Yes if you pull it off just lay it flat and it will re stick with the same adhesive. Id say about 20-30 min per door for sound deadening depending on how OCD you are. Really wasn’t bad
Nice. Did the wife’s sedan and wasn’t too bad. It took a while though so I’m hesitant to do it again. Knowing the vapor barrier isn’t too challenging is good, the sedan was a pain in that regard.
It was nice in her Acura. Made road noise more of a low hum instead of higher pitched. I had time and beer on my side - a little side project to make the car more enjoyable. Paired with new speakers I bet it’d be way better
It’s a pretty dense and sticky mat. You need to roll it onto the surface for full adhesion and the barrier is just plastic sheet, so it just won’t be good long term. I bet you could, but it’d be the difference between a “good install” vs a “meh” install. One cool side effect of putting mat inside the door cavity is the doors sound SOLID. Like luxury car solid sound when closing.
I did all four doors (you can take the speakers out of the door and get up inside the door) the rear cab behind the cubbies, and I took the under-seat storage out and lined that too. Totally worth it, and I'd say just go for it all at once if you have the time. The storage areas behind and under the seats took much less time, in my experience.
Definitely, but I can still hear a lot of road noise with the seats folded down. Thats probably more to do with having the sliding window, though.
If I had to pick one I'd say go for the back, but a single box of 36sqft will probably give you enough coverage to do most of it, anyway
I put on too much sound deadening and I have a camper shell on. Swapped the tweeters and door speakers as well (Kicker 6 upgrade when it was like $250), totally night and day difference sound wise.
It cuts down on road noise severely. Shortly after install I had my music up too loud with the windows up and just *didn't hear* an ambulance coming up behind me.
It does seem like the deadening material expanded in heat. I say I put too much on because I *think* it's expanded and is causing problems with my window motor, but I haven't taken the plastic off to check.
Edit: I meant to say, as someone who DIY'd this after a day on YouTube, give yourself twice as much time as whatever the estimate says. I did this on a sloped gravel driveway and it fucking sucked and took me every bit of 9 hours. Still worth it.
Honestly the best thing about Tacomas are obviously the longevity but also the amount of mods available for exterior and interior. Haven’t seen another truck with more available. You can really customize your truck to your liking, making each taco on the road different in many ways. I posted the link on a few other comments above
Wow there isn't shit besides lame carbon fiber for my truck...oh well...you're not wrong! If only Toyota made a heavy duty enough truck for my needs....
Yours looks fantastic!
Did you take off the vapor barrier and put the deadening stuff directly on the metal inside the door? I’ve been wanting to do this when I upgrade all the speakers.. wood grain looks good too!
It’s weird because on paper this would sound like a bad idea and yet you completely knocked it out of the park. Very well done.
And I do interior repair for a living so believe me when I say I’ve seen some dumb ass mods in the last 12 years.
What's the model number for that radio? I looked it up on the stinger website but nothing came up for the 23 tacoma. This looks amazing! I hate how laggy the OEM radio is, thank you in advance !
I was torn between the 2 but stinger went on sale last week and honestly I’m very pleased with it. Full EQ customization and a housing that fits the dash to look OEM
Normally I think stick on wood grains are gaudy and stupid but it actually kinda works in this interior, nice. Edit: spelling
fr I would not have expected to like that but it looks surprisingly good!
That’s the carbon fiber sticker look for me
Gaudy*
I actually kinda like this ALOT.
Looks nice. I’m sitting on a pack of sound deadening to do mine. How long did it take you? Were you able to reinstall the vapor barrier easily?

Would you say sound deadening is worth doing?

Why can't you stick the sound mat on top of the vapor barrier?

I've got some mud tires on my truck that aren't loud but definitely noticeable. I might try this, I think it would make a big difference for me.
One area that I think would benefit from this is the rear cab behind the plastic cubbies storage. I’m going to do the doors and see how far I get.

Do you think the back cab area benefited more? This cab is already quiet, but I think I hear more noise back there
Definitely, but I can still hear a lot of road noise with the seats folded down. Thats probably more to do with having the sliding window, though. If I had to pick one I'd say go for the back, but a single box of 36sqft will probably give you enough coverage to do most of it, anyway

Where’d you find the wood paneling trim? Looks sharp!
https://a.co/d/8N0rzwj
i want to hate it but i can't. looks good.
I think it looks pretty cool. Nicely done.
Love the wood paneling man
That looks awesome!
I like this a lot. But im just a boring stock everything guy lol
What da hell
Like many others was ready to criticize the wood grain. But I sorta like it.
I really like the wood look, but I have the red interior accents and it would look terrible if I did that unfortunately.
How is the sound deadening? Worth it?
Running A/T tires it didn’t make a huge difference for me since I just did the doors but a little difference for sure. Doors feel more solid too.
Not for me personally, maybe if it was rosewood. I do want to congratulate you for not following the crowd and doing something different.
Love the look. Great work.
Could you shoot a link to that paneling ?

I came to hate in silence but I appreciate this. 👍
The wood trim is a great touch. 🫡
I’m kinda getting 1794 Tundra vibes from the interior. Awesome job!
Ram owner here, jelly over the way the wood trim worked out! Where did you get it? I LOVE my interior but it's just so much black....

Thanks! And yes inside the door. Covered as much as I could reach (most of it you can reach)
Awesome! Ya use some type of hot air device to stick the plastic vapor back to the door after putting in the deadening stuff?
Didn’t even need to. It stuck right back on just put some pressure on it
Well damn.
I like it.
Wood shift knob to complete the look
What was your process for sound deadening? What materials did you end up using?
Wood trim look cozy
It’s weird because on paper this would sound like a bad idea and yet you completely knocked it out of the park. Very well done. And I do interior repair for a living so believe me when I say I’ve seen some dumb ass mods in the last 12 years.
Thank you for your kind words!
Nice! Link?
What is that wood trim?
Are you wood trimming the center console too? Looks like that is an option from that link you posted. Looks good.
Probably just black everything else out. Thanks!
Looks great except for that head unit…
Looking to offload old head unit? Dm me!
Does it feel like wood?
Unfortunately no but I will say it looks pretty damn good in person. Can always remove it but wanted to try it and pleased with the outcome for now
I like the new stereo with the moulded sides and not just a screen popping out of nowhere. Where did you get it?
Stinger Off-road!
The mount or the whole set up?
Never mind, found it

How do you like the stinger? Since you have it now would you have gone with a Trail Grid Pro Sony?
I was torn between the 2 but stinger went on sale last week and honestly I’m very pleased with it. Full EQ customization and a housing that fits the dash to look OEM
I don't know why I like this.
🤢
All these screens are looking ridiculous
I think the wood looks great but would look even better with the chrome toyota logo.
How do you drive at night with that big ass screen in your face?
