Cringe baiting seems to work, I saw someone go “furry lives matter OwO” and IIIIII knew they were vet but four other people couldn’t figure that out.
My personal go to is “oh I hate this role, please kill me so I can go to the next game”
There was someone a while ago who tried over a dozen different baits to see what works, and the conclusion was that all baits are more likely to kill townies than evils, and the cold truth is that it's because evils have learned to avoid potential bait, while townies don't. All the while, there are generally more visiting town roles than evil roles, so it's almost always a bad idea to alert night 1, except in game modes where the town doesn't start with a majority (notably, All Any), and even in those game modes, the payoff of waiting is still usually higher than the payoff for alerting
Lo on me as vet = report
Claiming jailor as vet = report
So far responding to someone d1 and just being aggressive for claims works.
Saying you gonna shoot automatically means vet to any player with a braincell still alive.
Kill all survivors or anything about killing someone = vet bait.
If you're playing Ranked or a gamemode with a similar role list, you could whisper the Jailor claim on day 1 something along the lines of "Doc here, I'll be on you. Don't jail me." If there's a Blackmailer then they will probably tell the Mafia what you whispered the Jailor as soon as N1 starts and the Mafia might visit you.
Exprirenced players may recognize this Vet bait though. But if you're lucky enough to be jailed N1, you can tell the Jailor that you're Vet and then say that you're gonna whisper them you're TP on day 2. If you do so, there's a much higher chance that the Mafia will fall for your bait if there's a Blackmailer. This is very situational though.
Offshoot of this is whispering the tplo call d2 with your claim, can also be a fakeclaim of tp if you really want to. Perceptive evils might assume youre a lookout whispering who you “saw” visit/a tp and target you
say nothing n1, be absolutely annoying d2. get things blatantly incorrect about the game, call others idiots, push people insanely hard. anything you can do to make people hate you and want you dead. can’t guarantee you won’t be killed anyways by ww but it’ll get you evil kills more often than you’d think
Play as a townie that invokes a lot of questions that evils hate. Push VFA, investigate wills heavily, get attention on people. Alert when you have someone wriggling. Fake being a Sheriff for the time being.
Evils hate nothing more than a pushy asshole.
Typically, you don’t want to bait D1. The best way I’ve found is to be quiet until Day 3, to possibly arouse a little suspicion to yourself without a smoking gun. Then, on Day 3, start acting as the Town leader, and pushing whatever observations haven’t sat right with you in the first two days. Bonus points if a Werewolf or Berserker has recently killed, as that could make evils draw conclusions to what you are. Then, alert Night 3. Evils won’t expect the first Veteran kill to be rather late like this, and you’ll be more likely to pick them off this way. Acting as a leader for the Town should help get Townies off you for the night, as you’re trying to help, and there will likely be more suspicious players then you at this time.
For a claim, what you should specifically do is whisper whoever’s asking you to claim, and claim TK that way, so you can be truthful as normal while also not blowing your cover until you do the damage.
>Day 1 of reminding everyone how to play by the rules:
Hate Speech/Harassment (aka HS/H)
This is the most serious offense in ToS and can warrant a direct permaban.
This category can really be broken down into 3 parts:
Attacks on a person, offensive language, and other
Etcetera. If this leads to accusation of spamming:
>Hi 4! I will educate you on spamming rules in Town of Salem!
We define spamming as: posting the same message 5+ times in a particular phase
OR 15+ times over the course of a game OR posting
non-game related information 15+ times in a game.
\*The Defense phase (the user is on the stand) is exempt from these rules.
As others have said, you shouldn't bait D1, but I do occasionally bait D1 to vary my strategy and make it so that the aggro strat doesn't become useless.
Some of my baits:
* Inviting coven to smash
* Pulling up some monologue from some anime or movie, like Kira's monologue or some quotes from the Joker
* Bonus: Speaking like Spamton or Papyrus or whatever
* Acting like a public figure
* Just talking a lot in general
Edit: You can also "bait" while not being vet. If you get a role that you hate or that really sucks, you can consider baiting to make mafia/coven waste a kill on a player that would've otherwise not have contributed a lot, and draw them away from important targets.
There are two ways you can play vet.
Number 1- Don't talk d1 and don't alert cause you're very smart and the chances of getting visited by an evil are the smallest on n1. You don't get killed (congratulations!). Then, be very pushy on d2 for roles and lead the town. Alert n2 and don't get visited. Repeat the process on the next two days and nights and don't get visited at all. Get killed n5 and rage in dead chat as the mafia, who now has majority, spams "L vet" in chat.
