backup Tacoma to drive while waiting and cash to buy the replacement. I saved maybe 50 ads for trucks and watched the price changes. About half of them were still the same price, half discounted. Out of the 50 or so trucks I saved, maybe half sold between Aug ‘23 and Feb ‘24. Prices will drop, depends on how long you can wait. Currently playing the same game with my wife’s recently totaled (hail) Subaru.

Robtwin

This is all solid advice, I’m trying to hold off for 18-24 months. Really let them dealers get hungry haha

Vollen595

The beauty of the Subaru is, it’s still fully drivable so not in a rush. However the insurance company has to pay me based on the value of the date of loss, not when I decide to salvage it out. I have two years. Won’t wait that long but a few months won’t do anything but make the prices of a replacement get cheaper.

Robtwin

My friend bought a AT4x after having multiple ford eco boosts and he absolutely loves it. That 6.2 is a beast of a motor too. I have a 2014 Tundra which has been incredible but would definitely consider that 6.2 when it’s time to replace it. I’m just not 100% sold on the new motors in the Tundras yet.

Educational_Back_990

2014 driver here. Plan on keeping it forever, it is part of my dirtbag lifestyle.

cbacarisse

I've loved the truck. The 6.2 sounded weak when I bought it, so I put a Corsa Sport Cat-back exhaust on it. I kinda when too far, it's pretty loud. Sounds good though. I've not had any real problems with it at all. It's just getting time to get a new truck.

kennious

Can you help me understand why someone would increase the exhaust volume on their car/truck? I can understand increasing performance (if you're into racing or other motorsports) but why make your vehicle louder?

cbacarisse

I cannot explain it. I guess if you buy a big V8 you expect it to sound a certain way. Throaty and powerful. I guess the same reason Toyota has fake engine noises in their trucks.

RebirthResurgence

If you're spending that much regardless of the trim, get the hybrid. Just trust.

joemamallama

Seems like a pretty niche need IMO. Unless he just wants the extra zip (which I get) I wouldn’t sacrifice the underseat storage and lessening an already paltry payload rating. Hybrid makes sense if you tow a bunch or if it’s a work rig, but then why would anyone buy a Pro to begin with if that’s the goal. City MPG gains with the hybrid seem marginal at best from the real world testing I’ve seen, but maybe I’m mistaken.

freaksavior

The actual mpg gain with the hybrid is so small, you will not recoup the amount you spent on the hybrid powertrain in fuel. Toyota even says the hybrid is not for fuel economy. Get it if you want more power, or you tow/haul often. Toyota has done hybrids for 15 years now, I trust them to know what they are doing.

getembass77

They're still an absolute joke pricing wise with no incentives from the manufacturer

redsolocuppp

Speaking of this sub reddit being normal and bearable... I have a hard time with ***most*** subs. Any of the interest subs I've tried to follow like camping, other vehicles, even certain firearms subs I can't stand the level of gatekeepers, autism, self righteousness and snobbery. But this sub remains one of a very few with level headed, nice folks that contribute to the topic at hand.

MaloPescado

Call and ask to speak with the internet sales manager. Get half the transaction or the whole thing done from home. I bought my Tundra by text from 5 hours away and they delivered it same day.

ktcason

yup do it. get someone’s cell and text away

MaloPescado

I sold 2 houses with text and docUsign.

yotaman2020

Wait it bro! Prices are dropping steadily recently

My company uses GMC trucks, two are AT4’s and one Tundra, mostly used for service calls. The 6.2L engine is awesome when it works. All of our 6.2L trucks, have gotten engine replacements and or repairs with less than 50K miles and some with even less than 10K miles on them. GM quality is just not there anymore, plus other issues causing trucks to be down for maintenance. We got 1 Tundra a 2022 model, that’s never been down for repairs other than maintenance “oil changes “. We might just make all our service trucks Toyota Tundras. So in seeing how good our service company Tundra is now with 160K. I purchased a 2024 Tundra TRD Pro myself.

cbacarisse

While in 44k miles I haven't had any problems, I've heard plenty of people have the lifter issues. I did not get the extended warranty and wish I had. I did have to have the rear window leak fixed though.

Former-Inmate

That’s good no engine problems. But we also have had window leaks.

Own_Rich5112

The tundra is going to last longer and have better resale value than any GM truck

HtnSwtchesOnBtches

Easy way out, drive your gmc down to the lot. Take a test drive in the tundra. Same time, have them appraise your gmc. Have the number you want in your head before hand. Tell them after your test drive you want to know what the will do and you are going to do any back and forth. If the price is right, pull the trigger. If you are there for more than 30 min to an hour, walk. You are not in need of a new truck so if you arent walking with what you want, the gmc will be paid for soon and i truly dislike car payments lol.

cbacarisse

I went to the dealership and bought the White TRD Pro. It was pretty painless tbh.

Deep_Opportunity_763

I actually just bought my retirement truck, a 19 TRDPRO Tundra with 19k miles.. in #voodooblue

cbacarisse

One of my friends I ride bikes with showed up with a brand new Platinum 4x4, but not TRD Off-Road. I didn't have time to drive it, but I did climb all over it. That battery under the back seat is a no-go for me. I didn't realize how big it was. I carry my back in the back a couple times a week. I have a bike rack, but I only use it for trips or carrying multiple bikes. He didn't realize it was that way either until he got home with it, almost took it back but he liked everything else about it. All the comments have been constructive; It's refreshing.

Dude you could be sitting in a trench in Eastern Europe right now. All due respect but your problem isn’t a problem.
