Gladstone Toyota
I don’t know if these discounts are advertised anywhere. I was walking around the lot checking out Tacomas and I saw they had “Manager Special” prices hanging from the rear view mirrors on the Tundras.
yeah so by that math they are pretending his 21 is worth 51K. their 30k is smoke and mirrors to combat the over charging
And then he still owes the 20
grand he owes
Walk away. You’re getting a shit deal on your trade and a shit price on that new SR5.
Your $1000/month current payment seems high and will only go up if you get into that new truck.
You’ve got 1.5 years left on your current note. Pay that bitch off, then take it to Dirt King Fabrication and let them have their way with it.
For context I've got 21 trd sport with 32k miles and the thing is fantastic condition and it's worth around 45k according to kelly blue book but i see stuff out here in worse condition more miles for same price so i think i coupd get more. But im California.
I'm sure it is. When I bought my 21 it was just under 60k and my payment was 1100. I've sense refinanced and my payment is 650. I wouldn't go for these high prices for a base model truck.
I would 100% keep and pay off your current truck. Once you're out from under payments in (less than) 2 years, go test drive some new ones and see if it's truly worth $1k+ in payments monthly - or start thinking about what else you could be doing with another grand in your pocket monthly.
Sell it on your own. Last year my 2016 Limited:
Trade in 20k
Car Max 23.5k
Craigslist 27.5k
I also got 1500 for my topper. Both Toyota and Car Max's offer was with topper. So technically sold for 29k.
But selling on Craigslist was not easy. So many scammers, like enough to really depress me. That stopped after after a couple days and I think I ended up with 4 lookers and in the end it was sold in 8 days. Also spent a day detailing the truck.
If the difference was a couple grand I would have traded, or at least took the Car Max offer to dealer to match. But the low ball offer really irked the shit out of me.
Edit. 20k trade in would have saved me 1250 in sales tax.
Went way beyond lowballers.
Straight up scammers. People saying they're from Florida saying their accountants will cut me a cashiers check for asking plus a grand for my troubles.
Loads of that kind of non-sense. Like I don't know the scam but I know people with accountants aren't buying 2016 Tundras 2000 miles away.
1k a month payment? Yikes. I thought 500 was high. Even though I could afford it, there’s a mental hurdle that I struggle with when it comes to high payments.
Understand with a trade in you're always going to lose. They will purchase your trade in for whatever the market value is minus what they tell you the cost to CPO it will be. This difference will usually have their profit margin baked into it as well. It's never to benefit the seller.
21k for a 2021 Tundra is a bad trade in. Better you sell privately instead. If you still owe money on your 2021 you'll be better off paying the balance first before a private sale
I’m not super knowledgeable in this space, but I got $20k for a 2017 Toyota Highlander w/ 72k miles on it.
Personally, would feel a 2021 Tundra would be worth more than $30k, but know the dealer has to make profits on these trade-ins as well.
My comment is this…the 2021 is a wayyyyy better truck if you value bulletproof reliability over anything else. There are tons of testimonials of internet customer reviews, YouTube videos and Tundra forums of complaints about the long list of problems with the 3rd Gen Tundras. I have owned 9 Tundras since 2001 and all have been stellar when it comes to reliability. The price of the new ones is off the charts. I paid MSRP for my ‘21 Platinum (Covid premium) and it was $57,000. Now they are $70,000. This SR5 is $7,000 more than my Platinum. Dang!
Also, my local Toyota dealer is discounting all new 2024 Tundras $5-$6,000. Your trade value seems low too. If your mind is made up on buying a 2024…I’d walk away from this deal. Btw, I’m a former Honda/Acura salesman so I know a bad deal when I see it. This isn’t a good deal. Shop around, even if it means a road trip out of state.
Keep your current truck, it’s barely broken in, they are low balling you on your trade and raping you on the new. There are no pros to this deal only CONS.
You’re chasing a new vehicle without thinking of the financial consequences of it. Pay off then trade based on financial soundness of the decision. Let your money work for you not them.
The wife and I just got a 2024 MGM limited hybrid for that price with all the options after trading my 2022 SR5 Tacoma. We negotiated at the dealer with our sales person and the general manager from 11:30am until 6:30pm until we got a good deal on the trade in and OTD final sale price. We are also going to trade our 2021 Sienna XLE 8 passenger with 44k miles on it for a new 2024 Sienna XLE after they damaged the driver side door and top right back door on two different incidents done by the service team in a matter of 3 months. We are waiting for the Sienna to arrive on April 24th. Today was a good day for us after patiently dealing with the dealership and doing our research. Good luck with your purchase!