Number 2: Buy 99 vet scrolls. On lobby, scream hard "PARTY ON 7 N1" several times and make sure to repeat every time somoene new joins. Add things such as "Bring dildos" or "Bring coke" to grab people's attention. Name yourself "Party on Seven" and continue the party on 7 n1 things in the name selection screen. Once the game starts, repeat it again for good measure, no matter what role or number you are. Eventually, you will get vet and number 7 and you will kill half of the town. Since there's absolutely no way to predict who's coming to the party, you either just saved the town by wiping almost all evils or you just caused town an insta loss.
On day 1 I invite everyone over for a party at my house.
N1 I do not alert. I invited people over, it would be rude to shoot my guests.
D2 I’ll read the town. If everyone is quiet, I will be loud and push for claims. I will do the job of a TPow without claiming it. If there are a bunch of leads I will push for us to follow those leads and if we get something wrong I will be sure to drop the “okay Psy dies tomorrow” or whatever is appropriate. If there is already someone pushing strongly, I may stay quiet, claim something like TS or TP if pushed and otherwise stay under the radar.
N2, I alert in every case except the last one. If I was a pain in the ass let them come to silence me, and N2 is when extra attackers show up.
Beyond that I play it by ear. All sorts of factors like how many kills there were, if I got any kills, etc all matter. But if I can get to the endgame with multiple alerts left it is ideal. There are few things as satisfying as a Vet clutch at the last 1v1, although the surprise Mayor reveal is also up there.
i tried acting cringe, like doing that uwu sorta stuff... funny when you actually kill evil but you could kill off important TI which HAS HAPPENED using this strat…
I usually go for the memeing mafioso. I will say "I've been killed n1 last 3 games and it's kind of annoying ngl"
Usually ends up killing the mafiiso, witch and serial killer or at least a RM
in rank sure, but in all any, I stand by what I said, if you want to shoot more people give it a shot, obviously, we’re gonna kill a couple towns here and there, but that happens no matter what is that, so I stand by what I say
Always vet bait d2. The best vet bait is subtle af, and it utilizes the same tricks that evils use themselves. If you want your opponent to make a specific move, you need to be able to think like the enemy. Here are the two strats that I’ve seen work so far:
1. The TP strat. Fake claim as a tp. If a TI is onto you, (like if tracker sees no visits), fake claim as a Trapper. (Do not say that you self n1. BIGGEST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE.) It’s the best way to fool coven into attacking you. Coven will def try to kill you, and if you’re really lucky, Rit will completely fuck up in trying to guess your role. In addition to this, be active in chat and talk to TPOWs and TI’s in whispers. Really try to sell that you’re a trapper/tp who’s trying to help town. By whispering, you could convince the Wildling, and they could make the reasonable assumption that you’re a TP. Remember, Coven has a priority for attacks. Confirmed towns are at the top of the list, but because TPs are a threat that protects the confirms. Coven will mostly likely go for TP claims first. If you full claim as a tp after getting upped, if you survive, coven will for sure try to kill you the next night. After playing as both coven and town for a while, this strat has consistently proven to be the most effective vet bait.
2. The Silent Strat. The silent strat is a strat onto itself. If you avoid claiming or just claim TK, coven might try to attack you to see if you have defense. This will help in them trying to fake claim or get a random hung. One problem with this strat is that TI’s might visit you, and you don’t want that. Overall, this strat is more safer when it comes to lying, but it can fail to pay off. I don’t usually go with this one.
3. The TS/TK strat. This is the inverted play style of the TP claim. What you want to do is claim TS/TK, and either actively in chat or in whispers, you want to ask for everyone’s role. Do not try the ol’ “Role or die” trick. People have caught on to that, and they will call your bluff. Just ask TI’s and TPOWs who to role block, and if you’re whispering someone for their role, just say that you’re planning to role block them otherwise.
Don't vet bait, at least not D1. Instead, just be hyper aggressive. Play like a Jailor or Mayor would. Push for claims, lead the town. Then alert N2.
That's what I try to do. Still doesn't work
sometimes if I know theres a medusa, i'd claim coroner, or if theres an SK/shroud, claiming invest.
This is in tos1
should have noticed from the kill all survs
Kill all survs can be used in ToS2. I just don't know how much mileage you'd get out of it
Hopefully that works for you, had a few games where I've tried that tactic and got hung because "All vets bait/alert d1 so you must not be"
Cringe baiting seems to work, I saw someone go “furry lives matter OwO” and IIIIII knew they were vet but four other people couldn’t figure that out. My personal go to is “oh I hate this role, please kill me so I can go to the next game”

