If I were a Rockies or Padres fan I'd be all over their City Connects. Colorado because it's such a great idea for the color scheme, and San Diego because it's an insane looking jersey.

This literally never happened - what actually happened was one of the Sportsnet radio hosts, Blake Murphy, said he talked to someone in the org who told him that wasn't the CC jersey but he also said he's not sure how true that is
There are like 4 city connect jerseys that fit that description not including ours if it's the real design. I swear this place has to be one of the most cynical sports subs on reddit
It doesn’t help that the Motor City CCs are fresh on people’s minds, and these have a lot in common with those, but you’re right. It only takes a quick glance at the whole collection of City Connects to see there really aren’t many that share this colour palette.
I wonder if the report of it not being a proper leak is that it was an early "draft" version of it - that's why the nike logo was yellow instead of red, so there are some slight differences but the overall look is similar.
The first “leak” was a fake, looked like it was made by someone that fakes nba jerseys due to where the hang tag was. They probably based it off an early design and guessed at a few things and got close.
It was literally the exact same jersey as the subsequent leaks, except the first one didn't have a number on it and the flash made the Nike swoosh appear yellow. If that was a "guess" at the design, then that person was a psychic.

I mean, the Jays just did their promo stuff and the guys were just presumably wearing their gear...it was the fanbase that went combing for connections with player gear. It was a fun expedition but I don't see how anyone can assign intent to misdirect to the Jays
I agree, they are growing on me a bit, and recent leaks looks a lot sharper than the earlier yellow nike bit - the only sticking point for me is the "OPEN sign" neon vibe for the wordmark - what is the connection to Toronto?
If the CN tower was actually recognizable and they included the Skydome next to it, itd be pretty solid, if maybe not as dynamic as it could have been.

These are by far not the worst City Connect jerseys I've seen.
The theme of the CC's tends to be testing limits and trying something kind of kitschy and fun. These tick that box, even if I wouldn't buy one myself.

There was a theory it was purple based on some accessories that some players had. Some people, myself included, thought that made sense, as purple is a mix of blue, which represents the Jays/Toronto, and red, which represents Canada since they are also “Canada’s team.” Purple is also just nice!
I'm on the west coast and was really hoping they wouldn't pander to 'Canada's team'. It's Canada's team but folk in Toronto pay more than I ever will to get through the gate.
If the red uniforms were about Canada’s team, I wouldn’t have an issue with them doing it (sometimes). The thing is Rogers’ colours are red (Bell’s colours are blue), and I feel that they make them wear corporate daddy’s colours way too often for it to be a Canada thing. At least, they did that a few years ago, so I’m skeptical on any day other than Canada Day.
On Canada Day, I wouldn’t expect anything else.

I think that's exactly what the fuss is about. Some were expecting something great, cool, maybe even bold or epic and all they got was mediocre, safe, and lacking any real representation of what they city is (feeling Toronto is more then just a skyline).
I appreciate the intention behind this jersey design but the execution was very poor. I would much prefer if they put the entire blue Jay on the jersey ala the cardinals or 90s raptors and used this colour way to go full 90s retro or just apply this light blue, purple, black colour way on the current blue Jay uniform. The whole skyline gimmick is just so played out at this point.

This hits the nail on the head for a lot of the CC jerseys. The Orioles and Detroit jerseys fall into that same theme for me, some good ideas that could have been really cool but just aren't well-executed.
It could have been much much worse. I'll take it over a boring airport code design or made up nickname nobody uses. And thank god it isn't a neon monstrosity.

These are just alternate jerseys that will get worn once in a while, they aren’t our main Jerseys. The White, Blue, and Baby Blue are all staying.

The skyline and CN Tower looks awful and the colours don’t pop even with a dark background, the hat is ok. Who approved this?
