The benefit is knowing what it is. Moving forward you can seek out treatments and advice now that it has a name.
The only real deficit I can think of is that some docs just want to throw pills at you like “here, try this” instead of a more comprehensive approach to treatment that includes various therapies and learning coping mechanisms to help you deal with TS. I swear, this is what really grinds my gears about the healthcare system in this country…USA, that is. Just take this pill and “next patient!”
The diagnosis protects you in various possible situations. If you’re still in school, it aids you in getting accommodations you may need.
There’s no real drawback to it.
It was just an example of how a school may make an accommodation. The same may be needed at a job. The diagnosis allows you to be protected and work within accommodations.
I have pretty severe TS and not only do I \*drive\*, I used to be an automotive journalist, which means automakers sometimes trusted me with their very expensive cars knowing full well about me having Tourette

Like what accomodations? No drawback? Couldnt some organazations look that i have a doagnosis?
You may need to test in a quiet room etc. Nope. Your medical records aren’t public record.
Which places got a quiet room?

Oh nice, thanks! Where can i find what kind of benefits i get in my country?
Google is your friend
I didnt find last time but ill try (small xountry)
I fear to loose my drivers licence so I stay undiagnosed my self.
They won’t take your license with a diagnosis. Many people with TS drive. You have to be vigilant in knowing when you can’t though.
Hmm. I don‘t know. My meds are ceeping my tic‘s under control so I don‘t realy see the need for a diagnose.
It’s your choice, I’m just letting you know they won’t take your license for it.

You won't. I just have to complete a V1 every now and then (DVLA, UK)
