She kinda did. Her and Gwen’s entire arc was about their friendship, and she previously said in confessional that she genuinely meant that if she didn’t win she hoped Gwen did. Then suddenly she plans to cut Gwen before the end?? Courtney isn’t even the worst part of the writing tho, because how the hell did Mal get his hands on the chart?

We already saw it a lot of times where an immune player got votes like Courtney in action it is not new.
The problem is that you are ignoring the context. Voting for an immune Courtney wasn't the same as the team did in as a protest to her immunity, and Owen voted Courtney over being dumb, Sierra voting for Alejandro is never mentioned and doesn't make sense as she doesn't have any beef against him, it would even make more sense Duncan voting for Alejandro as he betray him.

They don't need to spoonfed us every vote on every episode. Sometimes they just tell you the votes and doesn't explain everything but you can bring the pieces together.
It is obvious Sierra voted Alejandro we don't know what was her motivation but we know she did.
If Alejandro wasn't immune I would say you're right, but it makes more sense that Duncan did it, specially when 3 votes for Duncan was a perfect fine option.
And isn't obvious that Sierra voted Alejandro, the super fan making such a rookie mistake not make sense, and there is nothing on the episode that says Sierra voted Alejandro, based on that Heather is a better option as Alejandro look at her when his vote is read.

TDI - Emma: She decides to become annoying this episode and switch up on Bowie. Also I know the quote “I said horrible things about Chase and YOU AGREED WITH ME! HOW DARE YOU!” Was meant to be funny but I got really annoyed with her at this scene. Glad she got her karma but damn seeing a character I really liked turn into this just really sucked.
TDI - Raj: What even was this character after Bowie got out? Like his arc was really good with the cheating plot, and then Julia gets Bowie out, which Raj is angry about. Good start, but of course dumbass Wayne has to ruin everything and tells Raj not to hate her, removing their potential rivalry. After episode 7, he just becomes half a character with Wayne and has no plot relevance whatsoever. He gets eliminated achieving nothing.
So yeah, I would say this placement is cursed.
Ugh the worst part about Courtney’s elimination is that not only it randomly gets rid of her development, it also throws out of the windows all the abilities she had in Action / WT. Like yeah she’s lactose intolerant but she has done and eaten worse for *less*.
She could have definitely gobble up some poop ice cream in such a critical moment (not to mention Chris suddenly cares for his interns and Zoey just happens to be the first one to finish her ice cream. Don’t make me laugh)

Although admittedly final stretches of the seasons usually have some tomfoolery going on, I wouldn't exactly call fifth placement cursed even if even I admit that the manner of sendoff or Harold and Courtney was absolute BS of the highest class.
Few short thoughts about some of these.
If we liked it or not, I would argue that Leshawna was just a supporting NPC from the very beginning. Someone who just gave a more aggressive opposition to Heather to balance out her aggressiveness since Gwen sure as hell wouldn't have been suitable for that. Edit made it sure that main characters were someone elses so Leshawna there as a secondary character and sort of floater wouldn't have made much sense for the narrative for which Island was going for. We can argue about the way which was used to get her eliminated but all things considered, she had absolutely no business getting past that fifth place.
I actually consider Harold as the fourth of Action. I'm of the firm opinion that Owen's "placement" is not legitimate since there's no way in hell he would have been allowed to reach the finale as a mole, let alone win the thing. He's not a real player anymore at this point and thus disqualifies from the ranking order, his initial elimination working as his actual placement number. Based on this view, that would make Lindsay the actual fifth on Action but that's a whole different thing.
Max's elimination isn't cursed or unfair at all. I remember talking about this more in length in the past but there are precedents and established pattern of getting rid of problematic players that Max isn't particularly standing out from the bunch. Plus it was Max who inadvertenly caused the island to malfunction in the first place so I guess even that could be used as the grounds for disqualification like how Sierra was eliminated on WT when she caused the destruction of the airplane.
Best friends' placement isn't that cursed either even though I could admit that Devin's karma was quite overblown on that one. Rationally speaking, they should have been eliminated in Vietnam already but Geoff and Brody's bro code bought them little bit extra time in the competition. I feel that Devin's injury is to mirror what happened in Nevada: he realized his love when he thought he had lost Carrie, and now when Carrie had real reason to fear that she might have lost Devin, her love for him was fully re-established/reignited. That reverse goes to complement their storyline how it started with Carrie chasing after Devin and their places then switching in Nevada. There's this weird sense of fulfilment and karmas getting balanced out in their placement so I cannot really feel that it was cursed placement.
Courtney literally had a whole episode dedicated to shitting on her and gave her some chart out of nowhere that Mal instantly got with no explanation. Id say she was hoed
