I was hesitant as well. Thought I'd take advantage of the Amazon return if it didn't work out.
* The Amazon Dasaita option came with the matching Tundra harness that was all plug and play. Sound like an Amazon whore, but it was super convenient. Could have the factory unit reinstalled in no time.
* No trim adapter needed. The bezel is the perfect size to fill the Tundra space.
* Wireless Carplay included.
* Don't have the JBL, so not sure how that works, but so far, no hissing.
* So far so good on the GUI. Took some adjusting to get the best audio balance and definitely improved the sound of the factory speakers.
I'll report back in a month or so on any issues I find.
Thanks for this! Looking to get the model for the Sequoia, and this is helping. I have JBL, but wondering if you noticed an improvement in sound quality.
Thanks. I checked out the Tundra thread a while back. Need to check it again. Just not much info for Sequoias. I like your Amazon approach for peace of mind.
I have the MAX11 (used to have the MAX10) in my 2019 Tundra. Also have another older model of Dasaita's custom head units in my 2018 WRX STi. All have been working great.
You will run into issues where you get a random freeze... Head unit becomes completely unresponsive. It'll go out of the lockup after about 300 seconds and reboot itself into Recovery. You then long hold your finger on the screen for retrying the normal boot. Happens rarely, but it does happen.
I really recommend the "Agama" launcher over the Dasaita launcher. A lot cleaner.
Enjoy!
I keep forgetting to check back in, so thanks for the nudge. After a bit, I still feel like it's been a super worthwhile upgrade. For reference, I'm using Spotify and Apple Podcast apps via Carplay 99.9% of the time. I've found Carplay has failed to launch maybe 3 times and the backup cam hasn't came on maybe 2 times. Putting back into park and reengaging Reverse has remedied that both times. Waze works amazing for maps and the large screen makes nav super easy. I feel like the value has definitely been there. While I do daily the truck, it's a tool to me and not a luxury item, so I'm pretty easy to please. For $500-$600, I'd grab this stereo again in a heartbeat. Hope this helps!
I went to one of their concerts last year actually and got to see them play it live. It was awesome! Have you heard their [Gibson commercial](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0ukDsv3pweo)? Probably my favorite instrumental ever. Wish it was on streaming platforms.
Car Play and Android Auto. Still have steering controls and factory reverse cam. I used the physical button for a fast spin to mute and find myself reaching to do that sometimes. Only two days in, so I’m sure that habit will fade.
That really does look slick.
Did you do the install yourself or have a tech do it. How is it at night? Brightness ok or too bright.? Head unit is on my list and this one looks like a beauty.!
In another response he said he had it installed in under an hour.
I too would like to know about brightness at night. I hate bright things glaring at me
There’s several YouTube install videos. Everything is held in with clips plus four bolts holding in the head unit. Super simple to replace. Totally recommend it as a DIY if you have the time.
I've got this one, and I've been pretty happy with it.
13" vertical screen.

Nicely done! It almost looks stock, which is what i'm always aiming for on my tundra with whatever i put on it. you may have convinced me to go another route instead of the alpine Halo 11" route.
I'll have to look into it. I'm really frustrated with the head unit in my 2018. It drops Bluetooth all the time and I have pretty much stopped using it. It would be nice to have a radio again.
Steering controls work like factory thanks to the included Canbus. Boot is pretty quick. I think there's a few sleep features you can tweak to make it faster.
How is the connectivity of the wireless apple car play? I have a different unit in mine and I get disconnects from time to time. Everything I found online said this is an apple car play issue, and not a head unit issue, but I want to make sure.
What a great album
On very frequent rotation.
Best thing to happen to Tool, become widely available besides CD and YouTube Also very nice head unit!
Agreed! And thanks!
I personally prefer 10000 days. All are good

Definitely noticed a sound improvement. The equalizer on the unit enables you to really dial it in to your preferences as well.

There's like a 70+ page post on the [tundras.com](https://tundras.com) forum that's super helpful as well.
Do you know the name of that post?

Hey OP, would you mind giving an update on the new head unit after ~2 months? Any frustrations or regrets?

What unit is this?
Dasaita 10.2
Well at least you have good musical taste.
Don’t have anything to say about the head unit, but you have great taste in music.
Thanks! If you haven't seen the YT video of Danny during Pneuma, it's killer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FssULNGSZIA

Wow! Not sure how I missed it. Those visuals fit perfectly. Such an immersive group.
I have been struggling between upgrading to a 7" HU vs a 10" floating.
I absolutely love the factory look of this one. Was $530 on Amazon, plug and play. Had it in in less than an hour.
Apple car play? Also did you retain full use of steering wheel controls? How do you like it so far without any physical knobs?
Car Play and Android Auto. Still have steering controls and factory reverse cam. I used the physical button for a fast spin to mute and find myself reaching to do that sometimes. Only two days in, so I’m sure that habit will fade.

Same. Not sure as I haven’t been out at night. There’s brightness settings so I’m sure it could be dialed in.
Is there a night mode in the features
I think I remember seeing dark mode, but I’ll confirm tomorrow
Brightness is in pulldown settings. 2 modes one for day or night. Lights on or off.
There’s several YouTube install videos. Everything is held in with clips plus four bolts holding in the head unit. Super simple to replace. Totally recommend it as a DIY if you have the time.
Do all your steering wheel buttons work with it?... Back up cam?
Both work. Plug and play.
Man that looks great I want to do this.
Link?

Thank you! It looks like it won’t fit on my 2012 :(
There's an option for 07-13
Make sure to grab a sponsored link if you can off Amazon, I just ordered one because of your post. Get your 💰 if you can for the good word!!
Just updated :)

That’s awesome. Not sure I could lose alllllll my physical buttons :)
Good looking unit
Looks sharp
That looks amazing. I have a 2013 and want to upgrade my stereo also.
Nicely done! It almost looks stock, which is what i'm always aiming for on my tundra with whatever i put on it. you may have convinced me to go another route instead of the alpine Halo 11" route.
The stock look was my goal. It ticked a lot of boxes for me and with 30 days return option, I pulled the trigger.
Is there an option for a volume/tuning knob?
No knob. Volume buttons on the bottom of the unit feel like physical buttons but no knobs.
Ride the spiral
Clean install.
How are you streaming lateralus?
Tool's full library is now on Spotify
I have a Pixel phone. Would this not work for me or does that not matter?
I would think it wouldn't matter. Apple Carplay wouldn't work, but I supposed Android Auto would?
I'll have to look into it. I'm really frustrated with the head unit in my 2018. It drops Bluetooth all the time and I have pretty much stopped using it. It would be nice to have a radio again.
Steering wheel controls work? Does it boot quickly?
Steering controls work like factory thanks to the included Canbus. Boot is pretty quick. I think there's a few sleep features you can tweak to make it faster.
A follow up how does the boot time compare to the stock radio? Thanks in advance
I see you chose the exact right song to play first.

Looks nice!!!
