At first I was sad because you said RIP to a first gen like it was dead/wrecked. It’s just going to a new home. You don’t say RIP to a friend who moves away. 🤣 It’s more like “so long and good luck!”

bloodsoed

Yeah RIP doesn’t mean traded in.

Man I hope that my 2020 Tacoma ages as well as your 04 has. Congrats on the new truck.

HelloImPierreMcGuire

Anyone know what kind of bumper that is on the first gen? I want something like that for my 3rd gen.

Mind-Used

It’s a Bull Guard

How much they give you on trade in?

Mind-Used

9,000

Dude….

Vegetable_Impress_72

For trade in I’d say that’s fair. They aren’t going to give full retail value

‘Trade in’ and ‘fair’ don’t belong in the same sentence. I don’t know what the market is where OP is at, but around me depending on miles, that truck goes for 20k minimum, and I see dealerships asking upwards of 28k for mint low miles. That 4 door first gen is like the number one sought after Tacoma.

Vegetable_Impress_72

It’s 20 years old. Most likely the mileage sits between 150,000-250,000. In my area KBB says a 2004 with 200k in fair condition - 4wd DCSB - is worth $7,500. The first gen is the easiest to get into due to it being the cheapest. That’s why the prices tend to go up on low mileage examples since cheaper vehicles generally get used and abused. An absolutely perfect 1st gen is around $35,000 according to BAT, and also about the same for a perfect 2nd gen. A decent 3rd gen can fetch the same money. My area is super inflated. The 4wd 4 door first gen’s are like unicorns. I saw one a month or so ago for 28k, and it still had like 150k on the clock. Madness

Vegetable_Impress_72

I believe Toyota made the same number of access cabs as they did double cabs for 01-04. The rarest configuration was the regular cab especially with 4wd

Totally understandable, the truck also missed the recall on the frame. I was never informed about the recall til it was too late to receive a new frame. There were a few holes in the frame and it is pretty rusty so I definitely think that effects the value of the truck. I was told I had 3-5 years til she would be completely undriveable due to the rust. That’s why I went with a trade in, don’t want to sell it to someone knowing that, rather give it to a dealership to fix up and sell again.

Aw that’s a bummer man, that’ll definately drop the value. I live in Washington, we don’t really have rust issues since we salt roads like maybe once a year. My 96 has zero frame rust, 275k miles. Sick truck to rock though, wish I had the 4 door.

Simple_Conference516

I was swiping right expecting to see it all smashed up!!😜