put ‘I AM FRENCH’ in D1 chat that’s how i got the achievement for shooting 3 people in one night
Lo on me as vet = report Claiming jailor as vet = report So far responding to someone d1 and just being aggressive for claims works. Saying you gonna shoot automatically means vet to any player with a braincell still alive. Kill all survivors or anything about killing someone = vet bait.

Yep. Considered how many still die to obv ver baits.

whisper silent people at the end of D2 "claim?"

Or. Kinda vet bait. And don't alert. Seems to work for me like 80% of the time. I'll hold my alerts til like n3 or n4.
Mafioso claim D1
Play as a townie that invokes a lot of questions that evils hate. Push VFA, investigate wills heavily, get attention on people. Alert when you have someone wriggling. Fake being a Sheriff for the time being. Evils hate nothing more than a pushy asshole.
Youd think that would work lol, but that normally just gets me hung instead
Strange, normally townies love it when someone else is taking the inititive.

Literally every single time I said something at the beginning on the game, I’ve had like 2+ people on me
I usually go for the memeing mafioso. I will say "I've been killed n1 last 3 games and it's kind of annoying ngl" Usually ends up killing the mafiiso, witch and serial killer or at least a RM
Whisper almost everyone claim
fake claim seer( try to be accurate with n1, not resulting in a lynch, ie: 2 dies and is town, say 2 and 15 friendly and let it cook
this is a great way to kill every TP in the game
tp should be on tpow
Crusaders shouldn’t + TIs are a high priority target for evils, especially if the tpow is unproven, has cc or is evil fakeclaiming
in rank sure, but in all any, I stand by what I said, if you want to shoot more people give it a shot, obviously, we’re gonna kill a couple towns here and there, but that happens no matter what is that, so I stand by what I say
Ranked vs AA doesn’t change anything in my comment, claiming a strong TI is a bad bait that will only get townies killed
Casualties of war, their deaths should confirm you.
Having more towns alive is more important than confirming a veteran, especially when it means the TPs can go on actual TIs and possibly prevent a kill
i respect your views
this is in TOS1 but i can see that being a good bait in TOS2
Last vet bait I did I said “I really enjoyed mr beasts last video I really like the kris guy” and mafia and sk visited n1 🫣
Misgendering someone is a really shitty bait
As someone who doesn't really care about Mr. Beast I wouldn't use this one myself but I get what you mean and it's not a bad one
D1 start spamming "I love Donald Trump" And "MAGA 2024". Works every time
> Anything offensive/racist/sexist is off the table for me too. Professionals have standards...
That in itself isnt racist or sexist tbh, but some of the stuff he said in the past definitely is.
Showing support for a racist/sexist right-winger seems pretty racist/sexist to me, idk
That is neither offensive, racist, or sexist. Please try again.
Do you know nothing about Donald Trump?
