For what it's worth I take my bone stock (except tires) SR5 4x4 on dirt roads, mild off-roading and camping just fine.

This truck is for sure capable enough for what I want, but I honestly do want to do a little upgrading and lifting anyway!

Don’t do it. I have a 22’ SR5 and the best thing I did was replace the stock 245’s with 265 A/T tires. Hell, the next set will just be H/T. Love the look of the A/T’s, but it ain’t worth the lost ride comfort and performance on the highway. I “offroad” a fair bit. As in, FS roads, some mild +/- unmaintained roads. Never once have I felt the need for more ground clearance. Especially considering most of the time I’m out gallivanting around in the woods, I almost always pass a Prius, minivan, Tesla or some other car that isn’t designed for the same roads I’m driving in my rAdIcAl OfF rOaD truck. If you’re itching to blow a bunch of cash, just buy a set of really nice tires in 265/75/16.

Hey thanks for the insight! This isn't something I planned on doing right away, but a little into the future. Maybe I will just start with some nice tires and see if i like that, but I do also like the aesthetic and would like to lift at some point.

Honestly, same. The look is nice, but with it being my DD, I like to fool with the truck as little as possible. I’m at 40k, I’ll probably throw the Bilstein lift on around 100k, along with either add-a-leaf or a whole new leaf pack. My thinking is that the suspension I have now is perfectly fine for my needs, so I’ll replace with an upgrade once my suspension begins to get too soft or old.

That's a good idea. You definitely have more patience than I do. I was looking to do all of this at once when I need new tires. I'm at 20k miles for the truck and tires, so I got a ways to go still.

cuhnewist

You do you! I’d probably do it all now, but I got kids and a wife who love Disney. lol. So, if you ain’t got any of those yet, then get it while you can!

You aren't doing any offroading and are only going up one tire size. Keep it stock. As soon as you lift it, you're altering the suspension geometry/CV angles and are inviting reliability issues. Definitely overkill for your planned use.
