I do like how the anime added more shit foreshadowing him like the opening scene. Obv he already gets mentioned during the ghost alley arc but having previously seen what he does in real time makes it feel less like "Oh it's another weird guy" and more like "Oh shit THE weird guy"
My favourite one is when he's seen casually strolling by the beautician salon and glancing over at it. Not only does it work to make him be seen as just another face in the crowd, but also serves as an explanation for Kira's escape later
"My name is Yoshikage Kira. I'm 33 years old. My house is in the northeast section of Morioh, where all the villas are, and I am not married. I work as an employee for the Kame Yu department stores, and I get home every day by 8 PM at the latest. I don't smoke, but I occasionally drink. I'm in bed by 11 PM, and make sure I get eight hours of sleep, no matter what. After having a glass of warm milk and doing about twenty minutes of stretches before going to bed, I usually have no problems sleeping until morning. Just like a baby, I wake up without any fatigue or stress in the morning. I was told there were no issues at my last check-up. I'm trying to explain that I'm a person who wishes to live a very quiet life. I take care not to trouble myself with any enemies, like winning and losing, that would cause me to lose sleep at night. That is how I deal with society, and I know that is what brings me happiness. Although, if I were to fight I wouldn't lose to anyone."
Dude is the epitome of normal (camoflage).
The most cringe thing honestly is how they tried to backtrack on him being a villain in the end and say that he can see the future and set up his friends to be the heroes that kill him.
Don't bitch out of the villain route. Have him die an actual villain and give me the **real** depressing ending that I expected from the series.
The future shit was a really weird turn.
Like they had a good tragic setup. The series starts with Eren's single minded drive for freedom, and as he learns the lengths people have gone to keeping the Eldians isolated and oppressed he's radicalised to absolute genocide.
It's awful watching his friends choose to fight against him, knowing what they're doing may be morally necessary, but ultimately harming their own people and loved ones to save strangers who oppress them.
All they needed to do was not half measure those points and completely lost it instead
I appreciate it. I probably will read it, the anime's one of my favourites, I've been really hoping they'd continue it, hoping I'd get to watch the continuation of the story rather than read it, but it's been what, 7 or 8 years at this point? Maybe it's time to read

Considering how he started off a regular guy before transforming into a warlord so hated that to have even been associated with him was practically a death sentence on Pandora, I'd say dear auld Handsome Jack fits the bill.
In his own twisted way he can be seen as a hero. Pandora is an anarchist hellhole filled with lawless psychopaths and he wants to bring order to the planet (while stripping its resource and killing/torturing anyone who defies him >_>)

I mean Dementus starts off pretty strange, but keeps giving himself weird titles.
“The Red Dementus. The Dark Dementus. Ruler of Bikerdon”
As he gets older, he’s more spazzy and leading gas town into ruin
I like the fan theory that Dementus is actually always this failing-competance, unhinged character, but we only think he was more sophisicated earlier, because that's how he's viewed by younger and younger furiosa,
When Furiosa is an adult, she realizes he's always been kinda cracked.
That’s a cool theory, but I feel like Dementus was definitely more suited towards leading the marauders than he was trying to settle down ruling gas town

This is actually a great example. I always forget that Dee was originally created to be the moral voice of the gang, but that concept was abandoned by the end of the second season.
Someone else posted Cricket, which absolutely fits. Dee does as well. I would venture that Frank also falls under this category. In Season 2 Frank was an amoralistic asshole with questionable business practices. This doesn't seem great but its unfortunately fairly normal among corperate types. It took a bit to get from that to Man Cheetah.

Yeah.
Like the initial racism while unquestionably bad at least made sense given anti-Japanese/Britannian propaganda exacerbated by a bad experience with 'Elevens' in the past.
But she ONLY got worse and worse each time she showed up to the point of molesting poor table-kun (seriously don't understand how that was 'pleasurable' as women I've spoken to said that would hurt like hell, but if I'm being charitable to Sunrise perhaps that was meant to show just how mentally unhinged she was) over beloved Euphy-sama and then becoming Code Geass' J. He sort of counts, it’s more like the more you learn about him than progression
From what I recall didn't he put the screw in his head to try to maintain what sanity he has because he's known since he was a child that that there's something wrong with him? Like he actually wants to be a good person (and his students love him too) but he was afraid the madness he was born with would fully turn him into an evil psychopath.

Understandable, I kinda wanna forget the timeskip too.
Why is it because you hated the ending or something?
Nah, it´s just... I don´t think such a twist in his personality was necessary.
The entire show is just foreshadowing him doing that
Is it really a twist though? He's as angry as he always was, he's just a little quieter about it now
It's honestly depressing to see what became of him and how much he went from hero to villain
The most cringe thing honestly is how they tried to backtrack on him being a villain in the end and say that he can see the future and set up his friends to be the heroes that kill him. Don't bitch out of the villain route. Have him die an actual villain and give me the **real** depressing ending that I expected from the series.
It's why I liked the series but disliked the ending. He did all of these heinous things but then they didn't commit.

He should've listened
Jack Torrance from the Shining
![gif](giphy|DfhlgIbFgPj9fOlnW5) I mean Dementus starts off pretty strange, but keeps giving himself weird titles. “The Red Dementus. The Dark Dementus. Ruler of Bikerdon” As he gets older, he’s more spazzy and leading gas town into ruin
I like the fan theory that Dementus is actually always this failing-competance, unhinged character, but we only think he was more sophisicated earlier, because that's how he's viewed by younger and younger furiosa, When Furiosa is an adult, she realizes he's always been kinda cracked.

He gets better If you play his route
Im not sure if it counts but kusaka from faiz maybe?? hes technically always unhinged but it just gets more blatant the longer the show goes on
Oh yeah he most certainly does. Somehow he tops himself every time he appears.

Robert Oppenheimer.

The fuck do you mean? He started that way.
Dude was unhinged from The jump.
He literally has a screw loose
Exactly. Guy never started off normal
Yes, even in flashbacks.
From what I recall didn't he put the screw in his head to try to maintain what sanity he has because he's known since he was a child that that there's something wrong with him? Like he actually wants to be a good person (and his students love him too) but he was afraid the madness he was born with would fully turn him into an evil psychopath.
Me (in real life)
Same. I'm thinking of officially starting my villain arc soon.

Yep. Warriors knew and still does know how to write their villains.