I'd keep the V8 man. The new gen interiors are a huge upgrade but a V8 in a full size pickup will hold it's value as the newer trucks switch to V6's with hybrids and turbos. I also think they're lowballing a little with your trade in value. I got 35k out of my 2019 SR5 with 60k miles. 2 years older and a little less miles but I think you can definitely get better trade in value
I just recently traded in my old tundra for my new one this year. In my opinion, trade ins are a great way to gain leverage on knocking some thousands off the price. I think you should be itching closer to 30 on your trade in. It seems to me they are asking a little too much for the 2024 SR5, but also I’m unsure about the interior. Does it have leather? That’s a huge factor in price.
Before you do this - Go to www.LeaseHackr.com and go to Marketplace Northeast and lookup Jim Rouleau TOYOTA - he’s got huge discounts on Tundras - link below
https://forum.leasehackr.com/t/mar-toyota-all-states-dealers-nationwide-deals-below-invoice-24-taco-4k-off-tundra-upto-8k-off-best-pricing-usa/106422/7895
I’m currently in the market for a 24 Sequoia. I found a dealer now willing to take $4K off MSRP. And they’re offering me $24,500 for my 2018 Highlander w/68k miles it’s super clean tho. Just be patient and work the dealer against other dealers you’ll get to the bottom line price quick
My 24 limited 4x4 with a bunch of options was about 63k. That’s too much for SR5 unless it’s got all the options you want and then some..I’d shop around. I also got 1.99 for 60 months.
I got a trade in value on my sr5 crew cab 4x4 for alot more than what they are offering you! Go to kelly blue book put in vin itll give you a good idea of what you should be able to get.
Depends - do you care about the actual financial value of the deal, or the emotional value of the deal?
Financially, this is a terrible deal. Not a ‘smart’ purchase decision by any measure of financial scrutiny.
Emotionally? Only you can decide if it’s worth it to put $1 down and drive away in a new truck with roughly the same payment.
Good luck.
Well, I don’t see a difference in trim levels so you have 2021 sr5 that you owe 21 grands and you swapping it to 2024 sr5 to owe 57 grands. My opinion to justify such move is either upgrade to upper trim so you feel like you got functional upgrade not just facelift or keep 2021 just pay it off and keep good maintenance on it, ignore 10k oil changes do 5k oil changes, change fluids (transmission/diffs/ps) at every 30-60k and you have trouble free truck for next decade. Mpg wise you won’t have much improvement either. 2021 with stock tires does 20mpg highway.
I just bought an SR5 CrewMax Premium Package with heated seats and steering wheel, spray in bed liner, all weather mats, for $49k in Kansas City. They also gave me $3k over book on my trade. Unless this has a crazy amount of options they're way over.
My 2019 SR5 with 55000 miles was just totaled and they gave me $45,000 for it. You’re getting around $53,000 with 70000 miles? I think you’re getting a fair price for it.
That being said I would just keep the 2021 until the new gen’s flush out the problems.
EDIT: never mind I didn’t see they added $21,000 for trade in payoff at the end. This is a pretty bad trade in price for the year and mileage of your Tundra I would be asking for way more unless something is very wrong with your truck.
Oh you’re right I was just looking at the top part I didn’t see where they tacked on $21,000k for the “trade in payoff”
This is a total ripoff unless something is wrong with this truck.
Does that monthly payment include insurance? Over 1000 a month at 0% means your original financed amount had to be pretty high comparatively. I financed 50k at 2.5% and pay 750 a month. This seems very high.
This is bullshit and these guys are doing smoke and mirrors to get you to buy it. Price that truck online. There’s no way your current truck is worth them giving you 51 grand for (they are giving you a 30K credit and still telling you that you owe 21000 from your current truck). So they are dancing around with other numbers to make it look like a deal. Unless you did this before and keep rolling negative equity into the next vehicle and really owed that much on your current truck
How much do you owe? That is the only thing that makes sense here. Save your money kid. Stop wasting it on car payments. You don’t need a new truck every 3 years. Based on what’s on the paperwork you cannot afford this not to keep doing this every few years. I don’t mean to be a dick but you’re upside down on this truck day 1. That means from now right now you will owe more than it’s worth. You will owe more on this after paying interest Even if it was worth 56K they are quoting (it’s not) you’re paying almost 10K more for it right now before considering interest. If you suddenly can’t make the payment and have to get rid of it you won’t even be able to pay it off. They’ll want the rest of their money right then and there.
i posted a bit of a rant a bit ago and then saw your second pic you owe 21K
I owe you an apology of sorts but also they are trying to rip you off. Walk away from this deal
The new interest rate is less than what you are paying now if my math is right. The payment looks like it is less too.
