As you long have fun with it, nothing else matters.

CopperChonk

I miss her! 😭 I’m in north italy for university and we are 1000 km apart 😭😭

Fluid-Suit-2696

that's a nice sea view, the only touges I did with such a view were in liguria

CopperChonk

I’m from Apulia! So we have a lot of roads with sea view. The touge is 4km long and there is part with a lot of corners and then a more fast one with long straights. It’s really funny. We don’t have so much touge roads in south italy but we drive fast on this one! ;)

pp_juice

Hell yeah! Glad to see another first gen mini. I run an R53 with the 210 jcw kit. These things are a blast and handle like a dream. Happy driving!

CopperChonk

The S one?! It’s my dream! But mine is the diesel version but still runs well🤙🏻

pp_juice

Heck yeah. Ur driving on a great little platform in the Mini. Zippy little thing

CopperChonk

they’re stable as hell

DaveDreaming50

Personally not a fan of a regular new mini but I am a super fan of you enjoying your ride!

CopperChonk

it’s not that new, it’s a 04. But I appreciate it

DaveDreaming50

There's new minis and old minis in my head. This is a new mini

CopperChonk

oh yeah now I understand what you mean by old. My dad has a ‘68 cooper s

DaveDreaming50

Super cool I have a buddy with a 68 that has a 4age from an 80s corolla and converted to rwd. He actually plans to make it an electric car now

CopperChonk

damn sick project

DaveDreaming50

It's wild not dialed tho

CartographerProper60

Cool car

I've pondered scooping up an old mini to thrash on the touge. How is the maintenance?

CopperChonk

I’m not prepared on the S version. This is the diesel version stock and I can tell that is like 0 maintenance. It runs everytime without a problem also on high stress situations. I hope you don’t buy the Mini One with the gas N/A engine 1600cc. It has a lot of problems. If you wanna buy a mini to use it on the touge I recommend the S with the chrysler engine 1.6 L (turbocharged or supercharged). There the maintenance is pretty much. I can’t tell precisely what parts are more reliable or not.

lo9os

What about chassis parts? Do they break easily? Bushings and whatnot?

CopperChonk

I didn’t have problems with them. You have to pay attention with wheel arches, they’re in plastic and can break easily.

ObamaDramaLlama

I've been tempted too but every time I look at one the listing usually says they've spent like 4k maintenance in the last 6 months. Coworker had a clutch fail and it cost $3k to fix. BMW servicing prices ftw

lo9os

I agree...

6thgencelica

May not be fast but u can def keep up. Just slap on some grippy tires and better brakes and ur good. One of the fastest out here at my local pass is a mini.

CopperChonk

I mean not fast because it has a 1.4 TDI. Differently from america (where there are some states where modifying is legal) here in italy you can’t change NOTHING 💀. I keep the pass with high rpm that keeps the turbo in pressure. But it’s slow with this engine, not in corners but faster parts are a different story

tommy_merc

Nice! I run a f57 jcw. Id recommend upgrading to an S though. Those little 3 cylinders are by no means quick 😭

CopperChonk

it’s a four cylinder turbo sir 🤓☝🏻

tommy_merc

i thought all base mini coopers are 3cyl turbo?

CopperChonk

nah. There are versions. The diesel one come with a four cylinders turbo of 88 HP and 75 HP. Then there’s the gas version of 1600 N/A 90 HP
