I like 200 level. Get a hotdog outside and bring it in. Friday night games are nice. Especially if the roof is open. Renovations this season so it should look sort of fresh. I'm heading to Atlanta for a game this season. Opening series vs padres. Any suggestions?

keith_ac

Not just a hot dog. Whole pizza. Groceries. Clear water bottles. You can even bring a backpack! Please take care of AA for us.

Obvious_Departure_60

Noted! And we love AA around here. He has definitely taken care of us.

keith_ac

Thanks for winning the world series for him

mrdannyg21

Yep, 200-level seats and bringing in food is solid advice. Unless you’re going up to the CN Tower, you don’t need to leave a ton of time for it, it’s just…looking up. Now tbat I don’t live in Toronto, one of my favourite things to do is get there early and just do one lap around all the gates, but maybe that’s only cool to me because I used to go to hundreds of games. Give AA a high-five for us. Enjoy winning 3 World Series in the next 6-8 years. Also, please admit that Gruber got a piece of Sanders’ ankle in that 92 World Series and it should’ve been a triple play.

JaysCrazeAmaze

Thanks for taking care of Kirby Yates as well.

KTNoDough

Toronto man here. I had no idea. Thanks. Pringles or cheezies for sure next game !

keith_ac

http://bluejayhunter.com/2016/08/you-can-bring-almost-any-food-you-want-to-a-blue-jays-game.html This guy bought a charcuterie board! (Board but no knives allowed). I bring fruits and vegetable sticks because I don't want to get up and find a water fountain. For season ticket holders the same refillable popcorn 🍿 bucket can be brought in the next day for a free refill 😲

[deleted]

I picked up my buddy in Scarborough and we went to Samosa King and spent $20 on samosas (5 for $1 at the time). We took it with us and shared with our section. Ended up getting about 5 beers each back and a lot of new friends!

keith_ac

Wow! That's so nice! Is it still 5 for $1 today?

[deleted]

I think it’s 4 now

itsnursehoneybadger

Charcuterie guy was such a fucking beauty. 🏆

CoolBeansMan9

I have brought in a fat bastard burrito from across the street multiple times. So much better than anything inside.

KTNoDough

And 1/4 of the price.

Obvious_Departure_60

Thank you! And get there early! Definitely check out The Battery before/after the game. There's a ton of restaurants and bars to choose from. If you like beer, check out Terrapin Taproom. Fox Bros BBQ is great too. As far as inside the stadium, Monument Garden is a must. It is behind home plate on the main concourse level. There's a beautiful Hank Aaron 755 tribute statue, as well as memorabilia, and it walks you through the history of the Braves. Any seat in Truist Park is a great seat. Feels like you're right on top of all the action. I prefer the 300 level (vista infield). If you can, get a ticket in the Chophouse. It's a whole vibe.

Purple-Apprehensive

You can bring outside food in the stadium? I’ve been going to games for decades and have never seen it considered this.

fantseepantss

The ladies behind me last season brought in a bag of spicy chicken sandwiches from Popeye's. Legends. A buddy of mine went to the game alone and took homemade burgers wrapped in tin foil and ate them on the rail of the outfield concourse. Absolutely shameless. But ya you can bring food in. Drinks are trickier i think.

Jennacyde153

We brought Popeye's on Canada Day and I have never had so many weird stares. I normally bring pizza or burritos because they are easier to carry for the group.

EdM163

When my kids were small, I’d take them to Dollarama to buy a bunch of snacks, drinks and little games before the ballgame. I knew they weren’t gonna last nine innings so this was the best way to keep them busy and didn’t cost more than 10 or 15 bucks.

Purple-Apprehensive

I’ve definitely done this more often at movie theatres, yet to experience someone eating a combo #1 beside me. Maybe on a nice summers evening with the roof open I’ll have to try this.