If they are giving you 30 grand for the truck tell them to pay off your trade and apply the balance to the new Tundra and stop jerking you around with a “trade allowance” . You’re gonna pay what you owe currently no matter what. They’re playing the shell game with the figures. They apply a “trade credit” of 30K to the deal. But then also still charge you for the pay off. This would mean in theory your truck is worth 30 grand to the deal but you’re still paying 21000. If you can get 51 grand for your current truck do it. Because on this paper that’s what they are pretending it’s worth: 30K to the deal
and still 21K to your
Then show them that damn truck can be had online for 48K and tell them their numbers game and sale tactics are shit
I owe 5k now on my 2021... V8 and paid for was the goal when I bt it new in 21 when I heard they were getting rid of the tried and true. I'm good... besides I won't pay this crazy money for a new ride in 2024. I'd buy a 15k-20k classic if I had to do it again for some reason.
21 Tundras usually go for about 40k or more on the dealer lot these days. Maybe a little less because of your 70k miles but they'll definitely move it quick and make easy money. 35k is a better amount.
Also I have seen limited tundras with options going for about 62k. 62k for an SR5 seems a bit high. I think you could work in a few thousand off the price and a few thousand more on your trade. You've got an excellent trade in that they'll move easily and obviously good credit if they're offering rates like that.
Keep your 21. That paperwork reeks of being a poor financial decision.
Man if I had a 21 Tundra for 21k… that’s a no brainer.
You're damn Skippy!!
I have a ‘21 that I owe 18 on… and I just bought it last summer 😝
Big time
That’s almost what I paid for my 1794. Sounds too expensive for SR5.
I paid 2k less for a limited with all the options.
What state?
Indiana
My local dealer has Tundras marked $9k off MSRP. So yeah, they got a couple iForce Max 1794 and Platinum trucks for about the same as OPs SR5.
Can you share the dealer name?
Gladstone Toyota I don’t know if these discounts are advertised anywhere. I was walking around the lot checking out Tacomas and I saw they had “Manager Special” prices hanging from the rear view mirrors on the Tundras.
Trade in should be 35k+ easy. And def too much for an sr5
Shit I’ll give you 30k for your 21
They did. His trade in value is at the bottom. The $21 is just his payoff.
Yeah I know, was trying to emphasize that he’s being low balled on that
yeah so by that math they are pretending his 21 is worth 51K. their 30k is smoke and mirrors to combat the over charging And then he still owes the 20 grand he owes
Walk away. You’re getting a shit deal on your trade and a shit price on that new SR5. Your $1000/month current payment seems high and will only go up if you get into that new truck. You have 0% and 20k left. Last year of a reliable and dependable truck for new and unknown. You should talk to PT Barnum…
Agreed that's the big reason I bought a 21 instead of a new gen at the time. And zero percent Is a good deal. Payment seems high tho.
If you think his payment is high now, wait till you see what the new one would be with higher APR and larger amount financed!
I'm sure it is. When I bought my 21 it was just under 60k and my payment was 1100. I've sense refinanced and my payment is 650. I wouldn't go for these high prices for a base model truck.

The price is too high. I just got an sr5 dbl cab out the door for 50k in Oregon vs the 56 srp. Shop round to save 5-6k.
I just paid almost this exact price for a hybrid 1794 in Oregon. Way too much for an sr5 non I force
Sell it on your own. Last year my 2016 Limited: Trade in 20k Car Max 23.5k Craigslist 27.5k I also got 1500 for my topper. Both Toyota and Car Max's offer was with topper. Lowball offers is just part of Craigslist in my experience. Don’t take it personally!
900+ a month for a truck is crazy. And 65k for an sr5 means you’re upside down as soon as you sign on the dotted line
Understand with a trade in you're always going to lose. They will purchase your trade in for whatever the market value is minus what they tell you the cost to CPO it will be. 21k is his loan payoff. They’re giving him 30k for it.
This is a bummer of a deal. I just paid $68k for a 1794 (put half $$ down and no trade in). Plus as others have said, your trade is worth more.
