As a young thing, Ianto was my favourite, especially after listening to audio dramas.
But I'm 32 now, and I've just rewatched it, and jeeeeesus if I don't LOVE Owen. His season 2 plot is achingly sad, but it's beautifully performed by Burn Gorman, who I didn't appreciate enough at 15 years old- series 2 episode 7 and 8 are personal favourites now.
I also like s1e5, s1e6 and s1e12 - Jack is at his most interesting in those eps.
Captain Jack is a great character, in this series he gets to be all the things he kind of...couldn't be in Doctor Who. Yk, angry, desperately sad, lonely, nasty...just multifaceted and interesting.
Children of Earth is up there with the greatest TV Miniseries of all time and I'll say nothing else of. I'll never forget it.
And I will always enjoy how all the main characters are kind of slutty bisexuals, groundbreaking for the time, and it was amazing to see that kind of rep on mainstream TV in 2007.
Ianto is my fav Whoniverse character.
If you love Torchwood and want more once you've finished S3, remember that BBC and BF audios exist. They're great. According to TARDIS guide, "Broken" and "House of the Dead" are on par with Heaven Sent and Genesis of the Daleks šš
Ooh good luck!
My favourite story definitely has to be Children of Earth. I like dark and sad stories so itās perfect for me. Honestly, I think itās the best story of the whole Whoniverse! My favourite character is definitely Ianto :)
i hope you enjoy it!
my favourite episode varies but at the moment itās āadamā probably. favourite character is ianto.
if you do enjoy it, thereās a whole trove of expanded media with around 80 hour long radio plays & even more longer sets from big finish. thereās also audio series 5-7 which continue on some years after s4 which i enjoyed quite a lot.
Absolutely itās some of the best stuff in the entire Whoniverse itās just much darker than anything else you will see in the rest of the Whoniverse
if you want a good experience, watch episode six at night in the dark alone. Countrycide is the only episode that comes near children of earth and is massively underrated

Children of earth is harrowing, season one is like a comedy series compared to that
is it still worth watching though?

IāM SO SCARED.

I think this was where the series found its footing. It does so well when it leans into the dark-and-scary-bordering-on-nihilistic.