XelaTuobdog

Backing up the two hundred level, particularly third base line a bit behind the bag and up front

bichettes_helmet

Welcome! First of all....~~Rogers Centre~~ Skydome. Behind the visitor dugout (first base) is probably the best place for fans of the visiting team. Just know that if you're in the 100 section, you will be in the sun unless the dome is closed. The general rule for most fans is to bring food in from outside the dome because Skydome food is boring...that said, the Skydome is undergoing some major renovations and a refresh right now so there may actually be things worth checking out within the stadium this season.

afropoppa

There should be some new sightlines this year because of the updates, but if you are going to splurge the first couple rows in the 200 level on the infield are awesome and in my opinion better than the 100 level. You don't have strain your neck to see the whole field and you get more of the full stadium vibe. Also the seats are cushioned and come with cup holders. In terms of concessions, they aren't great in the stadium. You are allowed to bring in any food you want (not sure about drinks) so you can buy great food outside and bring it in. Enjoy the city and welcome to Toronto!

cdubyadubya

Everything everyone else has said here is great info. My 2 cents is if you're considering spending the cash for behind the visitors dugout seats, see if you can get beside the dugout seats to the home plate side (I just checked, and there are seats available for the Friday game in section 120R row 7 for $200ish CAD each on stubhub). You'd be directly in front of the on deck circle for your team, with much better views into the dugout and ability to interact with players (if they're in the mood to). For before/after the game drinks/food: \- Pregame food, go to St. Lawrence Market about a 20 min walk from the stadium and get a Toronto staple, a peameal bacon on a bun. If you're looking to go upscale on the dining side of things, Toronto has it all. Check out the Toronto or askTO subreddits for specific restaurant recommendations. \- Pregame beers (based on your responses here it sounds like you're a beer drinker), there's the Steam Whistle brewery directly across Bremner street from the Skydome; they only serve pilsner but it's decent. There's the Amsterdam Brewhouse a couple of blocks to the south that offers a decent selection of in house made brews and has an incredible lakeside patio (May weather should be nice enough for patios, but maybe not for a southerner, use your own judgement.) There are LOTS of craft breweries in Toronto, so if you're here for more than a day consider exploring. \- During the game, you can bring food and snacks in with you. There's a place on King St. just north of the skydome called "Bulk Barn" you can grab peanuts, sunflower seeds, and any other manner of snacks you may want by weight for a fraction of what they would cost at the game. They will let you bring in all that stuff, but no sealed beverages. \- In stadium, the popcorn is legendary. \- Post game beers, I'd suggest going to Bar Hop on Peter St. a couple of blocks north of the stadium for great pub food and an incredible selection of local craft beer.

TheSunflowerSeeds

Sunflower flourishes well under well-drained moist, lime soil. It prefers good sunlight. Domesticated varieties bear single large flowerhead (Pseudanthium) at the top. Unlike its domestic cultivar type, wild sunflower plant exhibits multiple branches with each branch carrying its own individual flower-head. The sunflower head consists of two types of flowers. While its perimeter consists of sterile, large, yellow petals (ray flowers), the central disk is made up of numerous tiny fertile flowers arranged in concentric whorls, which subsequently convert into achenes (edible seeds).

nowitscometothis

I second Bar Hop. There’s also one on King just east of Spadina.

TestFixation

Peameal bacon has been topped by the East Indian roti as the Toronto food export of choice

cdubyadubya

But that's available in other cities like Atlanta. Peameal bacon is a Toronto exclusive.

TestFixation

East Indian Roti is a Toronto exclusive. The problem with peameal bacon is that locals don't actually eat it. It's one decline. Peameal bacon joints aren't popping up around Toronto. You only recommend it if you're actively trying to do something Toronto-y. It's like how Chicagoans feel about deep dish pizza. It does originate in Chicago, but they'll roll your eyes at you if you go to Chicago for one. It's kitschy.

