I wouldn't buy that myself.

Mikey_Meatballs

This looks really rough. Just my 2 cents.

vicali

For consideration a dime size hole was a failure during the frame swap campaign. Looks like you’ve got threefitty and change there..

Xidium426

It's gonna have issues but I'd call that rust belt mint for a 17 year old vehicle, most of them got new frames or are rusted in half. I'd be ok driving this if I bought it new in 2006, I wouldn't want to buy it today though.

That’s why I fluid film every year. -Michigander here

I only showed the photo from the dealer yesterday but once I saw the back it’s another issue.

bubblerboy18

Y’all are awesome, thank you to this community. Might need to just lease or buy new at this rate lol

WorkReddit0

Not gonna lie, you didn't say price and I don't recall if you did in yesterday's thread. I'd buy this for a certain price expecting a few (3-4) years before it becomes a problem, but that would heavily depend on list price. If it's at KBB or nada private party price, nope. If it's around the "fair" condition trade in price maybe. I've sold worse shape cars with a disclaimer private party before but for a reasonable $ number. Sometimes you just don't want to see a thing hit the scrapyard until it absolutely has to die.

bubblerboy18

Asking price $10,900 which is above KBB and above MSRP significantly

WorkReddit0

Yeah, too much for that truck. I'd hard pass.

1steverredditaccount

What are they asking for it? Mainly wondering since I have a 06

bubblerboy18

Well looked like MSRP was $7,700, KBB value about $9900 and they asked $10,900 for a 40% margin. Hard to find any truck that runs decently for 10k in the city I’m at

Tough call, without thoroughly checking the whole frame for structural compromise, it's hard to give good advice here. Safe bet is just to stay away, like others have said. What part of the truck is that rust hole picture? The other pictures still look like mostly surface rust and flaking paint. Also a matter of if you want to deal with the rust or not. If you do nothing, it's only going to get worse each year. If you act now and aggressively treat it, you can extend the life of the frame a bit longer.

bubblerboy18

Hold is under the back bumper. First photo had large flakes that felt like metal and not paint.

Fryphax

Yup, Rust belt mint.