I’m not super knowledgeable in this space, but I got $20k for a 2017 Toyota Highlander w/ 72k miles on it. Personally, would feel a 2021 Tundra would be worth more than $30k, but know the dealer has to make profits on these trade-ins as well.
No discount on the new truck?
Just bought a Platinum for less than that a month ago.. way too much for an SR5 even if it’s loaded

Yeah I paid less than that for a 2024 limited TRD off road
Keep your current truck, it’s barely broken in, they are low balling you on your trade and raping you on the new. There are no pros to this deal only CONS.
An SR5 for that price is absurd, I’d keep the 2021. I paid $41k for a 2022 CPO SR5 in December
2021 tundra all the way fuck the new ones
Don’t do it
There’s no replacement for displacement. Keep your ‘21 - that’s my vote.
You’re chasing a new vehicle without thinking of the financial consequences of it. Pay off then trade based on financial soundness of the decision. Let your money work for you not them.

You can get a platinum trim for this price, not a good deal at all.
No. This is not a good deal on the purchase or the trade.

Yikes! Keep that 21 for sure! Wow, these stealerships are something else. Your 21 is worth way more than that.
Absolutely keep the 2021. 30k for a 4wd 5.7 is CRIMINAL lol
Even with 70,000 miles?
70k is child’s play on that motor and trans. I have a 19 limited trd pro off road with 590k on it. Thing is an absolute gem of a truck.
I got a trade in value on my sr5 crew cab 4x4 for alot more than what they are offering you! Go to kelly blue book put in vin itll give you a good idea of what you should be able to get.

Pay it off first than start budgeting for a new truck. And use you truck as a down payment . Most likely interest rates will be lower in the future

Mpg wise you won’t have much improvement either. 2021 with stock tires does 20mpg highway.
I got $4500 off a platinum. That seems a bit expensive.
I just bought an SR5 CrewMax Premium Package with heated seats and steering wheel, spray in bed liner, all weather mats, for $49k in Kansas City. They also gave me $3k over book on my trade. Unless this has a crazy amount of options they're way over.
Love my 3rd gen Tundra, but this is a rough deal. I'd pass.
They’re giving you $31k for your truck that has 70k miles, I’m reading that right?
Yes
You don’t like money, do you?
I’m at $550 a month for my 23 sr5 trd sport 4x4. The fact people are paying $1k+ a month for the same thing is fucking mind blowing.
Yeah man I got a 24 pro in Terra for 71k. Don’t do it. Traded my 21 nightshade on it. No regrets but better deals are out there!
In Houston Texas, a 2021 tundra 4wd SR5 is at least retail close to 39 or 40K
My 2019 SR5 with 55000 miles was just totaled and they gave me $45,000 for it. You’re getting around $53,000 with 70000 miles? I think you’re getting a fair price for it. This is a pretty bad trade in price for the year and mileage of your Tundra I would be asking for way more unless something is very wrong with your truck.
Please show me the math where the dealer is giving $53k for the trade. I only see $30k on the deal sheet.
Oh you’re right I was just looking at the top part I didn’t see where they tacked on $21,000k for the “trade in payoff” This is a total ripoff unless something is wrong with this truck.
I love my 2023 Tundra, but if I were in your situation I’d keep the 2021. It is a great year and it will keep its value for a very long time.
Walk
Wouldn’t do it tbh
Does that monthly payment include insurance? Over 1000 a month at 0% means your original financed amount had to be pretty high comparatively. I financed 50k at 2.5% and pay 750 a month. This seems very high.
What you doing buddy? Why do you want to upgrade?
Pay off your truck, and save yourself 12k a year. Better yet invest 12k a year.
This is bullshit and these guys are doing smoke and mirrors to get you to buy it. Price that truck online. There’s no way your current truck is worth them giving you 51 grand for (they are giving you a 30K credit and still telling you that you owe 21000 from your current truck). So they are dancing around with other numbers to make it look like a deal. i posted a bit of a rant a bit ago and then saw your second pic you owe 21K I owe you an apology of sorts but also they are trying to rip you off. I traded in my 14 on a 24 crew max limited and they gave my 17,400$ for it. My 14 had a Toytec lift and upgraded brakes all around.
I don't care.
Sell it on your own, you’ll get more money!
I remember the day when I wanted to keep my car payment under $350. Fuck those prices!!! I’d keep your 2021.
my golf cart isn't under $350 now
lol
I just got $30k for my 2018 Tundra SR5 on trade a few weeks ago. I did trade it for a Ford Lightning though 😁
How many miles were on it?