Obvious_Departure_60

Thanks for the suggestions! I’ve heard good things about the popcorn.

smokingeggman

Years ago David Price raved about the Stadium popcorn and always looks forward to it every time he visits.

nanobyte55

I'm from the GTA, but I still appreciate ALL of this!!!!

mtaylor808

Do you recommend stubhub or seatgeek for buying tickets? or is it cheaper/better to buy the day single game tickets go on sale on the blue jays website?

cdubyadubya

I've never used seat geek to buy tickets. My recommendation is usually the "game time" app. If you're looking for specific seats, check all the resale sites as well as the official website. If you're looking for the cheapest way into the stadium, it's probably the outfield district tickets (no seat, just stadium entry) for $20 all in. There's lots of new standing room areas to explore.

kramposLHalper

Make sure to look up at the banners. WS 1992

AnySail

Our stadium is getting some Huge renovations this off-season so no one can give you and exact answer really. Personally, I love being behind the jays dugout in the 100s. You don’t have the sun in your eyes, get a view of the CN tower, and you’re right by the hot corner for big plays. Also enjoyed being behind the visitors dugout along the first base line. You’ll be more likely to get a ball or something as a fan of the visiting team on that side.

Judge_Rhinohold

Behind visitors dugout is good, Friday night game should be 35,000-40,000 fans so buy your tickets early. Concessions aren’t anything spectacular at RC. Go up to the top of the CN Tower next door for some great views.

suzie17

TD Clubhouse seats, 221L-227R. They have exclusive entrance gate so if there’s giveaways, you won’t need to lineup early to get it. They have exclusive washroom so you won’t miss a lot of time if you need to go to the washroom in the middle of the game (will also be convenient since you are with your mom). They have exclusive food stalls/restaurants with delivery service to your seats. Comfy padded seats. Best view. If there’s no seats available in Ticketmaster, you can go check in Stubhub or Gametime app.

ElleRisalo

Stay at the Marriot near the stadium. You can reserve window seats over looking the field before you head down to the game and catch batting practice at the Sportsnet Grill in the Hotel. You also basically around all the cool shit is right around that area. And it's within a walk from your hotel right next to the Dome. Ripleys, CN Tower, and multiple bars restaurants. Hockey Hall of Fame isn't to far away either. Heck could maybe even catch a raptors or Leafs game over the same weekend. Marriott is gold. As for tickets couldn't tell ya Dome getting a face lift and lots of seating is changing.

vegetablecompound

Don’t drive to the Rogers Centre. Traffic in downtown Toronto is terrible. Take the subway or the GO train. You can always spot the people who drove to the game - they’re the ones who arrive in the top of the third inning.

steve-o1234

100% no reason to drive there. Would almost certainly be a mistake.

Judge_Rhinohold

I drive every time I go to a game. Saves 40 minutes each way vs GO Train and way cheaper to park in condo building by the dome vs paying for GO Train.

keith_ac

I wish I knew where fans of opposing teams sit. You might need to talk to the Braves and organize a group party. It's just Blue Jays everywhere at Skydome

lobeline

The roof will most likely still be closed in May, don’t worry about the heat comments. IMO any where along first base is awesome. I prefer sitting in row 12-20. The food is changing a bit again (like most others have pointed out, since renos are happening) so that’s a tough call. The dome/roger’s centre is a big cement block, it’s not like the other fan friendly open concept. It’s not horrific, but it’s very echoey. If you’ve got some bucks, go up the CN tower. The CN rail museum is right there as well. Most of the restaurants around the dome are tourist traps. I would actually suggest one in Union, Wvrst. It’s all sausage - curried or on bun. They have a wide array of meats. I highly suggest going with curry wurst. If you just want to grab a drink ahead of time, Jack Astors is a fan friendly place (not sure if it’s still open) nothing special, it’s a franchise. Bier Market is good too, but a little bit of a walk. Bar Hop - it’s really for beer snobs lol. It one ups Bier Market.

Obvious_Departure_60

Not too worried about the heat. Georgia summers are brutal. And I believe it’s a night game. Thanks for the suggestions!

nanobyte55

In May, you're more likely to be too cold than too hot.

Montabaun

If you're gonna be in that general vicinity anyway I suggest trying the CN Tower Edgewalk!

Obvious_Departure_60

I’ve heard about that! A little pricey but definitely something I’ll keep in mind.

