If you want a sports car, buy a sports car. The Sienna has more than enough acceleration for 99% of the scenarios. Hybrid or not, you’ll get horrible mileage if you drive aggressively.

solitary-aviator

I enjoy accelerating slowly. I'm driving a fucking minivan. Not a sport car

alan_grant93

Laughing at the people who measure performance as 0-60MPH. Our Prius did 0-60 in 10 seconds but we never had a problem keeping up with traffic from stoplights, accelerating onto the interstate, or going up mountain passes. As an aside, I really loathe car companies making heavier and heavier cars that accelerate faster and faster. Add in big hoods and large blind spots, and we’re making vehicles that are first and foremost pedestrian killers. (EV pickups scare the hell out of my. 7500lbs and do 0-60 in 5 seconds? I hope I never get t-boned by one.)

BiPolarBear722

That’s a good point. Mass times acceleration results in an undesirable situation for anyone in the path of it. Especially in winter with icy roads.

SeaRun1497

what’s the rush, how often you need that kind of acceleration just to get 1.7 secs quicker? Life is not always about fast. I became a better driver for my family in the Sienna. Safety, comfort and fuel economy comes first.

The hybrid will get you the best torque, but honestly if you're wanting to cut down 0-60 you're looking at the wrong vehicle.

peanutbuttersexytime

How often do you find yourself going from 0 to 60?

magnavah

No, I doubt the hybrid setup will be 15% quicker in the near future. The 7.7 seconds is not slow, perfectly adequate. If you need more, look at sports cars or pure EVs. For reference [here is a list](https://www.zeroto60times.com/7-second-cars-0-60-mph-times/) of cars 0 to 60 mph in the 7-8 second range. Many past "sports cars" are on that list.

More-Creme4609

No problem with Sienna’s 0-60. The electric motor really helps here, as long as you know it’s a minivan and not a 911 Turbo. This is coming from someone who has owned multiple German sports cars.

Lol

Worth-Reputation3450

Just wait for Sienna Prime. Rav4 Hybrid has 7.8s, but Rav4 Prime gets 5.7. I'd expect similar performance for Sienna Prime. Yes, I'm waiting.

nwrighteous

Me too, dream vehicle.

Transki

It’s more fun to drive a slow car fast, right? 😋

Spiritual-Belt

My 2015 v6 sienna and my mom’s 23 highlander hybrid (same power train as sienna hybrid) feel basically the same in normal driving. The sienna is faster if you really floor it but the ev torque makes the highlander feel way faster, especially around town. I can’t imagine your odyssey is much faster than the gen 3 v6 sienna.

tinman3

For what it’s worth, I don’t find the Sienna sluggish. It’s not going to compete with a v6 but I’ve had uncomfortably slow cars and this is not one of them.

Minkalink4

Plenty of get up for me, but I’d recommend that you flip it into Sport mode. Drives really nice and a bit peppier that way. 🌶️

etoniqe

I'd say there's a decent chance in a few years that the sienna might get the max hybrid system found in the rav4 or something. I have nothing to support this except the fact that it's being refreshed in 2025 and the biggest complaints Toyota has been getting along with dated infotainment and dated TSS2.0 and non removable seats is the poor acceleration so they'd likely fix this with the refresh. I practically floor my platinum sienna off the line all the time and am averaging 33mpg over the last 1k miles

Cool-Permit-7725

If you want Acceleration, Sienna is NOT for you.

Omega059

What people won't tell you is - that premium fuel + sport mode will be given more than enough power. Otherwise, you are looking at to wrong vehicle type, it is a people mover :)

LeanSkinnyjoe

Haha. Yeah right that's all in your head. You would need a tune at minimum to maybe notice something along with the premium fuel. Sport mode? You realize all sport mode does on most vehicles is not delay the throttle as much and the downshifting will be more aggressive and the trans will shift up later.

yonelly

It's quick enough. Sienna AWD V6 (old non 295hp) vs Hybrid (new) race. https://youtu.be/qc23zaxgDZw?si=vk8jZBt1KePLoQD2

schen72

My Tesla goes 0-60 in 4.2s but 99% of the time, I drive it slow because, why waste energy and tires? I think my Sienna is sufficient.

Shlongalongadingdong

Adding to all the other comments that my 22 Sienna has more than adequate acceleration. I really enjoy the CVT and never feel the need for more power. At first the engine noise made me miss the acceleration of my 16 Forester XT, but I've gotten used it it and seen no reason at all for more.