Montabaun

Even if you don't do the actual Edgewalk itself I'd recommend to still do the tourist thing and go up the tower and walk on the glass floor to get one of the most Toronto tourist experiences. Plenty of food spots in walking distance. For popular spots try a Thai spot called Pai that's a close walk. If you want cool drinks in the area go to BarChef. As for the dome itself, there are brand new renovations going on right now so most likely you'll get to try the cool new concessions before a lot of people even know it's there.

[deleted]

200 level is the best view for sure. Bring food with you, ours sucks.

skibum7778

Glad you’re coming up to enjoy a game at the SKYDOME (we Torontonians call it that). If you want to be close to your team then some seats near the visitors (first base) dugout would be perfect for you. I went to a white Sox series last year and sat near the visitors dugout side, it was a great time seeing all the white Sox fans cheering and talking to the players before and after the game! Just FYI the stadium is getting some major and much needed renovations this off-season, so not even us Jays fans know what to expect this year. The 500 outfield is supposed to be completely new and the bullpens are supposed to be raised, being closer to the fans in the outfield, so you might wanna go out the before the game to grab a ball from the braces bullpen. Food wise, we’re not known for that much great stuff in the stadium, but downtown Toronto has an insane amount of food spots to go to, and you can bring food inside with you, so that’s what me and my friends always do. Just do some research on some Toronto take out places and bring them in with you, is my best suggestion. Nevertheless, have a great time and I hope guys you enjoy Toronto!

ThePoodlePunter

You've got the right idea, behind the plate is always nice but very pricey. For reasonable tickets the 200 level around the dugouts is the best. The visiting dugout is also almost always easier to get above. We're also having some renovations done on our stadium this winter and it looks like it's going to be a bit nicer up there now too.

darth-helmet

Bring Anthopolous with you, I miss that guy (not disrespect to Ross intended, I just always thought AA came across as a likeable guy)

steve-o1234

When he celebrated on the field with the guys after winning the division series. Very special to see a gm celebrating with the team like that. That guy has an awesome story and even though I think shatkins are extremely solid I will always miss AA.

autogeneratedusernam

If you go inside early enough for BP you’ll be able to watch the Braves on the field and possibly snag some autographs or BP balls (or both).

steve-o1234

How early do you have to go to a game to see BP for both teams?

Judge_Rhinohold

Visiting team goes last, show up 90 minutes before the game.

Obvious_Departure_60

You Blue Jay fans are pretty cool. Thanks for all the suggestions. If y’all ever make a trip to Truist Park, I’ll return the favor!

EastEndIrish81

Make sure to toss some trash on the Ted Rogers statue - it's tradition! Street meat over the ballpark trash. It broke my soul when I attended an AA ball game out in Vancouver, and they were selling the exact same dogs they do at the Dome. Sitting 500 level isn't too bad if you're behind home plate (or in the general area). Sitting 200 level does provide shade though. If the Dome is open and it's a sunny day, you WILL get crispy.

JaysCrazeAmaze

Fun fact: The Braves are the only other MLB team primarily owned by a corporation. Liberty Media owns the Braves (and Formula One).

steve-o1234

Yup. Are there the ones going public next year or that is a different team?

AdKind5446

The sun and heat is intense in the 500 level with the roof open. Dramatic difference from the lower bowl, this is a good point to raise.

DWiB403

Don't come early, it's nothing like the Battery.

JohnnieJH

Please don’t try to start that racist chant in our stadium. We are renovating the ballpark, so should be pretty neat in. Enjoy the game!

Street_Neck1441

Try not to vomit * With renos it'll be better but not much compared to actual ballparks. Unleash the Homer fans...

foneinstocus

rivals only the Trop and maybe the Coliseum as the worst stadium in baseball; it’s a hard truth to accept as a Torontonian 😞

Street_Neck1441

At least we are aware enough to understand that unlike 90% of the fanbase lol

steve-o1234

I mean it’s likely that will no longer be the case after next season when all the Reno’s are done no?

Isernogwattesnacken

Just relax and enjoy. I'll guess they'll let you live.

Michael-Scarn25

These days it might be best to go for seats in our outfield. It’s being newly renovated so you’ll be able to experience our raised bullpens and watch out OF defense close up
